For anyone who's played the game...is the Cohesive Fused Deuterium Irradiation Cannon a cannon like its name suggests, or a beam? The description of the weapon makes it sound like it could be either, and I can't look it up on Youtube because no one's made any videos showcasing it...or any other advanced weapon, for that matter.
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out:

An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?""It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch.""We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.
In the chaos of their battle, I bring order.
I am a shadow, darkness born from light.
The Force is united within me.

And it sounds like it is KINDA like a cannon, described as "little more than a directed fusion explosion". And the book talks about a bolt.
So... it SOUNDS like its a bolt firing weapon that unleashes deuterium plasma on the brink of a fusion reaction.

So for now... assume bolt firing.
A few years ago I ran Daggerfall via DOSBox from the original CD and it worked as well as that game ever did (it was so buggy that it still holds the record for the number of patches necessary to get a local CD based game to run).

True. They don't even seem to have much interest in bringing in much from the older games into ESO though there is enough to get some of the feel.
Using the old ten question character generation I used to end up with sorceress characters most often, with a few other mage types less often, and the occasionally archer, but you cannot even do an Arena/Daggerfall style sorceress in the game (what they call Sorcerer in ESO was the old mainline Mage class).
The original sorcerer/sorceress class was an intrinsically hybrid class that had to transmute magical attacks against them into magick to fill their reserve (which gave them a bit of protection since only part of the incoming spell hit), and so usually used a sword or other weapon rather than a staff, and the ones that happened to use a staff could use it as either a magick aid or a mundane blunt weapon equally well. The Dunmer were the best sorcs back then.
Also, I did a lot of Khajiit Nightblades but I prefer playing the Ohms (desert elf) or Ohmes-Raht (neko) type over playing the Cathay (anthro) type which is the only playable type in ESO (though I do have one, a Warden pet wrangler).

The only interest Bethesda had in remastering any of their games was the Skyrim Special Edition and it was released almost 5 years after Skyrim instead of doing it to one of their older games like Daggerfall or Morrowind.
And as for older Star Trek games - if none of them get remastered, at the very least they need to be made available for purchase SOMEWHERE and also at least worked on enough to where they function on modern systems.

True, and Daggerfall didn't even use a true 3D engine, it was sprite-based on a 3D map instead of 3D modeled. And Arena, didn't even use the 3D maps, it has roughly the same kind of level structure as the early Doom games.
I noticed Steam is having a game sale so I went and checked it for Klingon Academy on the off chance it could be on sale. They don't list it at all unfortunately (they do have Starfleet Academy though it is not what the OP is looking for).
I'd love to be able to play Elite Force again, with the Expansion that I never got. Also would love to get a version of SFC3 that doesn't freak out with anything over DirectX9.0c, a working copy of SFC2, maybe also SFC2: Orion Pirates...
