zintul101zintul101 Member Posts: 1 Arc User
You know really it be nice if we could have just one t6 connie or classic D7... in the zen store ... i mean you got the enterprise d and just about every other iconic ship... it be be nice to have these

and NOT a legendary Bundle for pete sakes i dont have $300 canadian every time like 25000 zen .... geez do you guys ;look at what the cost will be for thers in a different country?

and every time its a legendary bundle for a ship ... and so you bring out multiples of it when i only want one of them... just 1

i only want 1 ship i dont need 18 copies of the same ship
let us buy just the ship we want...

They just aren't going to do that....they clearly want it expensive to obtain them. I'm sorry

Plus, they've been raking in cash hand over fist on those things being 'rare', so there's little reason for them to change course even if they were allowed to.

Its been stated that it is by direct request of the IP holders that there is to be no C-Store Connie or D7. It has nothing to do with raking in the money. They KNOW they'd make a ton off a C-Store Connie and D7. However if the IP holder vetos it, then there is nothing Cryptic can do. The Overlords have spoken.

Cryptic does have to run things by CBS, and if they say no... then Cryptic has to abide by the decision of the IP holder.

WHY is TOS such a NO NO series, yet all the other ones are "OKAY" with cbs?

Plus they seem fine with a million Vengeance class out there.......

    Uh... what?

As for the Vengeance... it was a ship from a movie, a villain ship, and its Lobi Store. Not C-Store. The Vengeance isn't as iconic as the very ship that started Trek.

I personally don't think CBS' original rarity requirement is in play anymore, but an individual Connie of any variant is unlikely for the C-Store since all three were in the 10th Anniversary Legendary Bundle (unless they decide to offer those ships individually at some point, but there's no reason to think they'll ever do that). As for the D7, I'm kinda expecting it to be part of a Klingon level 65 Boost Bundle, probably around the same time that the final Klingon Civil War episode comes out. I personally would prefer the Negh'Var, but since the D7 seems more popular it would probably sell better.

Obviously, the whole no endgame c-store TOS connie no longer holds true as you get them in the legendary bundle. And since people are willing to buy the WHOLE bundle for that ONE ship...why would they ever sell it individually for less? Unless they make that one ship like 200+ USD ALONE...at which point, why would you ever NOT buy the bundle? They are not going to sell a c-store TOS connie for 6000 zen. Not until the game is about to die and they are going for the final milking of the game.

    Bingo.

Believe the whole 'CBS said no' excuse if you want.. but that went out the window a long time ago. They will never sell the single ship for the very reason quoted above. If you think anything else, sorry.. but you're naive.

CBS has nothing to do with it anymore. People are buying $200+ packs to get the ship.. that's what the market says it's worth. Why would they sell it for less if they don't have to?

Hypothetical question, based on nothing but my own curiosity: if ships like these were sold in the C-store with the canon visuals, but not-as-good stats as a promo box version, would that interest folks? And, on the same note, if you bought those ships, would you no longer want the promo box versions with better stats?

Some of us cant afford the promo boxes in order to get the ones with better stats.
We can only afford whats in the c-store with a decent price and not these overpriced packs that are comming out lately.

Would not-as-good stats be something simple like just not being a full spec ship, or actual stats like worse shields/hull? I could probably see me buying a D7/Connie that just doesn't have something like innovation or inspiration, but not worse hull points or shields, and I would probably still want a full spec promo version if I got lucky.

Thanks for asking, and don't take what I'm about to say in anger, or in an attacking way whatsoever.
I'm just very opinionated on the matter...

I already don't want, nor even try to get, promo ships.
Promo ships are of literally zero interest to me. In 11 years of playing I have never gotten, and will never get, a character-only promo ship (yeah, promo ships haven't been around 11 years, I know). This is also why I'm very disappointed about the upcoming meta-event.

Ships stats mean very little to me. I fly ships because I like them, not because they have some super awesome BOFF layout or must-have console. Traits and consoles don't hurt, but the look is the primary reason I get a ship. This is why I didn't get the MW cruiser bundle, those ships are ugly to me. I'd never even flown a MW ship at all until the Gagarin.

    TL;DR:
So yes, if there are canon ships in the C-store, I will buy them*, as I did the 10th Anniversary legendary bundle. No, they will not affect my desire to get promo ships, because I don't desire them now.

    * As long as they aren't in some super-inflated useless bundle. Mirror-bundle is sorta ok, rom, dsc and new 11th anni legendary bundles are not.

    Yes.

Even with reduced stats from the promo box version, I could still easily equip it to thrash advanced or even Elite Content. Simply put, we are not at a point where we need every last point we can get to be able to handle content and I frequently fly ships that aren’t ‘top of the heap’ because I like the way they look. Those ships still absolutely wreck any content I use them for.
And, on the same note, if you bought those ships, would you no longer want the promo box versions with better stats?

I would still likely be interested in one copy of the promo ship if I wanted to give it to a main that was focused on getting every last possible point of performance, but overall the answer is probably no. I should qualify this though by saying I am no longer going after promo box ships at all because I am just simply tired of the cost associated with them.

The Legendary ships are exactly this in most cases. They are worse their their lockbox/promo counterparts

I think people realize that. And that's why they are disappointed in the new bundle only giving slightly better versions of existing c-store ships, not ships that are almost impossible to get, like the D7.

What's even the point of asking this question?

I mean, I sure as heck did want the Temporal Light Cruiser, Kael, but y'all wouldn't let me have it.

Though perhaps that, too, is misleading. I didn't want a promo ship, per se; I wanted a ship that was only available as a promo. Or simpler than that, I just wanted to fly around in a Star Trek game with my favorite ship. And that turned out to be one hell of a lot to ask for.

Then comes that 10th Anniversary bundle where I could, for the first time in 10 years, get my Connie with 100% chance as an account unlock for half the cost I spent chasing it as a single-character unlock.

When the bundle landed, I didn't know if I should have just taken it, or reject the offer out of being upset that its existence meant I was no longer a gambler, but a sucker.

Though what I think and feel doesn't really matter. You already got my money. Can't be unspent.

Whether I got the bundle for one ship or not, there'd be no joy in it anymore. Just bitterness.

I would definitely be interested regardless of stats, and I only buy promo boxes with my lifetime stipend so it wouldn't affect my promo box purchase habits. Promo ships will always be desirable, but due to the low drop rate I pretty much just right them all off as unobtainable. The only Promo ships I'm currently interested in are the Universe class and the Freedom exploration frigate.

I think most people are disappointed with the 2021 bundle for two reasons:

    1) It only has two Klingon ships in it
    2) It has a bunch of unwanted junk stuffed in to inflate the cost to Cryptic's desired price point. If they needed to hit a certain price then they should have built enough ships to actually warrant such a price, not cram in a bunch of bloatware and expect people to be happy with making the purchase.

I would use Dil to Zen to buy C-Store inferior version for the skin of a nice looking ship, and probably not care about its superior variant as I don't chase DPS but try to enjoy the game however possible.

Some ships do deserve better performance though, like a D'Deridex, D7, Bortasqu, carriers in general, even if not box ship level, at least something deserving of their 'legendary' status like all too many fed ships already got.

    Yes yes yes...

I refuse to buy or invest in single-character ships... Even a simplified version in the c-store would be appealing to me simply because it would be account unlocked...

I have 0 interest in gamble mechanics, and I don't feel like grinding credits for a single-character ship from Exchange.

So for me, making any C-store version means an accessible sale. I don't think that's a loss, since to me, I won't buy lockbox keys or Promo boxes anyway. Lesser version is not a factor to me.

A "What If" like this is difficult to truly answer because we can say one thing and act in different manner.

I think Legendary pretty much made your hypothetical ship sail. They generally have everything you're looking for in a "not-as-good" T6 but add something useful compared to your version.

    * All previous costumes.
    * Compared to Lockbox/Lobi/Promo versions, potentially inferior for the min/max player.
    * All previous versions' gear/traits.
    * Account unlocked.

Would we keep chasing the Lockbox/Promo versions? I guess you have the Erhardt/Fleet Engle Strike Wing Escort to help with that theoretical. It's a canon look (Fleet Engle), available in the C-Store (Erhardt), not sure if it's strictly inferior though I can say it doesn't have the main desired trait from the Mirror Engle. If people are getting both, you have your answer. See also the Malem (in either a Starter Pack or for the ship itself) vs. the Legendary T'Liss vs. the Temporal Warbird. Also, last year's 10-ship Legendary pack vs. Temporal Light Cruiser/Miracle Worker Flight Deck Carrier/Crossfield Science Spearhead/Mirror Crossfield/NX Refit.

Having bought most, if not all, of the Legendary bundles so far, I can say this personally (and only for myself): For ships that are/were previously only available as Lockbox/Lobi/Promo single-character ships...while I wish I had the original Lockbox and/or Promo versions instead as superior ship platforms, the Legendaries do just fine on their own. I'm not a min-maxer. I don't need a Miracle Worker Flight Deck Carrier when a Legendary Temporal version will suit my needs just fine, has everything else the Promo version has, and is account-unlocked (and now with Cross-Faction Flying truly is fully account-unlocked). Same with the Legendary T'Liss. The Legendary Shenzhou, I'm not sure as that's a toss-up, but I like the visual design so that was a way to get it account-unlocked even though it's not the same as the Lobi version.

For my EC, I'd generally rather have unique experiences. When the next "Meta Event" hits, I'm looking at an Elachi Sheshar to finish off my Elachi-themed character's All Elachi ship collection. I'm not looking for the ships that have also been in Legendary Bundles or Mudd's Market packs I already own or can buy in the future, even if they're strictly superior to the Legendary versions. At least, not unless they're account-unlocked.

I think account-unlocking powerful versions of ships at a reasonable stand-alone "no fluff" price is your key, not offering lower-grade versions that for all intents and purposes are just for the costume.

But this is just one person's thoughts and ramblings at a time when his brain should be shutting off and going to bed. ha ha!

I'd say yes but it's so vague. Like if you took the resolute and slapped a d7 skin on it and tried to sell it I think there would be a ton of pissed off people.

If you made them decent and c-store than yeah think it'd be fine

The whales will always buy the promo ships.

The casuals who can't afford the promo ships will buy the Cstore versions.

    You'll make money both ways.
