  • Since Jeremy Randall wasn't able to come, Mike just quickly mentioned the changes and then went off to play some TFOs and talk with the chat.
  • There'll be another emergency patch this week, probably on friday, to fix the multitude of bugs that there are right now.
  • Legendary flanking changes:
  • There'll be general ship flanking buff, so raider flanking would have +33% (improved would have +40%).
  • Leg. Excelsior would be a bit more manoeuvrable, but have a bit less hull.
  • Vor'cha would get 10 TR, same as regular.
  • B'rel won't get new consoles, but consoles themselves would be buffed.
  • Subspace Jumper would get armour pen upon activation.
  • Shield Destabilizer's shield drain was buffed.
  • Both "extra" consoles would be added into Stalth Fighter set with new 3 piece damage bonus that scales with engine power.
  • Mike thinks that universe from DIS S3 would make decent setting for Star Trek MMO.
  • Mike repeated that "any" ship from next event campaign would be character unlock.
  • There will be more legendary bundles this year, but no "big" ones.
  • Mike knows about one that he thinks may get us exited.
  • For ViL they wanted to make player able to summon his other ships, but ended up not working. They made endeavours instead.
  • Ships from LD would eventually make it into STO.
  • Cryptic and Eaglemoss are thinking about what to do with visuals, as they look vastly different from regular ones.
  • No, Cryptic would not add "grilled kelpien" consumable.
  • Mike personally would love to see Badgey in STO, but there are no such plans right now.
  • If Mike understood things correctly, Kuumaarke might feature in next story ark (after Year of Klingon).
  • No update on DIS andorians or Fed orions.
  • No plans for new specialisations right now.
  • Holo Worf from legendary bundle would have STO-era look.
  • From what Mike knows, reason for cloak not being available on all fed ships is purely balance one.

i wonder if those further Legendary (smaller) packs include Romulan Warbirds suchas the good ol' D'Deridex or Mogai Warbirds.

The work done with the T'Varo was fantastic and having the others get a similar rework would be neat! :)

Huh? Since when is balance a thing in this game? :D
For ViL they wanted to make player able to summon his other ships, but ended up not working. They made endeavours instead.

Hm, as interesting as the endeavours may be, summoning other ships would've been much better.

As many times before, thanks somtaawkhar, hopefully by the time I'm reading this synopsis I'll be able to view a recording of it on Twitch or YouTube too. Just perusing your notes have already answered a couple of my questions about these newest changes/improvements.

My highlighted take-aways from the stream:

Bummed that the still missing Winter Wonderland manuals & modules weren't addressed, at least from what I saw/heard.

Mike's thanking of whomever(s) helped him with whatever "transcribing" was a nice gesture.

Taking a few minutes at the beginning to at least acknowledge some Twitch chat questions was nice of Mike.

Mike did state that Cryptic decide, "a hard-no" to this "legendary" B'rel having a weapon layout of 5/1+X, missing the mark imo.

The way Mike described the improvements to the "legendary" B'rel's consoles makes me think the improvements are in addition.

Mike reiterated that the upcoming "meta-event" spanning multiple months rewarding a Promo ship will be character only not account-unlock. I say go wild, shake the economy for those rich-whales, & make them sellable.

I appreciate Mike, at least saying, supporting the re-run of recruitment events especially the Temporal. It's what players want, Cryptic knows it, & still are kicking the proverbial can down the road.

A brief mention about Lower Decks' ships being added but nothing specific about the U.S.S. Cerritos nor timing. :-(

What is legendary flanking? Not something I've seen in game. A buff to flanking damage like a new boff power would be interesting. B)

LOL - the fact they're changing the TR on the Legendary Vor Cha to 10 shows the original 6.5 probably wasn't a typo...they wanted to give it 6.5 as 'balance' - but after the outcry, suddenly it was "Oh, it's a typo - it's supposed to be 9.5...

Yet now suddenly, it's a 10 like the other Vor Cha...

    Yeah, 'typo'... :D

Raiders' Flanking ability used to be: 25% more dmg when behind the target. Improved Raider Flanking ability used to be: 33% more dmg when behind the target. Now regular flanking amount is: 33% & Improved flanking amount is 40% under the same circumstances.

Hehe, if there was a "legendary" flanking ability I'd guess it might be: 50%

    Interesting observation :-)

Watched the recording of it last night out of curiosty.

Was amused to see that someone mentioned the Nova class in the livechat. Kael's response was..... interesting. Firstly a sort of 'we know, it comes up in every livestream' response. The same person (I think?), a little later, said something to the effect of "you might find that players would stop spamming 'We want T6 Nova' messages if you guys actually did something to make it happen". Kael's response was "please don't be a jerk in chat".

Okay.... but lets be honest here - it's true, isn't it.

    Of course it is true.

At the same time, I can imagine he doesn't want a single topic to take up time - time which is, after all, limited during a live stream and working day. I don't think he has that much influence on whether or not the devs make a T6 Nova anyway.

So it would seem that with the next Mega-Event you will need to run five Events on EVERY Character you have to get the special Ship Reward. Selecting something different on each based upon the Character's 'needs'. :(

    I don't think that's what they mean.

It will probably be a single reward that you can pick on one character. That's probably done because promotional ships are so expensive.

Of course, I could be wrong but I'm assuming that you can get 1 ship at most, for the entire event.

That's likely true. However its clear he's tired of someone mentioning this issue each and every livestream; that much is clear from his reaction to the mention of it in Wednesday's livestream. And again, I maintain the opinion that if he is that tired of it being mentioned during each and every livestream he should feed that back to those who DO have influence on "whether or not the devs make a T6 Nova" rather than implying, in a rather unprofessional manner, that a player is being a jerk for basically saying something with an element of truth to it that he didn't want to hear.

If your 'metrics' are telling you one thing, and your players are telling you another, *MAYBE* your metrics aren't capturing the data you think they are. Note that I'm not saying the metrics are *wrong* but any decent data analyst would be raising an eyebrow at this situation and doing a deeper dive into what those metrics are capturing and if that is being understood correctly.

I think it's safe to assume that the metrics tell only part of the story.

If you entice players to log on every day to play the same content, you don't know whether they enjoyed the content. It only shows they thought the reward was worth it.

Which doesn't say a thing about player satisfaction, appreciation of the quality of the content and so on - things that are arguably more important.

Likewise, a limited amount of players flying a Nova, doesn't mean that the ship isn't appreciated. Maybe many players think the console configuration isn't good, the model is lacking in quality or they just don't want to fly a T5 ship when they have plenty of T6s to choose from.

Those are things that are more difficult to measure of course. But that's also the case because measuring such things would require being interested in players' opinions and taking the time to ask them what they want, how they want it and so on (the kind of market research which, obviously, goes further than just making a single poll with one question).

Mike repeated that "any" ship from next event campaign would be character unlock.
What does that mean, actually? We're now going back to "you want this reward, you have to do the whole grind for every character"?
There will be more legendary bundles this year, but no "big" ones.
Greeeaaaaaat, more "1 ship and a lot of overpriced consumable junk" $70-150 packs...
Mike knows about one that he thinks may get us exited.
    *chuckles* We're in danger.
For ViL they wanted to make player able to summon his other ships, but ended up not working. They made endeavours instead.
    ... What?
How are those two things even related? That's like saying "hey, we tried to make an autonomous car, but we failed, so instead, have some cherry-flavored popcorn."
[*] No, Cryptic would not add "grilled kelpien" consumable.
Terran Empire faction officially jossed forever!
No plans for new specialisations right now.
Good, fixing Intel and Command to make them on par with MW should be a goal first.
From what Mike knows, reason for cloak not being available on all fed ships is purely balance one.
Yeah, choosing between an Aspero and a Ra'nodaire is a very tough choice considered how the balance is great between the two...

While I could see potential issues with Fed ships having an innate battle cloak, I kinda fail to see how a basic cloak (especially when the Vengeance has one) or a battle cloak requiring 3 console slots would make much difference.
