Azure Nebula TFO has been revamped

somtaawkharsomtaawkhar Member Posts: 10,222 Arc User
Apparently this update contained a hidden revamp of the Azure Nebula TFO
  • Jarok is now the NPC giving out the mission, instead of Subcommander Mivek. Jarok has no VA work yet.
  • Jarok also gives out little bits of advice/info regarding if you are trapped in the Tholian's web spheres, or when more Tholian ships are incoming.
  • The map is completely revamped, and looks a lot better(no more TRIBBLE gas clouds). Keeps the same basic 4 major asteroids with bases layout.
  • Instead of two back to back optionals of rescuing 10 points worth of ships, there are two optionals running at the same time. One to rescue 7 points in some amount of minutes, and another to rescue 14 in twice that length. Both optionals seem to be much easier to complete due to lowered point requirements.

Here's an image of what the new map looks like

    I saw this last night with my KDF recruit on Xbox. I might have seen it earlier on my KDF recruit on PC too but I'm far from certain.

    The lower limits are nice, and also not losing credit for freeing a ship in between the first and second optional.

    Good to know, somtaawkhar, & thanks for the heads-up.

    Will have to try it out for giggles or anticipate for the next Endeavor.

    Glad to hear though sine I had read the previous versions kept having glitches.

    Now this is a stealth change that is good within a patch.

    If the bonus number has dropped and timer staying the same I'm assuming that the spawn randomiser hasn't been tweaked since the old numbers were very doable if the game actually gave players the opportunity to get enough points. Probably a good thing if its not been tweaked.

    This has been out for about a month....at least on Console.

    This sounds quite nice, I'll definitely hold my thoughts on it next time it comes up in random. I hated this one, but maybe this will make the difference.

    Anyone know if there's been any change in Mark rewards? It's always felt a little underwhelming for the time invested, compared to many newer TFOs.

    This is one of the few revamps they got right. Most of the time I find the revamped systems and revamped TFO's worse then what they repalced. But this one was good, very good even.

    They seem to be adding quite a few hidden updates of late First Narendra with the color change to the clouds to that gorgeous red then I noticed the radiation gateways in Gateway to Greathor have been revamped and now Azure I for one like what Cryptic are doing

    Sounds like good changes. I hope this includes fixing the massive lag bug and broken spawns that seems to happen when this is a universal endeavor.

    ^ Indeed

    At least a month or two on Xbox, and I highly doubt it was revamped on Console before PC.

    The last universal for Azure Nebula wasn't a month ago as I recall, and it was still using the old version back then.

    Then I stand corrected, and thoroughly surprised, because I can guarantee that the Azure nebula revamp is not new on Console. Could they have revamped it on Console first?

    They probably have, since Consoles got the new Caitian/Ferasan hairstyles first, whether by an accidental leak or another non-mentioned patch note.

    "Good" to see some things don't change with the communication between the various departments and the patch note writer.

    Next thing you know, there'll be a model revamp of the Nova or a playable Vorta and nothing will be mentioned about it.

    Heard that the revamps came a bit early, but yes, the revamps are intentional.

    PC Captains are getting an early preview of our remastered Azure Nebula and The Vault Ensnared. Enjoy, and let us know what you think!

    Early preview?? How is it an early preview if it is live on all three platforms?

    I believe the implication is that it's still a work in progress and could be getting more updates in the future.

    Ah, that makes sense. I look forward to any additional revamps.

    The map looks much better indeed.

    The optionals have some good and some bad changes made to them. It's good that you can work on the second optional immediately; there's no need to wait anymore after completing the first one.

    In my opinion, the limits are set too low though. 10 was fine. You couldn't always get it, but that didn't have much to do with the number being set to 10. It'd have been better if they ensured that there were always sufficient spawns so that, if the team is good enough, 10 would be possible to reach. Basically, ensure that the numbers add up, instead of lowering the limit.

    At least the issue of ghost ships - whereby ships would warp out only to reappear sometime later again, requiring a player to fly by the asteroid again before the spawn timer was reset - seems to have been solved now.

    This was one of the worst parts about the old version of the TFO. Especially since no one listened and kept freeing ships anyways!

    I would argue the worst part of the old version was its buggy nature, where the spawn controller would, for lack of a better description, simply crash and stop spawning new ships to rescue. Hopefully that part got similar attention.

    Most of the time the real issue was that bases stopped spawning new ships until someone flew towards the asteroid (which most people would never do) - then a ghost ship would immediately warp out and then the base would reset.

    I play this mission all the time and I've only seen bases totally bug out when Azure was part of the universal endeavour.

    Usually players tended to ignore it because that tactic was rarely required... Why wait if you have a powerful team that can easily collect more points if you don't wait?

    Tactics are fine. But following a certain tactic should not become a goal in itself.

    Next step, 'Reimagine' the Romulan Patrols to add them into the Patrol System (and make them non-eligible for getting the regular Daily Marks Bonus, and quit before end to return without a lockout).

    Good luck on getting 18 Destructible Torpedoes in Carraya on one pass.

    Destructible torpedoes can also quickly be shot down in the Undine battlezone.

    Especially if you have a carrier. Pets won't destroy the main ships too fast but in intercept mode they will quickly shoot down those torpedoes.

    The visual revamp was not necessary and I'm not particularly fond of the new look, but to each their own.
    Another NPC that spams messages, even when they're not necessary, could have been avoided as well - if this is their idea of "guiding" new players, then for the love of Khaless give us the option of disabling these messages. Infected was bad enough, we don't need to expand on that.

    As for the new optionals, they're not an improvement. They're just there to ensure that you have the time to complete at least one, because it's still entirely dependant on RNG, which is the only part they should've fixed... and it's the only one that was not.

    All in all, time wasted.

    Also, double lol at the tweet: not only it came one day later, but it's also just trying to cover the fact that "ooops, someone put them there and they weren't supposed to be in yet, but going back is too much of a hassle so enjoy!". LOL.

    Not agreeing with someone doesn't give you the right to be an TRIBBLE.

    Ci sono tre tipi di giocatori:
    - quelli a cui non va mai bene niente... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
    - quelli che sono talmente imbesuiti da credere a qualunque cosa i dev dicano, perfino che la luna è fatta di formaggio... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
    - quelli che credono a quello a cui è giusto credere, sono d'accordo con quello con cui è giusto essere d'accordo e sono critici con quello che non va;

    Ai giocatori dei primi due tipi, gratis in omaggio un bello specchio lucente su cui arrampicarsi. E una mazzata in testa per la loro poca intelligenza e compassione verso gli altri giocatori che non la pensano come loro.
    Agli appartenenti al terzo tipo, invece, dico grazie. Anche se non sempre si riesce a mantenere la calma, siete quelli per cui vale la pena incazzarsi.

    I go to Udine BZ to finish up the Destructible Torps if I missed some in Carraya (usually killed stuff too fast and the Patrol is complete).
