Best Patrols for leveling Mastery quickly

Has anyone done a parse on which patrols level ships the quickest or are they all generally the same?

The Ninth Rule patrol is great for ship leveling. I have managed to max out a ship in one run before, you should at least get the first 4 levels.

The key is the end wave, they just pour in for a set amount of time, so the faster you can take them out, the more XP you can get. Worst case scenario is I do Ninth Rule once and then something like Argala Patrol one time just to finish it off.

How about Japori? I usually get some decent exp there as well.

Japori just isn't in the same league as the Ninth Rule. I agree with @seaofsorrows that leveling your ship or likely getting experience/expertise in general is probably best done there.

Ninth rule is highly build dependent, unfortunately. If you have a lot of good AOE DPS, especially if your build uses a grav well to keep them close together, it can work well. If not, then it can be rough.

Ninth rule is also dependent on which enemies you get. Hirogen or Breen for the final waves and they may seriously mess with your DPS potential with their subnucleonic beams wiping out your buffs. Some builds may also have a lot of trouble with Fek'ihri. Orions or Nausicans, however, are basically free XP.

Argala is always very reliable, regardless of DPS, but doesn't approach Ninth Rule in potential.

If you still need another patrol after that, I tend to do the new satellite one with Stamets and the Elachi, whichever system that one is. The satellites can eat into your XP, though, as they do hit hard against the Elachi.

For a fourth choice, I can't remember what it is called but the one where you are escorting people to a space station with Voth allies.

    That one is Tempting Targets.

You can even launch any of the new patrols from the patrols tab in the PvE window. This is good, especially if you don't want to leave the space you're in. You'll return to where you launched from.
Now a LTS and loving it.

It is true, but many of the other patrols have you definitely face DSC era Klingons, and they use Viral Impulse Burst, and even with an engineering team ready, this will always TRIBBLE up your strategy somewhat. (Though with a potent Gravity Well, not that much, since the well will keep sucking things in and dealing kinetic damage while you travel back.)

In the Elachi/Satellite one you have to fly around a lot, which can cut in your time.

    Japori is always reliable though.

Ninth Rule is perfectly fine for standard Energy Builds. FAW or Scatter Volley takes care of the mobs just fine.

I use it for leveling all my builds, you don't need anything special except the ability to kill things fairly quickly. The quicker you kill, the more XP you get.

I ran Ninth Rule a couple weeks ago when I got my D7. Standard Cannon DPS build, got all 4 tiers and the trait in one run.

    Easy peasy.

Question about The Ninth Rule, after seeing this thread I've been running it a lot for traits recently, but twice in the last week I've had Madran fail to spawn when I get the objective to engage my tractor beam. Does anyone know what causes this?

I've never seen that. He should have spawned already after the first two fights and be sitting there with his broken ship for the third round of fighting.

Hmm, in that case on my two bugged runs he either didn't spawn at all after the first two groups, or he despawned while I was fighting the third group (I only noticed his absence when I went to use the tractor beam). It's only happened twice, both times the green circle was on the minimap but his ship wasn't there.

Edit: third possibility, could warp core breaches from the enemy ships be destroying his ship? I wouldn't think that would be possible in a Cryptic-made map, it was a common issue in the foundry but the tools the Devs use allow them to set minimum HP to 1.

I can't imagine why or how he would despawn. What abilities do you use?

Mostly just FaW and BO with KLW, one of my characters uses GW as well but I don't think it's happened on that one. Idk if it matters, but I think the first time it happened I was flying a Romulan Pilot Warbird, and the second time I was definitely flying the new Legendary Defiant, but I don't see how pilot maneuvers could affect an NPC.

That is weird, I don't know. I thought maybe scramble sensors or some other confuse could have gotten enemies to blow up Madran. I don't think any of the enemies can use a confuse on you. The only other thing I can think of is maybe too many ships blowing up on top of him, but that is hard to do unless your DPS is really low to let them wander around.

I don't know if he is actually invulnerable, which he should be, but might not be.

No idea if it's the best one, but Sentinels has helped me to get multiple tiers of mastery for one ship in a single run.

I have run this Patrol more times then I can count and have never seen that happen.

    Sorry, I'm at a loss.

I've only seen it happen on my KDF characters(there's usually a quick error message that appears after defeating the second wave). I presume one of the encounter groups doesn't doesn't track properly because of factional spaghetti code.

did you end up inside the green circle surrounding where his ship SHOULD appear during either of the first two waves? because he won't spawn if you are inside that area when it shows up - you have to leave and re-enter it for the trigger to fire properly

alternatively, listening to stamets' nattering is also a requirement for triggers firing - in ANY of the beta patrols (i.e. X'ing out of his dialogue window instead of acknowledging it will prevent the stages from progressing)

I'm not sure where I was when the circle appeared, but both times I tried flying all the way to the disabled galaxy class and back and couldn't get him to appear. I also always mash 'F' to skip through dialogs so that shouldn't have been the issue either.
