Every time I change maps, I run about a 50-60% chance that my traits are going to be changed/removed in some capacity. Sometimes it's just one trait reverting to a different one that was previously equipped in that slot, sometimes it's a random trait getting unequipped leaving the slot empty, and sometimes it's all my traits getting unequipped. It's incredibly frustrating to go into a TFO and find myself getting splattered repeatedly in situations I should have no trouble surviving, only to eventually discover, oh hey, my traits got removed AGAIN.
This seems to be most prevalent on my main character that's been around since launch (So 11+ years of playtime), and has hundreds of traits unlocked, but it's also happening on my KDF recruit to a lesser degree. No amount of additional map moving causes the traits to reset to what they're supposed to be, I have to redo the configuration every time. The only workaround I've been able to find is saving a loadout and reloading it with the traits, but there's still a decent chance nothing will happen when I do that, especially if it's a case where all my traits are removed.
Several of my fleetmates (most of whom have been playing as long as me) have reported this issue on their characters as well.

Sadly sometimes Loudout's will loose a Powertray item or two, or 1 Trait may still go missing from time to time; yet it's far less annoying...
They do need to recheck what's causing them to (sometimes) drop though. *thumbs up*
It's gotta be something with the database, hitting transaction limits or something so operations aren't getting saved, or not updating values properly or something. I dunno. It feels like either something's not getting saved properly/permanently or data regression keeps happening.
I've had it happen twice for me, once after Retraining my captain, the other time just now where I don't know what happened. Both times, my personal ground and space traits and starship traits were annihilated from the active tray and all the loadouts I have on my twenty or so ships. Saving the traits to a loadout doesn't help if the loadout doesn't read the traits.

It usually happens when you run a mission where you either fly a different in-mission ship or play a different character ("A Step Between Stars" from Solanae arc, "Revolution" from Delta arc, "Temporal Ambassador" from Yesterday's War, etc.) and then may persist for a while. Since the inclusion of traits in ship loadouts (which weirdly also may come into play uncommanded on map changes at times) switching to one can fix it occasionally, but not always.
After running the notorious "Temporal Ambassador" mission on my new Klingon recruit, all my slotted ground/space default traits ("Field Technician", "Lucky", "Bulkhead Technician", "Beam Training", and so on, i.e ones not bought or acquired via lockbox/mission) were unslotted and/or replaced by random other default traits. I even had a default ground trait in the 6th extra T6-X starship trait slot suddenly (which should NEVER happen) and it took several attempts to store the wanted set of traits back into a ship loadout while in space.
But ship loadouts also notoriously have problems with stacks of consumables (e.g. batteries like Energy Amplifier) slotted in a device slot of a ship, where often it will strip you down to a single battery and unslot the rest of the stack.
EDIT: Retraining skills will for some reason ALWAYS wipe all your slotted ground and space personal traits.
