I have been going through the Delta Quadrant series of missions and I have found that the Vaadwaur ships are Overpowered. Like I can't even get a hit without my ship being destroyed in 5 seconds. I checked the hull of the NPC ship and it was just over 200k while my hull is 50k. There is no way I am able to destroy this thing. The mission in particular is Alliances. I'm not sure if it is a bug but in the previous missions I have found it to be easy to destroy any enemy ships. I don't see how I can go from being OK to under leveled that quickly.

First of all is that that their weapons are polaron based.
Second is that they love their tricobolt mines.
Beware of their bombardments (keep moving) and stay >5Km to allow yourself time against multiple trico mines.
Would you mind posting your build here:
https://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/
That way we can look and see if your build can be improved.
@baddmoonrizin this topic is probably better suited in the academy.
Previously similar topics about vaadwaur, krenim, Romulans or Disco Klingons turned out to be the result of flaws in the build of the ship/boff layout etc.
That's why i asked for your build.
Usually there are plenty of folks who want to help others who struggle with the game. Everyone has a point in the game where they find out that the difficulty has caught up.
For me at one time it was a dreadful Romulan warbird behind a planetary shield with tractor beams and torpedo spreads of doom. We listen, learn and progress is made.
My strategy for when they do this, is to hit Evasive Manoeuvres, pick a direction and get away from those X's as fast as possible. Then, I can return to the fight.
There's only one (?) type of ship that fires those X's, though, so hunt it down and destroy it/them, and the rest become much easier.

That said good thing about bad builds is that it's generally an easy fix and there's plenty of players willing to help with it.
Also you don't need a meta build just one that's "good enough". Most of my builds are far from optimal or meta but they work.

Using your build in skillplanner i have made a basic layout with gear which should be available for you at this time
https://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/ccd90e15a1165014172660dfe646301d
Note that if you want to follow the storyline and improve your build then you can find which episodes to replay for gear
https://sto.gamepedia.com/Episode_replay
The solonae 3-piece will probably be a pain to get together since flying the awkward dyson ship makes that mission one of the more undesirable missions to replay.
Once you've progressed through the storyline and into the iconian war there are some items which are highly recommended and should give you time to develop your own builds
Sol defense set 3-piece. Mission reward set with good defense which should keep you alive while you move through the reputations
https://sto.gamepedia.com/Desperate_Defenses#Sol_Defense_Deflector_Array
A bit of speed and maneuver for the galaxy
https://sto.gamepedia.com/Console_-_Engineering_-_Polaric_Modulator
This build has a LOT more defense in it than normally required, but that is intentional because with the survival you get the chance to try different tactics and some different consoles.
Edit:
Eventually before switching to reputation or fleet gear the mission reward build should end up roughly like this
https://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/0c561a0cf554ac36938d6ea32bf6da3a
A few set bonuses, a reduction in boff powers and sufficient survival until you can upgrade to more custom builds.
We're suckers for success stories and if things are still difficult perhaps we can speed up your progress.
Edit: Here is the link to my current build: https://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/503fa2045bd0c6caa1eb49db274734bd
Looks like a build which can get you through the content while you go through the reputations and slowly try different things to see what suits your play style best.
That's super nice of darkbladejk and others to help get you up and running 👍
