Black Blank screen upon loading game

Upon loading game over the last month about 50% of the time the screen goes black with no text or graphics just black like it does right before loading Cryptic logo with the progress bar beneath. It just sticks there. Task manager DOES NOT report it as not responding but the game doesn't load beyond that. I have to end program and reboot to get it to load. This has been happening since 2nd to last patch.

I have Nvidia Geeforce GTX 1070 running latest driver 471.41 released 7/19.

    That's been happening a lot, from what I could gather. Has to do with ARC not playing nice with STO. (I blame the ARC overlay freezing up the game when it initializes.) I usually launch STO directly from it's own launcher in the install directory now, with zero problems.

    I force verify after every patch, seems to reduce the issue.
