It will, in time. They have already said they have been unable to recreate the error so they basically need to strip it down. Look how long it took to fix the tailor bug which is in the maintenance for today. You need to remember they are all working from home so resources aren't readily available as they might usually be.

As stated, they can't reproduce the bug in-house, which means they can't fix it. It works on their systems. Go to the Support forum and post information they can use, such as the Character's Career, Race, EXACT Faction (TOS, DSC, 2409 FED, KDF, KDF/ROM, FED/ROM, KDF/JEM, FED/JEM). Cryptic have said they need more information, and no-one is posting it. I play both PC and XB, and even I can play through the episode without issue. I think it is an issue with a specific faction, but you need to give them the information 'it's bugged' does not help.

I wouldn't say they can't fix it without reproducing it, but it will monumentally harder task, as they'll have to essentially read every single line of code in the game and look for unintentional interactions there. a game the size of STO will have millions if not billions lines of code, so even if they dropped everything and only focused on fixing this one specific bug it would take a long time to fix (as in most likely at least a year) and in any realistic scenario it'll take even longer.
That is by the way the reason why they ask for as much info as possible for bug reports, the fewer lines of code Cryptic has to check the easier (and thus faster) it is to for them to fix the issue, honestly I don't get why people seem to treat this data as some Top Secret they never must tell Cryptic about instead of the vital data they should always give without prompting it is.
It doesn’t work for me on any faction being Starfleet, Romulan or Jem’Hadar. Also being Tactical, Science or Engineering. Every time I go to board the Enterprise, it says map transfer failed.
Since the mission seems "borged" for most or all players AND the anniversary giveaways is currently active beginning today I think Cryptic could do an extra nice surprise, since seemingly Cryptic has ceased giving away ships as the big finale at least as last year's recollection. Cryptic should release the: Ambassador Support Cruiser Retrofit & the Kamarag Battlecruiser Retrofit T5 versions for players which was a step-up compared to the mission reward, I think 3rd anniversary. Just a pipe-dream but it wouldn't hurt anything ... probably.

What characters do you have Leemwatson and what department are they?

Have you tried running on a Klingon player. That is the only faction you say you haven't done yet.
