Re: Ticket 292144: Regularly Experiencing Rubber Banding

Hello, I've been experiencing lag and rubber banding ever since I started playing STO. I was hoping that it would clear up eventually but it hasn't. I spent some time troubleshooting this problem with advice from support. Here are my results...

1) I disabled on On-Demand patching when I started playing a couple of months ago, still disabled.
2) Proxies are disabled.
3) Tried safe mode, no change.
4) RivaTuner Statistics Server, MSI Afterburner, Razer Chroma, Razer Synapse, and SteelSeries Engine 3 software are not present on my machine.
5) Disabled Windows 10 Firewall, no change.
6) I'm using a Gigabit wired connection to my router. Linksys WRT-1900AC. Cable internet.
7) I use Window 10 Defender Anti-Virus.
8) Power cycled Cable Modem and Router, no change.

What I have observed is that the rubber banding occurs when there are a lot of clients in the same instance as me. If I change to an instance that isn't full, the problem goes away until the instance fills up. GM Chancellor Knuckles recommended that I post my issue to the bug report forum so the QA team may see it. I'm providing my tracert info below for your review in case it is helpful.

its been a thing in the game for years. they know it, but they wont fix it.

I would appreciate an official statement from Cryptic regarding the performance issues as I am reluctant to invest in the game if there are no plans to address this. I find it difficult to enjoy the game as it fells like I'm fighting to move forward like my character/ship is moving through quicksand.

well, supposedly they are going to apply a "fix" in Oct, or such time, and see if that will help/reduce/eliminate the lag. this was presented in the 10-forward posted by stawm in the general discussion area.

    we shall see.

Correct. @ambassadorkael#6946 said that new tech was to be introduced

I would like to report that, for me, the rubber banding has been reduced approximately 80%. While not perfect, the game is quite playable and enjoyable. Thanks to everyone for the adjustment!
