Introduction of the Borg Cooperative

romulanforcesromulanforces Member Posts: 41 Arc User
As an idea for future factions, I would like the Borg Cooperative considered.

1. Start off by selecting a character - choose race - Select from Delta, Alpha, Beta races. Then usual edit appearance, skill specialty.

2. Choose option, whether you are a Starfleet Officer, Romulan Empire Naval or Tal Shiar Officer, Klingon Empire Warrior, a major Delta Quadrant Race, or civilian.

The optional choices will provide a different starting point and opening video leading up to you being attacked and assimilated by the Borg.

3. Once captured by the Borg, you will follow and carry out prompted directions through the assimilation process until you are fully assimilated.

4. Mission One: The cube that you are attached to will proceed to attack a vessel and tractor it into the cube. You will carry out this process then round up the crew and carry out the assimilation process on them.

5. Mission Two: Will involve assimilation of a planetary based race. Same deal as above. These missions will increase your experience.

6. Mission Three: Part 1. You and your tertiary junction are sent on a mission in a Borg Scout Ship. While regenerating en route to a system, you are contacted by 7 of 9 via Uni-matrix 01. She is attempting to sever you from the Collective and have you join the Borg Cooperative in resistance against the Collective. (Idea: The mission graphics could be visualized like in the episode "Mindscape").

Suddenly you find yourself blown out of your alcove as your scout ship is surprise attacked by a de-cloaking ship. Your ship has been critically damaged and crashes onto a nearby moon.

Part 2. Somehow you have survived the crash, although, you are in a critical condition. You now have to quickly scout around your vessel's wreckage for parts to stabilize yourself and regenerate. Once in regeneration mode, you black out.

Part 3. You awaken fully regenerated. You can't hear any voices from the hive in your head. You are alone. You search around for other survivors. There are none. Then, before you, a transporter beam appears. "I am Seven of Nine, I contacted you via Uni=matrix 01. I am here to help you. Do not be afraid". You are then transported to a Cooperative ship that quickly warps out of the system.

7. From this point onward there would be a series of missions ranging from removing Borg prosthesis's and initiation into the Cooperative, expanding to Cooperative missions fighting the Borg to liberate civilians, ship crews, and drones from the Collective. Once you reach a certain level as with the Romulan Republic, you will choose whether to fight along side the Federation or Klingon Empire.

8. Your first integrated mission a Delta Quadrant mission that links up with the Delta Quadrant mission arcs fighting the Vaadwaur.

9. Ship selections will involve acquisition of various Borg vessels as you level up. Crew will initially be increased with a selection of liberated characters including drones. Clothing and uniforms will include a wide selection of Borg tech for head and uniform integration.

10. Reputation: a new Liberated Borg Reputation Points will be created for Cooperative Characters and Characters who have reached Level 65.

So, how's all this sound? I think it is very doable! Comments?

They could exclude Borg vessels from pvp until they have the time. I don't actually play much pvp, so wouldn't really worry me.

This would be a big project, was thinking maybe for release next year anniversary date perhaps??
I did enjoy the Dominion faction, but when compared to what they did for the Romulan Republic, seemed a bit short changed for me.

The Borg Cooperative would be a purchased pack like the others before. I don't see already playable Liberated Borg characters as an issue. They are just customized characters without a background story as to how they were liberated. The Coop Faction would allow players to play as Borg, assimilate enemies, use their nanites promotion skills and with mods, and command a Borg Vessel.

Once non Borg Coop players reach level 65, their liberated Borg Characters could utilise the Liberated Borg Reputation to acquire Borg Mods and sets to enhance their characters. Therefore, if a player didn't want to/ or couldn't purchase the Coop Pack, they could still have an opportunity to enhance their Lib character.

Yeah we're not gonna get anything more then something like hero classes from WoW as far as factions go. I mean dispite all the comments of "Cryptic only does DSC" the AoD faction has the least amount of unique content and only handful of missions at 23c.

Not this again.......(for the hundreth time)

OP, the Co-op DO NOT assimilate!

Your idea makes the LTS Lib Borg redundant and lowers the value of the perk. The ONLY way this idea would work is for Lib Borg characters, because that is essentially what the Co-op are, Liberated Borg. This would increase the value of LTS, of which sorely needs bringing up-to-date.

Also, with the release of the Borg Lockbox, it also serves to nips your idea in the bud. The exo-plating and weapon in the box would have to be made free for use with Borg characters.

There is no further need for development at this time.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Sorry for annoying you for the hundredth time. I did not intend for the Co-op to assimilate. What I was conveying was that while full Borg you can assimilate. Once Co-op, you can utilize your nanites for good instead of evil.

I don't agree with LTS Lib Borg becoming redundant. As I stated, not everyone will want to purchase the Co=op Borg pack. Therefore, you can still use your LTS, and if you're level 65 tap into new Borg equipment via the Co=op Reputations. I have a few LTS Lib Borg and feel that they look the part but are nothing special anyway. So if you have purchased one then there would be opportunity to upgrade it. I got mine with lifetime rewards since I've been playing since STO started. And yes the Borg Lockbox is great as with the Lobi store gear - of which could be increased with gear. I have many characters that I don't play with anymore. They are pretty much redundant. The Dominion pack was a waste of money to me. Therefore, if you want a decent faction, it will be a big undertaking.

There were many players for years asking for a Romulan faction, myself included. We eventually got one. And, although not fully independent, it was well done in my opinion. If a Lib Borg (Co-op) faction was created, it should be done as a big project on the same level at least as the Romulan Republic - unlike the Dominion.

There have been many changes over the years including free promotion give-aways of content that I have previously purchased. It is annoying. But that is how things go unfortunately. And I, as with others in this game will still hope for a Co-op faction as we did for a Romulan one, and as others want various other races.

I do hear what you're saying though. Oh, and with regard to anything that has been posted previously similar to my post over the last 10yrs - I have no intention of wasting my time sifting through all the posts of past just to find them, so that individuals who have the tendency to become highly strung on such issues don't become frustrated and angry over repetitive posts. You do have the option to ignore and not comment if it means your blood pressure may become elevated.

Have a nice day, and "live long and prosper".
