Crash and then black screen

I tried playing today after a couple of years...
First 5 attempts, game crashed immediately upon loading with a crashed report screen... So then I decided to do a full uninstall and then re-install. After about an hour of the game downloading and installing, I try to run it.. Now the game loads to a black screen - nothing else. I've wasted my game time on trying to get this game working. I tried safe mode, Force verify, un-ticking the on-demand patching... nothing works. I have a fairly decent gaming PC - Ryzen 7 3700X, 32GB ram, GTX 1660 TI, 1TB SDD. It plays other games no problem. I can't imagine what's going on with STO.

Perhaps I'd just been playing less though, perhaps like some.
