Episode and set rewards feedback

I am disappointed that we have to do yet another event for 20 days to get a ground set - the kind of reward that used to be added to featured episodes, but which will now be available for a limited time only.

Why do we get to pick only a single item as the episode reward? Why not simply add the ground set to the episodes as a reward - so that they can also be available at all times, like you've always done?

I'm not a fan of doing things the way they are being done now, Cryptic. Asking your players to do 20 times as much work as before, reducing the availability of items AND reducing the diversity of items that are put in the episodes at the same time... It's worse in every way.

It's content we'll play anyway so the reward being a ground set doesn't particularly bother me.

I am a bit annoyed that there is yet another version of an engineer kit module made available for everyone.
Can we get some tactical kit module analogs next or will the next reward be an universal kit module with a mortar in it.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Their metrics found that people would rather run an Episode/TFO 20 times to pick up a set of equipment for an Account unlock rather than run an Episode 4 times to get a Character unlock. They must have noted that most Accounts must have run more than 5 Charscters through the old Featured Episodes 4 times each to get full sets. Otherwise, it wouldn't be time efficient.

Their metrics must also have noted that people wanted only cr*p Rewards from the new (Discovery Episodes on) Featured Episodes.

Yes, their metrics are very precise. ;)

It's true. While the thought of playing a TFO 20 times sounds like a lot, you have to remember it's also an account unlock now. In the long run it beats having to play through an episode 3-4 times on every character, and it also means unlocks for every new character you will ever create in the future.

Plus, you can also buy it out. Or partially buy it out, if you want to reduce the price by playing some. The point is, it's nice to have options.

Well since it's an event that gives an account wide unlock of the set, I welcome it. This way I can reclaim this set on any new toon from basically lvl 10, additionally if it can go on my officers, and can be reclaimed multiple times, I can outfit any number of officers with it and I don't have to replay some long mission 3 or four times for every character and officer want to use it on.

Perhaps people didn't notice that Featured Episodes ARE a choice to complete one of the 20 dailies for the Unlocks.

Here are some other variables for these quadratic equation calculations:

    - Old Featured Episodes did have three piece sets. (Now they are four piece for these Events). So that was actually 6 2/3 Characters.
    - Featured Episodes take only 30-40 minutes at most to run. (Do you read and listen and not skip on subsequent play-thrus)? -
    - You could run the old Featured Episodes at any time at your convenience. This requires a commitment during a 30 day window.
    - The old Featured TFO Event Buyout Bundle was considerably cheaper than the current direct buyout, giving 10/14 progress (70%) with an Ultima Tech Upgrade Token for 1,000 Zen (always 800 Zen for the first Weekend). 80 Zen per day vs, 300 per day currently.

New Featured Episodes generally give drop items as Rewards these days.

I'm certain that Cryptic made these adjustments exclusively in our best interests.

As an aside, the Featured Episode used to be worth 40% toward completion of the Anniversary Event,

I think for a set of gear, the event is the better option, but that is from someone who plays the game regularly enough to collect it all. There is no question that for new players down the line, these missions don't offer attractive rewards.

I've been completely underwhelmed by rewards in all the year of the Klingon episodes. Where are the unique interesting weapons that do something besides just being a different color of something we already have? Or what about unique consoles that combine stats you don't find on vanilla stuff, which you can find a number of in other episodes? Even non set unique shield or armor pieces are interesting to help you mix and match better with other non set weapons.

From the start of AoD to the end of YoK, the only items I personally feel are REALLY useful that they've given from missions, and none of them are one-build-fits-all items which is probably a good thing, is the Fek'ihri Torment Engine console (for its insane boost to physical damage, which EPG builds generally have in spades), the Dual Nanopulse Mek'leths (because they have a high attack speed and a lunge, so helps counter the should-not-exist self-root all melee weapons have) and the Nanopulse Energy Torpedo (it deals partial plasma damage and is overall a fairly decent torpedo, so plasma-based torp boats can use it in place of a...less useful plasma torpedo, like the omega or the corrosive)...three pieces of gear, out of multiple dozens.

    Not the best selection.

And no one's said a word about the tetryon mine stuff from the two newest episodes yet, so I can't comment on those.

I personally prefer the current system that allows me to run queues to get the rewards instead of grinding a long story mission over and over and over again.

As for the OPs question about them now being limited time availability, there's a very simple reason:

I used to love having to replay an enjoyable episode to get an entire set. Like the Jem Hadar three-piece ground or the Solanae space, but now it's all press J and grind truly depressing episodes and patrols.

I enjoy the account wide unlock for the gear. The Revolutionary set is an easy claim on any captain and scales until I swap for something better. And for several EPG ship captains, I don't even do that because it's incredibly good for that build. Looking forward to the ground set for the same convenience.

I've found that 2 patrols are quicker and easier than a bad group of To Hell With Honor or Best Served Cold. No comment on new TFO yet, I want to finish the episodes for the first time before that. For event completion itself, the choice is nice.

That said, I agree that putting the set reward back somehow is necessary. Back into the mission as a regular per character reward would be helpful for those who missed it. Maybe after a year if you really want to keep the FOMO going for awhile, or put it in a Phoenix Reward for the Dil sink.

This is without a doubt, the worst decision made...but I suspect, it's a marketing ploy. You have to grind these arduous and boring episodes and patrols, or buy out. Is it possible they're all so bad that people just spend their money to buy out, instead of wasting their time?
