I already knew about the KDF bop update they're working on. Where are you getting the other information from?

Nice. It's good to see KDF is getting some more focus on. I thought it was just ship model updates. Maybe there is even the small chance of player characters getting the hair models of Kurn, Worf, Martok and Grilka.

    I don't suppose we'll get lucky with a Nova?

As for the pack, got the lot already so it's not for me. Would be interesting if they updated the consoles at the same time.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I find it interesting that they remove low tier ships from the C-store, but still put them in a bundle in the C-store. I assume they are the 'old' account wide unlocks?

So $60. I guess 30/25/4/1* values assigned. Doesn't seem like much of a deal like we get from other 'buy 2 get 1 free' ship bundles. Basically you get 1 ship and 2 extra skins for $60. I'd have said $40. Which is real close to their discounted price for the intro.

*Yeah, I don't count the FSM worth much anymore since you can get plenty of free ones from reps. You gonna upgrade the T5 to T5U when you got a full T6 in the bundle? Just feels like a cheap 'value add' that isn't really since, I assume, only 1 character gets it anyway.

There are still ways to buy some lower tier ships through the zen store, just not individually. The FSM of course is so you can get the fleet version of the ship. And while the skins are nice, there are also the consoles. If I didn't already have the full set, I would buy that pack when it came out. Will be interesting to see what other packs they release.

I do think it would be nice to get T6 versions of ships that don't have a T6 though. And not just on the Fed side, the KDF Ning'tao BoP is one of the more interesting, and unique, KDF designs. But it and the Norgh are just T3 ships with no higher tier versions, even though the Ning'tao seems to be the KDF equivalent of the T4 Sao Paulo Defiant variant based on the Quad Cannons they have. The Romulan Quad Cannon ship is the Ar'kala which is T4 with higher tier versions.

I'd imagine for the Feds, Nebula class next as they could probably just re-use the Galaxy skin for it? (No, i'ts not currently an option in the ship tailor). No doubt Prometheus and Ambassador to follow?

KDF will get the B'Rel update soon, any news on a Romulan update - maybe the D'deridex?

Edit: Very pleased to see the QOL improvements coming into the game though.

They are probably going to bring out updates for Romulan ships when they bring out the updated Romulan Faction tutorial, which may be part of the actual content coming from ST: Picard Season 1.

Will also believe the non-fed content or updates when I see it, in game, ready to buy. Not before.

Agreed about seeing something, anything, non-Fed, but at this point it's throw a dog a bone and be happy that's all you'll ever get for months.

A T5-FU Ning-tao exists, but at the cost of 1,000 zen for the T3 Ning'tao, 4 fleet ship modules for the T5F Fleet Norgh Bird-of-Prey Retrofit, an upgrade module, 1 fleet military provision, and an upgrade token.

The resulting ship is a vastly inferior BoP to the 2 other in the C-Store T6/F, or the D4x. As much as I like the Ning'tao skin, and other BoP, I lost hope in them ever making them on par with other end-game ships, and gave up on that old KDF content. To any Feds going "but TierX is perfectly viable, this game is easy..." is both a flawed argument from a number of angles and completely irrelevant to the point being made.

That buy 2 get 1 free went out the window almost two years ago when they started releasing 2-packs for 4,000 Zen almost exclusively. Theoretically, 3 2-packs for 12,000 would get you 6 ships as would 2 of the old 3-pack Cross-faction Ship Bundles. But, before you could also get that 9-pack Ship Bundle for the same 12,000 Zen.

Another difference, these 2-packs would also require a Fleet Ship Module for each ship to bring them up to the Fleet Level Quality of the Ships in the 9-pack.

Yeah, that's true, but now we have access to 12? fleet modules for "free" in the tier 6 reputation, no? so, not that terribl as before..

God!, i love the Ning'Tao, wish they cound release that ship in a T6 bundle with the Tempest, and Romulan and Jemmy equivalents!

60$ for one Ship and two skins that is a very hard pass. Please no one even try to answer with the but the discounts argument. I know the game has allways had a small player base and that they must make continued money but there is a limit. Especialy the one time only bonuses like the fleet modules it can't be that hard to allow update of the ships wihtouth modules if bunde was bought. After all the Zen price also disapears after you bought it once.

    Already own ships ...
There used to be bundles which were cheaper to get if you already owned some of the content ... Will only get this one ( as a ship collector ) if this is taken into account ...

    .

Again, I refuse to get my hopes up. The result of six years of disappointment with regard to this.

They'll do a Nova bundle with a T6 Nova, but the T6 will not be sold separately and because you already own the T2 retrofit you won't be able to buy the bundle. You will have gone from Sisyphus, ever pushing the boulder of the T6 Nova up hill, to Tantalus, your goal visible but always out of reach.

On a completely unrelated idea from what everybody else is saying in this thread, I just wanted to look at this from a "wording" point of view. STO is calling the Akira a ship of the line yet that is incorrect, if you've played games like the old POTCO game or the fan remake TLOPO and even if you look on wiki at the definition of ship of the line you'll see that "ship of the line" refers to massive ships with lots of firepower. Sure escorts have the firepower but they're tiny ships therefore they CANNOT be called ships of the line. Dreadnoughts are ships of the line if anything, maybe cruisers, but certainly not escorts.
  • angrytargangrytarg Member Posts: 11,001 Arc User
The Akira is a cruiser. It's just an escort in gameplay terms. Starfleet doesn't really have so many small ships, even Nova and Intrepid are sorts of cruisers.

mmmm big ol starfleet bundle followed by more starfleet ships, fleety fleet of fleet fleetness fleety fleet?

I won’t buy the pack as I already own the T6 which is the only interesting one really.
However let me just thank Cryptic for the free update.
New model looks nice, new martial looks awesome.

As for the next ship… I would assume they first go with ships canon to the TNG era and Starfleet for which they have the new materials ready from the Legendary ships.
So I guess it will be one of those: Nebula, New-Orleans, Prometheus, Nova, Saber.

I would assume that the aliens come later as they need more work and their own set of materials. But I may be wrong.

Or they could do the Klingon Bird of Prey.

What am I thinking? Only Fed exist in this game........

Salt aside, would be good if they do a similar Bundle for the Klingons and Roms with the BoP and maybe the D'deridex

I think B'rel and Vor'cha are candidates, for rom, T'liss. fed, Excelsior maybe? Daedalus/pasteur maybe.

However, this isn't new, so I'm a little confused by them calling it a new idea. They've already given us a Galaxy and Intrepid bundle. There is a defacto Malem bundle by buying Rom starter packs. I'm not against them bundling ships together like this, but they started this a long time ago, and it offers nothing to someone who already owns these ships.

I think its geared more towards people who don't have it than people who do. On the bright side, EVERYONE gets access to the updated Akira model, and if you already own said ships in this bundle, you can use the updated model.

I'd consider the bundle, if not for the fact the ONLY ship I'm missing is the T5 Armitage. Either I'm locked out of the bundle or would be cheeper to just get the Armitage seperate anyways.
Either way doesn't bother me in the least.

me too I don't have the T-5 version. only reason I got the armitage was to play around with the photon PDS

Temporal Ships do seem like they'd benefit from upgrades, both visual and traits/specs/abilities. It would be an opportunity to improve them and maybe get something out of it(I think they're not the biggest sellers so far). Especially since it looks like Tobias Richter might be doing those textures, and he's a very potent and knowledgeable person on Trek(I gotten to know his work through fan based projects he worked for, e.g. most Project Axanar 3d is his work for instance, remember how detailed and accurate they were?). Though it didn't have a T5 counterpart to my knowledge, Universe class needs both an upgrade and a variant too so that it might actually be worth/usable. I dislike the notion that an Enterprise named ship doesn't live up to its high standards given it was still the flagship(and they wouldn't use any class as the flagship, it has to be top-5 ability of what they have at the time it is made the flagship).
Adm. Necheyev didn't own ANY Starfleet ships. Starfleet did. Also she didn't make one bolt, connect a single wire, gelpack or device, or otherwise helped on making them. I find it presumptuous she claimed it was HER ships. In fact saying as much would probably warranty a reprimand from any of her superiors in Federation and possibly not participating in said actions as other superior personnel do, would in our days(2409 onwards) result in herself facing the same fate as what she has threatened, in that same penal colony.

It would be *brilliant* if Cryptic can update the damage/CD for the Point Defense System Console of the T3 Thunderchild (now part of the Akira Class bundle), for scaling damage to T6 levels!

This console was one of THE most useful ones back in the day, especially useful for starting characters.

Just adapt. It's fun to tailor the playstyle to the circumstances, not the other way around. If the players overall had a say, all ships had the exact same layout, they'd simply be skins slapped on the same ship.

What bothers me is that the update is still not accurate to either the movie or the design references.
Compare the model to movie footage: Where is the torp launcher directly above the deflector as seen in 4:03 of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7KCb-O20Fg ?
Compare it to the design sketches, e.g. on p. 75 of Star Trek - Designing Starships (1), upper left corner: the weapons pod has 7 forward facing launchers, the four ones that the STO model _has_, but what about the lower three?

Furthermore compare it to both the cgi as shown on page 77 and to the movie footage - the glow of the bussard collectors, the deflector dish and the field grille is just not right (too dull and uniform).

Also, what about that ugly greenish front thing (originally a forward facing shuttlebay), why not a bit more detail fitting the footage of 3:59 of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7KCb-O20Fg?

When I heard about an Akira visual overhaul, I expect somewhat more, because I heard that the goal was to make the ships visually more accurate..?

Wow, here is an opportunity to get an Account Unlock on a former T3 C-Store again for only 3,900 Zen. :)

It does make me wonder if this is foreshadowing of more to come for any T1-4 ships that Cryptic exiled from account-wide unlocking. In the land of the blind the one-eyed is King.

It would be nice to see the Prometheus model and ship variants get this sort of treatment. The model looks nice, but it still has some bugs that date back to its addition to the game.

Had it not been for me hoping for sci carrier for the summer event ship, thus making vote for the #1 entry. I would have voted for the #3 entry because it looks like an Akira class.

You know, the Bundle could also have included a T5U Upgrade Token as well. There was a time there when they had C-Store Ship wide sales that all T5s purchased came with that Token.
