We’re launching a brand new type of bundle this week to celebrate some of our favorite ships, called Ships of the Line! There are a lot of ships in the galaxy that have multiple tiers available, and we want to make it easier to get your hands on every version of your favorite starships. First up: The Akira Class! This classic ship appeared in First Contact, which we happen to be celebrating right now, so it seemed like the perfect time to feature it. The Ships of the Line: Akira Bundle will cost 6000 Zen, and will be 35% off from April 23rd at 8am PT to April 30th at 10am PT. It contains the following:

T6 Alita Class Heavy Strike Wing Escort
T5 Armitage Heavy Strike Wing Escort
T3 Thunderchild Heavy Escort Refit
1 Fleet Ship Module

    Free ship update, basically and a new bundle.

    I never cared much for the Alita, it seemed just another escort to me that I would only use while levelling. Until I decided to create a character that specialises in all sorts of energy torpedoes. I thought the Alita would be perfect for him.

    I've really grown to like the ship since. It's a nice design and the various versions allow for a large degree of customisation.

    Anyone want to speculate on what might be next?

    I'm guessing the Nebula, Hestia/Prometheus or the Galaxy. They all have ships in multiple tiers. The Constitution would be too obvious for the same reason ;)

    Or they could do the Klingon Bird of Prey.

    What am I thinking? Only Fed exist in this game........

    Salt aside, would be good if they do a similar Bundle for the Klingons and Roms with the BoP and maybe the D'deridex

    Galaxy Class probably won't get a bundle because I believe one already exists. It just doesn't include the Andromeda. Its got the T4, T5, and Galaxy-X in it. They could update the pack to include the Andromeda and maybe the Yamato, but there's no real reason to make another Galaxy bundle if one already exists.

    If we're looking at tier spread... Nebula and B'Rel may be good potentials. The B'Rel moreso due to recent grapevine talk of a model update.

    It doesn't seem to be a 'legendary' version of the ship which would have made me seriously consider it.

    However, this isn't new, so I'm a little confused by them calling it a new idea. They've already given us a Galaxy and Intrepid bundle. There is a defacto Malem bundle by buying Rom starter packs. I'm not against them bundling ships together like this, but they started this a long time ago, and it offers nothing to someone who already owns these ships.

    I've been debating on which ship to add to my spacedock next: Presidio or Alita This seems like a good time to get the Alita.

    I think its geared more towards people who don't have it than people who do. On the bright side, EVERYONE gets access to the updated Akira model, and if you already own said ships in this bundle, you can use the updated model.

    I'd consider the bundle, if not for the fact the ONLY ship I'm missing is the T5 Armitage. Either I'm locked out of the bundle or would be cheeper to just get the Armitage seperate anyways.
    Either way doesn't bother me in the least.

    It will. Don't forget we do have new players coming in who don't have as many things as us veterans. Just because a vet can't make use of it doesn't mean someone else can't. *shrug*

    As a dedicated small ship captain, it's nice to see an Escort class get some love tbh. Too many fat lady cruisers and dreads around.

    Thank you for the update on the Akira skin she is starship eye candy. Any chance of a T6 Steamrunner/T6 Saber/T6 Nova anytime soon please?

    Didn't Cryptic do a visual update on the Steamrunner a year or a couple of years ago?

    I'm glad to see that Cryptic is slowly revamping all of the canon ship designs. They were so ugly at launch. I hope that they give other ships like the Nova Class and Nebula Class the same love as they've given the Defiant, the Intrepid, the Galaxy, The Excelsior, the Constitution, the Constellation, and now the Akira class.

    I believe the extent was a more canon placement of the Impulse Engines, although release configuration is still an option.

    Nice to see my favorite ship class getting some love; already have all the variants. While the Pilot seat is a pretty rare thing, I do feel the Alita would have been better suited to Command for torpedo synergy(concentrate firepower) and thematic reasons(the Akira was typically shown as a combat support ship as part of a larger flotilla).


    As for future ships of line:
    -Great excuse to make a T6 Nova.
    -Vorcha line would be a great pick for KDF. (They're a lot of fun/powerslidey to fly, very respectable combat performance, and have some pretty nice toys/trait.)

    I saw this on Twitter.

    I'm glad that the cstore revamps and legendary bundle packages, ended up being a good idea to go ahead and do the same thing with other lineages. -- With updates to models and whatever else, too!

    This is progress!

    Given its a scaling t6 you can skin with any of the entire lineage; and you get all consoles. -- Wouldn't it be better to just do it that way and drop 1000 -1500z standard?

    Whatever the case. Its a great lineage to begin doing this. I intend to buy it.

    Also, i would love that they update the other Cryptic designed variants... they really look outdated when you mix and match...

    I'd imagine for the Feds, Nebula class next as they could probably just re-use the Galaxy skin for it? (No, i'ts not currently an option in the ship tailor). No doubt Prometheus and Ambassador to follow?

    KDF will get the B'Rel update soon, any news on a Romulan update - maybe the D'deridex?

    Edit: Very pleased to see the QOL improvements coming into the game though.

    I find it interesting that they remove low tier ships from the C-store, but still put them in a bundle in the C-store. I assume they are the 'old' account wide unlocks?

    So $60. I guess 30/25/4/1* values assigned. Doesn't seem like much of a deal like we get from other 'buy 2 get 1 free' ship bundles. Basically you get 1 ship and 2 extra skins for $60. I'd have said $40. Which is real close to their discounted price for the intro.

    *Yeah, I don't count the FSM worth much anymore since you can get plenty of free ones from reps. You gonna upgrade the T5 to T5U when you got a full T6 in the bundle? Just feels like a cheap 'value add' that isn't really since, I assume, only 1 character gets it anyway.

    I really liked the visual of the super torpedo spread. Sadly it didn't do as much damage as it looked like it should have. :(

    That buy 2 get 1 free went out the window almost two years ago when they started releasing 2-packs for 4,000 Zen almost exclusively. Theoretically, 3 2-packs for 12,000 would get you 6 ships as would 2 of the old 3-pack Cross-faction Ship Bundles. But, before you could also get that 9-pack Ship Bundle for the same 12,000 Zen.

    Another difference, these 2-packs would also require a Fleet Ship Module for each ship to bring them up to the Fleet Level Quality of the Ships in the 9-pack.
