Would be nice if we could get some updates to shuttles, something that hasn't changed in 10 years.
If we could get an overhaul with say 3 forward weapons slots, 2 aft weapon slots. Lt Cmdr Uni, Lt Uni & 2 Ens Uni Boff slots and maybe 2 slots each for Eng/Sci/Tac consoles.
Something that would bring a little bit of life to shuttles/support craft.
Wouldn't that make them a bit weird in terms of how they work.
With that weapon layout and bridge officer arrangement its almost a T4 Bird of Prey and similar to a T3 Escort.
I know shuttles have been left behind a lot but that might partly be due to how there is A: not much to do with them and B: they are a tad boring.
Also Why would most players want to use shuttles over there actual star ship.
It would take a fair bit of new and interesting content to perhaps even warrant the Devs looking into shuttle craft and such.

To an extent yes, maybe not as powerful as a T4 but something in line with a Lt Cmdr ship. Let's face it we have the Delta Flyer and Catian Stalker that have more or less the same abilities as a class 7 shuttle. Even in the TV show certain shuttle classes like the Flyer had 4 Officers and Advanced Weapons.
And yes again, shuttles haven't changed since the game launched and even the specific missions that require shuttles haven't changed. I'm not thinking of changing the whole system but an update to the configuration of the standard models so that even at low level you could use a shuttle for missions instead of the Miranda, Brel, T'liss - A bit of a change from the norm.
1.) It might be an interesting business move if there were fighter pets tied to the acquisition of shuttles. It might help cover the production cost of making them if, say, an upgraded variant of the Peregrine also gave you access to squadrons of them for your main ships. It would certainly make lobi shuttles like the Vaadwaur and Ferengi ones more attractive if obtaining them allowed you to then acquire squadrons to fill your hangar bays with.
2.) Re-purpose shuttles(and trade vessels) into a broader sub-class of 'civilian' content. Special zones centered around resource gathering/mining, trade/transport, and small escort craft to protect those industrial vessels from local hostile space-fauna and potential pirate raiders.
This content would scale different from the main starship content loop and open up new stuff like dedicated point-defense weaponry, mining 'weapons', itemized tractor systems, itemized scanners, new consoles to improve cargo capacity(how much special resources you can haul)/reinforcements to reduce potential cargo lost when damaged/improved protection from different types of hazards/etc.

I actually miss Shuttle Fleet Alert. 20 shuttles fighting enemies was fun as all hell.
Let me get my Star Fox on while flying my Aeon timeshuttle.
I found that fun honestly.
I don't agree with buffing them up to be equivelent to T4 BoPs or T3 Escorts. They're small craft. They're supposed to be limited. But that's also kinda the beauty of a shuttle. Getting creative with limited space.
Do you want to augment your weapons? Or do you want to have something clicky to add more abilities?
Imagine a shuttle with the full Cardi console set. A shuttle deploying defense platforms and unleashing a wave of disruptor energy. Or sticking the console from the NX Refit or Avenger on her and basically launching cruise missiles.
What you're describing would be way, way overpowered for shuttles. Essentially equal to a T4 BOP? No.
I could see something more like 3 weapons slots (max), maybe 4 console slots (varying depending on the type of shuttle), and a single BOFF (universal) seat which could be as high as a full Cmdr... MAYBE a second BOFF for larger shuttles like the Danube or Delta.
Don't Danubes already come with 2 BOff seats? I know my Aeon does. Been a while since I ran a runabout.

That said, it's low on my list of wants, and Cryptic doesn't have the spare resources for much low priority development.
