Fek'lhri S'torr Ship questions...

keepcalmchiveonkeepcalmchiveon Member Posts: 4,292 Arc User
To those of you who have it, had it, and /or currently flying it...

1. Is it available as a buy option on the exchange? (Currently on phone so can't check) I know it's in mudd's market.

2. Are the console and the trait good? Good and bad about them.

Any other input appreciated.

Sorry it was a winter event ship, so your only option to get it is thru Mudd's.

I've used it. It's quite a good ship. The console isn't bad, not the best, or a must-have. Trait is okay too.

I've set one up for disruptors to use for disruptor damage endeavors on one account and it does really well with it.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

Apart from the aesthetics, the ship isn't anything particularly special. It's a 4/4 escort, and does that just fine. The trait and console are really not very useful. Think about how often you want enemies grouped up right behind you, and the problem becomes pretty self evident. Maybe if you're flying something like the vorgon ytijara, which has a 3/5 weapon layout, or possibly mines, which I've never really played, it could be useful. The boost to fire damage on the console is nearly useless, since there are very few opportunities to do fire damage outside the console itself, and there are better sources of extra control or impulse speed. If you want to kind of test the console effect before buying, I think it's pretty similar to the discovery rep space active that pulls an asteroid behind you that sucks in enemies, tethered non-baryonic asteroid.

I ground out the ship during the relevant Winter Event. It doesn't get used much. I would definitely not pay the current Mudd prices for it. If deeper discounts than 50% ever come back to the Mudd store, like the one 85% off sale they had, then maybe.

Console is entertaining but not that powerful, and fire damage is pretty rare, so it being and buffing that doesn't help much in the damage department. The Maw Of Gre'thor Trait, also entertaining, particularly in combination with the above console, still isn't that great of a performer.

All in all, there are a fair number of ships more powerful for less Zen, though none of them are literally on fire. There might be another Fek'Iri ship for this years Winter Event, so maybe wait for that instead.

Of all the former Event ships, I'd only consider the Bajoran Interceptor a must have for it's console (though, that'd be single-char unlock from the Phoenix box currently), and maybe the Breen Plesh Tral Heavy Raider if you're using Aux2Bat for it's trait Cold-Hearted. Most others are OK performers, but not worth the high cost from Mudds or Phoenix, and the cost is probably still a bit too much on average for single char unlocks of the Bajoran and Breen ships I mentioned.

your a bit off on some of this, the ship itself has bursts of fire damage coming out the ship, also the trait gives you a burst behind you for quite a bit of distance also fire damage. so once you have the T5 trait unlocked and pull them to the ship. it shreds NPC ships pretty quickly. However beyond that if you put the console in other ships i have used it in the current TFO to drag Dilithium ships away from the Outposts so instead of the outpost taking the hit... I do and I survive most the time

    S'torr console + Lock Trajectory + Fe'rang console = flambé'd foes

It's a pretty amusing way to keep the probes busy in ISA or just to bust out in any large group of ships you can fly through, assuming you can tank the inevitable damage they'll throw at you.

Yup and if you do harder missions rankings you get huge ramming effects from the ship too. And from running Future Proof missions the second missions set is impressive for shields and getting pretty "Tanky" its probably one of the best story missions I have done for gear that is OP imo.

Console is a bit more forceful/sticky than other collection abilities and it can do a LOT of burst damage if you're specced into EPG(I like using it on my 'vacuum' builds).

Trait can do acceptable damage, but keeping things directly behind you for the sporadic bursts is.. awkward(the cone is fairly narrow so you have to keep very straight and it's easy to move too far away at the speed required to proc it). I use it on my 'fire dragon' Acheros, but the cumbersome usage and middling damage really isn't impressive enough to justify the trait slot beyond fluff reasons.

Ship itself is an old-style 4/4 Warship layout. The Temporal Warships with their 5/3 weapon layouts are better/more useful for most situations(they also have a nice console/trait). It's not bad, but probably would have been more interesting with a 3/5 layout to synergize and stand out.

so i also just got wind that i can only use the trait on this ship. it does not allow me to use it on other toons since this ship is not a legendary one.

so that would leave the console and while interesting, not worth it for just that.

That's a Myth, I have the ship F-art fire from other ships I own when the trait is slotted....

Edit: I Could grind out the ship trait on my new 65, I no longer have the character who had the trait, would only take me a couple hours to do maybe 4 at most. I can post pics in other ships. Just let me know.

odd. i will look again. i read that the only traits you can slot are from boxes, etc, or legendary ships. that work from toon to toon.

so to make sure if i am reading your post right, if i got the ship and got the trait xp'd up, i should be able to use it on other toons/ships?

Ah i see what your saying, No not on another character how it works is you have the ship you claim it grind out the ship on another character... you have to do this with like 90% of ships anyhow. but here is a tip. Go to Patrols, do 9th Rule of Acquisition. its easy takes ten minutes and is repeatable every 15 minutes. but you asked if you could Put the trait in other ships if you 'Have" the trait to which the answer is Yes. your question is actually in two parts if i look at it. first being you said you can only use it on 'This Ship" False. and i cant equip it on another toon... False too but needs to be grinded out.

But if you buy it from Mudd’s is the ship still account unlocked and reclaimable? You need to level the ship mastery on each character that you want to use the trait on.

Now the event ship is reclaimable, but I don’t remember if the Mudd version is or not. The initial blog (unsurprisingly) was not helpful on that question either.

Thanks for confirming and explaining it very clearly!

Its a good-not-great warship with very cool looks. Like others said event ships are never on exchange. Just if you done the event you can reclaim on any existing and future characters on the account. Since its a warship it has the classic destroyer trait pack that is quite offensive as all 4 ship trait tiers before the 5th are of offensive nature(e.g. adds crtH and ctrD) but what doesnt let it "take off" is it has 4/4 instead 5/3 weapon layout. In other words, based on performance the JH Warship from c-store is better

Except one thing you forgot, it can be upgraded to T6-X which means its 5/4

Uh.. what? I thougth T6-X gets additional universal console, device and trait slot, not the weapon slot?

It can't be 5/4. No Ship has that many Weapon Slots. T6X does not add a Weapon Slot. Universal Console slot.

thanks all for the clarification. i am still uncertain but may bite the bullet when there is a deeper discount for the ship.

I've got my through the event 2 years ago and made an average antiprotobuild on my KDF Tac Toon. From the stats it is a solid warship, but i didn't like the look of it very much. From time to time i drag it out of the hanger and fly some TFO's. It still kicks tribbels out of space.

I've have attached a short vid if you like to took a closer look on it.

Combining the console and trait from the S'torr with the Fek'iri dread trait and console can be fun too since (iirc) the fire ring also triggers on mine rolls so you can use it without fighters on the S'torr. Chains of Fire gives a small but still useful passive maneuverability increase in addition to its fire damage buff so it is not a case of not being useful at all outside of boosting fire.

Combined with other consoles and traits that boost defense and damage in the rear arc it can be even better. And there is the odd chance of amusing stunts like an escort dragging that named Tarantula from the Tholian red alert though a bunch of gravity wells and other singularities while slow roasting it. It can be a fun ship and the 4/4 layout can be taken advantage of with with the right mix of weapons (too many possibilities to list), but on the other hand it is not a must-get either.

It would be nice if they did an event campaign that had a token with the option of getting a single Mudd ship (I would really like the Benthan cruiser, it is one of very few VOY ships that I actually like) but alas that is probably never going to happen so waiting on a better than average sale is probably the best bet if you really want to get it.
