Question regarding missing/removed episode missions

sveargithcaexsveargithcaex Member Posts: 4 Arc User
So this is in regards to an old post, this one but I can't find a suitable answer anywhere about this that pertains to this specific update. In the notes it is stated that some missions have been taken down to be worked up and streamlined, most of which are on the 'Klingon Front' episode list that include going back in time to stop B'vat and to do with the Ku'vah'mag. It has been 2 years since this post and I want to know if they are still being worked on or have actually been dropped, having not heard anything about it and all I'm able to find is 'They are being worked on' posts from 2 years ago.

I hope they have not been dropped as those were the best missions in the original episodes and that they will be back soon. If anyone is able to tell me whats happened with them or their current status I'd appreciate it :)

Looking at what they did with the new episodes, I'd say their 'in the pipeline' still.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Probably got pushed back due to all the Disco stuff, since that's winding down I'd expect them to start getting back to their previous plans now.

They are going to 'Reimagine' them into Featured TFOs instead. Episodes are so 2409. :)

I mean .... TWO YEARS .... and no acknowledgement which forces the forum to speculate on those being back-burnered or sidelined for Discovery content that frankly I could have done without anyway? Time for some schmo with Cryptic to at least weigh in on the matter!

It's not really speculation, they were open about the fact that they had post-ViL plans that were delayed when CBS gave them the option to develop a Disco story with voice work from several of the cast members.

To be honest such an opportunity is the kind of thing you would want to drop everything for. I mean they got Jason Isaacs!

I too would love an update on these episodes. The Klingon War chain is now a truncated shell, it feels like The Klingon Skirmish, and I don't see why I should care about anything that happens without a "boss".

More importantly, these episodes were updated with new VO of the DS9 characters mere weeks before they were pulled.

When "The 2800" got voiceovers from Garak, the female founder and Weyoun I thought they would be the first to get revamped. It would have made sense given the Victory is Life expansion. Unfortunately it never happened and with Discovery and Picard being the new "hot stuff", I doubt it ever will.

I feel the same thing is true about the lost Klingon war arc. They might get around revamping and streamlining episodes one day, but as long as the new shows give them enough new material to cover, it's unlikely to happen.

Actually the missions from the Klingon War Arc have been delayed because they were working on the Anniversary content. As soon as all that is done, they will get back to that project.

They said that when they ignored it for Discovery content, too. Considering it's been over a year and a half since the Klingon War Arc's 'pulled for revamp'ing (that is to say, 15% of the game's lifetime now), you'll excuse me if I have my doubts that they'll ever actually get worked on.
Which is really too bad, as they were some of my favourite episodes in the game, and feature some of the last work from Leonard Nimoy as Spock.

Its probably been put aside for this long because there's only so much time that the devs have to work on things. They're not a hundred man team.

And we are still in the anniversary, so there is still plenty of time. They did not ignore it, they put it on the backburner and prioritized 10th anniversary content for now.

And Picard will be the next reason.

It should come as no surprise that Cryptic prefers making new content over rewamping old missions, that it shouldn't be taken as "there's no work done to them at all they just don't want to admit it" but rather that any work done to those missions is done when there's time and recently there hasn't been all that much time for secondary goals.

We got to remember that Cryptic devs are humans with lives outside of work, not synths developing the game 24/7 without pauses.

while new content is of course welcome we should not forget that its the old content that new players tend to see first and as veteran players we want the newer players to get a good experience from early play being able to proceed through the story and enjoy it as we have done so its important to have some of those earlier arcs back and more visable to the newer generation of players since some of those arcs tie into alot of the later arcs.

Don't forget the new Executive Producer said he was not satisfied with the quality of the older Missions and wanted them brought up to current standards. Well...

I was lucky that I got to play the original Klingon Front and having a bunch of fun with the time travel mission and seeing the Ku'vah'mag (trying not to spoil even if it is old content xD) it was one of things that made it great and having it cut from that just makes that part come off as rushed so you can get to the newer content faster. That might not be the intent but in its current state it just sorta...ends.

Originally, the dev who was working on those missions went on leave after having had a baby, which delayed things. The production schedule since then apparently hasn't yielded time to return to those missions.

Unfortunately some of ones that were revamped were/are also bugged to the point of being unplayable. Some have been bugged and unplayable for months like Temporal Reckoning.

This is still a thing? Geez, still missing missions depending on whatever level or faction toon?

Well, I like the older missions. I don't like the newer stuff. They are gonna revamp all the personality outta this game.

They should return those missions untill they are finished with the revamping. so that the story isn't screwed up. they shouldn't have taken them away untill they got the revamping done.
