Question about Gravity Kills

Obviously in this TFO we are defending a Jupiter class carrier, and delivering particles to it. What strikes me as odd is this NPC carrier has none of it own fighters? Why doesn't it launch its own npc fighters to assist the players defending it? They don't have to be OP or anything. But I just find it weird that this carrier would take on such a dangerous mission with no wing compliments?

I never thought of this before, but it is rather silly that the U.S.S. Jupiter doesn't launch its own pets.

I don't think it fights at all.

No, to my knowledge the USS Jupiter doesn't fight back at all. Its almost like the majority of its power is being diverted to whatever device we're powering with the Hawking Particles. And while I agree that it is odd that a carrier isn't launching fighters, perhaps lore wise they can't because of proximity to the black hole. Since fighters don't have the power of a full size starship, it could be that they just can't operate in such an intense gravity well without getting sucked in.

well, not for lore, as i launch and use my pets just fine.

Since when does lore affect players?

Honestly Gravity Kills was a lot more fun when the enemy ships were just as vulnerable to the Blach Hole as you were. It made for some creative tactics in dealing with Tzenkethi ships, and made some repulse style builds viable. Then they "fixed" it, and we're back to status quo of "Need more Dakka" while fighting the Black Hole.

When did they "fix" it? I still push ships into the black hole left, right, and center, including the dread. I have an escort built especially for this using the experimental weapon from the Temer as well as repulsor beams.

Quite a while ago. While it is still easy to push them into the black hole, the Tzenkethi ships don't have to fight the black hole as much as we do, making push tactics a lot riskier because we can get pulled past the point of no return trying to push them in.

While it has been a while, I remember when it first came out, and playing golf with Tzenkethi ships was pretty much the number one tactic if you had the capability, because they got pulled in just as easily as players. Then that changed, making it a much higher risk tactic because they weren't flying sidways like players end up doing sometimes. While we do have more ways to push or pull ships around... I think the Tzenkethi ships are still much more resistant to the Black Hole's pull than Players are.

I see what you mean then. Tzenkethi golf sounds like fun. Reminds me of an episode of Futurama.

Tzenkethi Hypermass Hockey is a time-honored tradition...and pretty much the only way to play that horrid queue without going on a murderous rampage.
