I kinda saw this coming. I agree it would have been better to add some more categories instead, but I can see how some things need limits for balance. I'm still in the 300s (having only started the game less than 2 years ago), but my biggest issue with Endeavor perks has been the fact that since I play several styles, I keep my points even, prioritizing the area with the fewest points whenever I get a new one. I can't find any way to "reroll" for a new choice-of-three, so I spent a good 6 months with almost no points in Shield Hardness (Ground) due to bad luck of it never coming up. So essentially, if they added new categories, how would we be able to put them in just those empty categories instead of the ones that are full? There's probably a way I don't know about yet, but still, it's a consideration.

That aside, when they announced the Endeavor bonuses for Recruits, they explicitly mentioned it being designed to help people who are behind to catch up with those who have more. I can get behind that for sure. It's all still a net benefit up until they decide to buff NPC enemies to compensate, and if that happened it would definitely feel kind of pointless. So really, playing "catch up to others" is not really the right framing.

After an Endeavor perk is maxed out, it will NEVER show up as an option to spend perk points on.

What would have made more sense was to have the objectives for the Recruit be to complete an Endeavor. Each one completed counts as 1. Allow running Endeavors even after reaching 450 but all you would get is the Reward Box and no Endeavor XP. This would prevented the really ridiculous extra creep.

If they were insistent on keeping us on the wheel, they could have added 10 new Perks instead. Just laziness.

This would have been a vastly better solution.

The only real issue with the Endeavor will be certain space damage types. I currently have a character set up with each type of damage and I run that character on the Endeavor depending on what damage type is needed.

Since for now, I'll have to do all Endeavors on my Recruit, I am going to claim a bunch of C-Store ships.. one for each damage type, claim the ship over and over for the scaling beams. I'll then pick a ship, set it up as a FAW build and just keep the cheap scaling weapons for each type and swap them out per endeavor.

It's not perfect, but it's cheap and easy.. her main weapons are Disruptors and I am not going to craft her high quality weapons of all types. I could just make some cheap Mark II Beams in each flavor and upgrade them during the upgrade weekend, but even that seems like more effort then it's worth. I'm going to cheap out on it.

I was thinking of mix and match hangar pets myself. Already found ones for 4/6 the energy types (phaser, disruptor, plasma, polaron)... the Tactical Flyers from the Legendary pack, and the squadrons off the Rom, KDF, and JHV support carriers. Just need some tet and AP.

For Tetryon, there are the Caitian and Tholian hangars, and for Antiproton, there are the Obelisk Swarmers, and the Rozhenko/Aeon Timeships.

100,000 k XP is 5 perk points worth... you can earn that in somewhere around a week.

nay for me sir. probably longer. i dont do all endevs on the list each time. let alone with one toon. i try my best, but if this has to be on one toon, it will be longer than a week for 5 perk points.

It's just a matter of knowing how. :)

    https://www.sto-league.com/personal-endeavors-and-ways-to-finish-them/

Some aspects for your new recruit toon:

    - Leave partialy pre-completed key missions on ground locations where you fight tzenkethi, terrans or hurq open so you can transwarp and re-run em easily for you to get the kills
    - You currently get tons of free weapons out of the daily reputation boxes. Keep them as they cover lots of different energy types for ground and space.
    - Have shield and hull healing abilies on a secondary back up boffs ready to use in the patrol "Blockade Runner" on the ship that requires repairs.
    - Use re-roll token wisely. Play PvE tasks are not worth the effort most of the time and have you dependant on others.

It's new to me as well to do it with one character but was not that hard to re-arrange.

Tetryon is a tough one, the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Vorgon or Tholian pets but they're ship locked.

Putting one or two cheap beams of a different type on my normal ship and running a TFO or Patrol is also a pretty good idea.

Unfortunately (as mentioned elsewhere) the free swarmers are ship locked... to get unlocked ones you have to pay.

Right, I guess they can be pricey just for endavors.

Do you happen to own the Chronos or Eternal? Their hangar pets use AP.

They're ship locked, but they're 'free.'

I don't like this, it widens the power gap significantly. I don't like these MMO systems where it takes years to catch up, if its even possible.

That said, and I've said it before, endeavors are a bit different in that regard as most of the power comes from a few perks, like crit chance. And if you can focus in those when you get them it does effectively narrow the gap more quickly. That's still months of grind and luck, though.

Zen buyouts for Admiralty.. you know it's coming.. and it's going to be ridiculously over priced.

I finished a Tetryon endeavor with Mk2 crafted beams and consoles. Took mere minutes to craft and then threw it on a free T5 ship, patrol, done. Kind of hilarious, actually.

I would say "why, what is the point?" but yes we know someone will buy it. Admiralty is one of the easier things to go through and going through it can earn a lot of rewards, especially XP, and it doesn't stop at the top level.

I guess if someone really wants to open up their slots they'd use it, but I don't see the value.
