Now you might notice I didn't include Klingon ships on here, and there is a reason for that. That reason being, I'm undecided which way to go with them.
Klingon faction ships are odd in that, while they retain the same obvious design improvements between tiers that Fed and Rom ship designs do, Klingon ship designs tend to get progressively larger over the tiers, whereas Fed and Romulan ships of the same type remain roughly the same size. This means that Klingon ships are unable to use the parts from the lower tier ships, even if its obviously meant to be the upgrade of the same ship, unlike Fed and Rom ships which can.
We can see this the most in the Klingon raptor line. If you looked at just the images for the T2 Somraw, the T3 Qorgh, the T4 Pach, the T5 Qin, and the T6 Qa'Tel, you could be forgiven for thinking the parts should be interchangeable, given that its obviously just an increasingly upgraded version of the same ship. But, in reality, you can't because the ship keep getting bigger, making the parts from the smaller tiered ships not functional for the higher tier ones. A similar program exist with the Gorn, Orion, and Nausicaan ships. Each has their own line from T3 to T6, and each tier is an obvious upgrade to the previous one, but you can't use the parts from various tiers with each other due to size/shape differences.
On one hand, if I wanted to simply categorize it by the technical upgrade path, only the Klingon Dyson Science Destroyers, and the Fek'Ihri Kar'Fi Battle Carrier, don't have T6 versions(unless you count the Fek'Ihri Fe'rang Dreadnought Carrier as the T6 Kar'Fi). From an interchangeable visual stance however, like half of Klingon ships don't have a T6 ships that can use the parts from lower tier versions.
I do find it funny to note that, out of the 26 faction specific ships(using the technical stance for Klingon ships) that don't have a T6 version, 15 of them are science vessels, and 9 of those are the Dyson Science Destroyers.
Bring on the year of science ships Cryptic!
Comments
True, the Luxury Cruiser was originally tentatively scheduled to be this year's summer ship until they changed their minds and had the science ship design poll and kicked the cruiser to next year's summer ship. Hopefully they will actually do it next year, though if they come up with something better that is good too.
Saber would be neat, too - but tbh the model just needs a bit more detail and access to new materials.
I would like those too - Science-destroyers sadly didn't take off as they should have IMO (the mirror-Crossfield proved that they'd be the best hybrids if built properly). Also, their unique design is a plus.
I'd blame the non-removable weapons, however those destroyers were clearly designed around using the Dyson-rep-sets. At least the weapon-set.
This was not a good thing, in my humble opinion.
It gave Romulans more access to Sci ships if Fed Allied. Something that Romulan players have had a LOT of problems with. Hell... KDF players also kinda suffered from the lack of Sci ships.
And more options is always good. You can still fly a warbird if you choose, but you also have access to other ships, and the traits that come with them. No more having to spend ECs on a dwindling supply of cross faction traits from allies like Reciprocity (Fed) or Overwhelming Force (KDF).
Surely a freighter trying to protect itself from pirates needs more firepower than a shuttlecraft...I'm hauling dilithium!!!
How about a T6 Tuffli! Upgrade weapons to 3,2, add some higher rank boff seats, and let me (and other players) access it's bank/exchange from the exterior in sector space!
Dabo girls included?
A T6 Tuffli or Kobayashi would be a 'Q' Ship. WWII meaning, not the all powerful being.
l don't know.
l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
Edit, i forgot the T4 is the Hermes, by bad
The Cheyenne is one of my favorites, but the Nova/Rhode Island should really be on top of the list. No contest whatsoever.
