Was this player based or NPC based. Because the Borg don't really have anything to mess with your ability to target things. The Queen I think can do something like an Antimatter Spread, but normal Borg don't do that.

Normal borg only tractor and "board" your ship while obliterating the shields.
I barely see what the Diamond does whenever I end up in HO because it usually dies really fast.
From what I remember diamonds tend to have Feedback Pulse, Aceton blasts, and I believe Antimatter Spread, as well as a few other things.
Ah... here we go... https://sto.gamepedia.com/Borg_Queen's_Octahedron
Has a list of all the Queen's abilities. I believe for all intents and purposes other diamonds have the same capabilities.
In the case of the 'diamonds', it's likely Antimatter Spread. Specifically, it's likely the Placate and Perception components of that ability that are hiding it from your view. Science Team will clear it(and other abilities that cast similar debuffs).
Other encounters you'll see stuff like this used are things like Hirogen Battleships and Hierarchy Cruisers - which both cast Jam Targeting Sensors(Placate) to 'stealth' from you.
My guess is some strange type of lag or bug. I've seen quite a lot of times where NPCs including the cube or a gateway just vanish for a few seconds only to reappear. I don't think it's a player power, or bug as a result of such - no Dauntless were around at the time to attribute the bug to its console or anything of the sort. It is just random and kind of rare.
Devs: Provide the option to Turn OFF full screen flashes from enemy ship explosions

I've seen this before and I have no idea what it is, but I'm fairly certain it is a player ability. Jam sensors is not used by the enemies I've seen this affect, and I am fairly certain this effect has happened on enemies I haven't yet attacked or should have no real threat built up against, like if I'm cleaning up trash before focusing on the dreadnought. That's why I think it is a player ability, but I've got no idea what it is.

I'm telling you man... its either Antimatter Spread or Scramble Sensors. And we KNOW that most NPC versions of Player abilities are more powerful, especially coming from boss ships. Hell... player based tachyon beam's shield drain is rather pitiful unless its off a straight up dedicated drain build, and is limited to the forward arc becuase its deflector based. But bog standard Borg ships use it and your shields are stripped in seconds, and it has a 360 arc as far as I can tell. I have never been able to get out of a Borg Tachyon Beam by maneuvering around it.
I'm pretty sure it's player based, the disappearing ship is surrounding by purple energy before it disappears. I don't always see this and I'm sure it's something new. It has also occurred in other TFOs.
Are there any particular ships in your group when this happens? I think the Bortasqu' has some kind of ability that teleports a ship in front of them.
Purple energy rules out Antimatter Spread. But I think Scramble Sensors still sends out like a blue pulse. But I can't... wait a second...
I GOT IT!
Purple energy... disappears... if this is when it hits 0 HP...
Dark Matter Quantum Torpedo from Discovery Rep!
Just like with the Omega Torpedo, if an enemy dies while under the debuff from the torpedo it doesn't just blow up like normal. It will fizzle out, generally without a warp core breach!
Its not an ability... its a weapon! The Dark Matter Quantum Torpedo leaves a DoT on the enemy. If they die with that DoT still on it... pfft. No boom! It just disentegrates!
The enemy returns after awhile. I'm not sue if it's low hitpoints at the time. I'm pretty sure I had to keep hammering the Tac Cubes this happens on before they detonate. It's a pain as you can't target them until they get back. It's annoying.

We have a bug in HSE for ages that turns off the visuals of countless ships temporarily. It seems to have something to do with the players launched pets like fighters and wingmen.
I suspect this to be the problem here instead of a (new) ability/power.

I actually never noticed that.
Of course, every time we play HSE, I am usually too busy frantically pressing buttons and trying not to die.
Lol @seaofsorrows me too... and I appear to become senile.
Did HSE countless times with Feli & co. during ViL. I still remember him saying „Guys how often did I tell you to ... your pets or the critters bug out?!“. Now, if I could just remember what ... was. 😑
Just did an Infected and the Big Tac Cube at the end got hit with the purple death. It disappeared and several seconds later actually warped back in and I and the team had to pound it for awhile to kill it!?!

Never seen Borg use this tho.
Never noticed, but then again I played Hive Onslaught very few times only. Perhaps other squadmates ate those.

She's got Scramble Sensors.

There are NPC's that use this ability, but as far as I know, Borg are not one of them. The Borg Queen does not have any such ability.
I'm pretty confident that the ability in question is either Antimatter Spread or Scramble Sensors, as those are used by Diamonds.

Then I have absolutely no idea.
