Borg feedback for devs

sentry51sentry51 Member Posts: 39 Arc User
I wanted to say I am having so much fun with the new Borg items. I have the armor and weapons from the lobi store, along with all the kit modules. Going to be a long time before I can get the ship.

Assimilating things in space and on the ground is something I never knew I needed. I wanted to let the devs know what a great job they did with this.

I am wondering one thing. I can assimilate a Borg ship, but I can't assimilate drones? We've seen drones being reassimilated into the collective or having a small collective created as in the Voyager episode "Survival Instinct".

I would really like the option to assimilate drones in ground missions; even if it's a compromise like only being able to assimilate the infected ones, instead of the full on drones.

Thanks to the Borg Lockbox, you do have this option.

If you get yourself the Kit Module - Universal - Assimilate you can trigger a DOT effect that will last for approx 20 sec. If a ground enemy dies with this DOT active, they will become a friendly ground combat pet for approx 2 min and then vanish.

It's really handy for characters like engineers and science toons that don't get access to the Security Escort ability.

I do have that module, but assimilate does not work on Borg drones. That was what I was asking them to change.

Why use the Juggernaut to assimilate npc ships, if the other players in the team can destroy them after we turn them? Just did a starbase one run, turned 3 ships, other player blows them up.

I didn't realize other players could target your assimilated ship. They definitely need to change that.

The Augment Boarding Party Boff Skill (Kelvin Divergence Lockbox) lets you get single use Admiralty Cards out of 'capured' ships. More useful than something that can get wasted by your own Team.

The Jugg's console doesn't Assimilate, merely confusesdisables the enemies (sometimes weapons, which makes them follow you around briefly) So, you want the console directly from the lockbox instead of the one on that if you want to keep them for about 2 minutes, and they can't be attacked by allies.

I must admit, Im really loving the new borg items too. Although I dont agree with the LTS lib borg / Lockbox route they took. I am feeling like the actual liberated borg is complete with these items, such as the mods, kits etc. Just feels right and fun. That is what is important to me.

It kinda got me thinking, its a shame there isnt a huge borg cube we can use to have as a social area for lib borg and friends. If we cant have a cube as a playable ship can we compremise with that? With vendors to buy borg frames/mods/the new armour from. Id personally love an alcove to regenerate in which logs you out. Consoles where you can craft a borg drone pet to follow you round (humanoid / animal), play mini games to 'assimilate' information to earn currency (like dabo) to get new borg costume unlocks and so on. The potential is endless!

I know there are concerns with it becoming a captains table where no one uses it, but to be fair I think its because no one actually knew what to do with it, at least with a liberated cube you have the above options and at least bring up to speed LTS liberated borg with players who got lobi, borg mods into their own social area. Id be happy to loose this area to get this.

Or even as your own social space, where you can customize it how you want? trophies, drones and collectables. Maybe even add a few Romulans? ;) wonder what they are up too? lol

to counter point, talaxians could have their own social area too some kind of floatilla or asteriod, every item of food in the game is there, tribbles, (why cant we craft food in this game?) I never understood that. Just because replicators exist didnt stop anyone cooking.

    Anyway Borg,
Its been a while since we had a new reputation and Id love to see more borg tech in the game etc I think under the borg reputation the assimilated shield etc could move into it since I never understood why it was there (since why fight borg then go all out to look like them?) It deserves its own Rep so I hope a liberated borg reputation comes soon. Also LTS borg really need a texture update just looks so blocky and low res now compared to newer things. Now is the perfect time to bring it all up to date!

I do not want another reputation. If anything I would like for those players to have more Borg tech in the Task Force Omega Reputation and not just from the Borg Lockbox.

I kinda agree with you, but I don't think that's going to end. What Id suggest to counter the tedium is simply with older reps they are unlocked for free to t5 with no time gates and the only thing you have to grind for is the gear. I think we are at 13 reps now, so yeah they need to look at taking the sting out of it as its a lot of work to get new characters up to speed.

or just...make reps account-wide like they were rumbling about last year, so we only have to do this FLUFF once - i wouldn't even care overly much if they pushed it out as far as 90 or even 180 days (okay, i would probably care about this one) in exchange...but honestly, i don't see them doing that because they'll already be taking something major away by making reps account-wide, and that's the ability to claim the T5 rewards per character

they already did it with events - if/when account reps come around, they'll do it there too

    hi two question...
one: the borg suite in lobi store is not applicable at BOF..is your decision or is only a bug and in future u correct this bug??
Two:it was so complicated, to make a BORG-style bridge for the Borg vessel? maybe you could put it in the lobi store or a little pack in the zen store..or or or ... why a trivial bridge, similar to those supplied to any other ship ??

    thanks for answer

Wait they didn't even use the Tal Shiar Adapted bridge for the juggernaut? Jesus, there was already a mostly-Borg-themed bridge in the game and they didn't even use it?!

    1) There was a tweet that said that the Borg Suit is being fixed so that it can be used on BOffs.

    2) The Borg do not use bridges. They connect directly to the ship and fly it collectively.

They did not use it, no. The Juggernaut also does not use the Adapted Consoles to make a Set, nor does it come with the Borg Warp Core.

Some good comments. After playing some more, I will say I am still loving it. Playing as a drone has made ground combat fun for me again. There is nothing better than assimilating groups of enemies and watching them slaughter their buddies.

    A few suggestions:

    1) I still want to be able to assimilate Borg drones
    2) Please animate the lights on the Borg armor/costume like the arm attachment has. I put that in the suggestion forum too, but it never gets read
    3) Make the assimilated ships scale in power based on what you assimilate. I noticed they all go to 37k armor, no matter what you assimilate; also please make them stay a couple kilometers away when following you.
    4) I know the devs are making the Borg outfit unlockable for the boffs (thank you) Please also make the arm weapon available for them as well.
  • legendarylycan#5411 legendarylycan Member Posts: 37,266 Arc User
you won't ever be able to assimilate borg - that was a deliberate omission from the enemies the power can affect, along with undine (for obvious reasons) and non-humanoid enemies (so no tholians and probably tzenkethi too)

They need to slightly change what kind of ships can be assimilated.

Seeing a Citadel dreadnought follow a player is just plain ridiculous.

    This is getting ridiculous.

Well there is also a full interior available from that one Romulan mission - and that wasn't used either on any of the assimilated/liberated ships.

The mere fact that interiors or rooms are available has never seemed to be much of an argument for them to tie those maps to ships in the past.

Not sure what kind of mental gymnastics one would have to make to justify this kind of logic.

You go from being a drone, to being free and liberated, to then turn around and enslave and control others. So you fought to be free to become a new queen that enslaves others that also don't want to be enslaved?

Just makes no sense. If it was an issue for you to be enslaved so you were liberated why would you then voluntarily want to then enslave others to do your bidding which was originally to be free of being enslaved?

I would have to assume liberated borgs would utterly detest the power to assimilate to the point of revoltion and violence and justifiably so.

Unfortunately, the "I suffered before being free, therefore, you must suffer too" mentality still exists even today, even more so in the real world, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some Liberated Borg do this.

I guess, but it just makes no since.

I mean i get the whole bullied becoming the bully part.

But would such a mentality work with a thing called a liberated borg? A sentient machine? That also works in a large community? It's not a hive but a community, and this idea alone sems like a rogue idea and would be hard extremely hard to hide from your brethren.

Would make a very strange cocktail party.

The very idea of assimilating itself is would seem antagonistic to the very core of a liberated borg. I mean can you be a liberated borg if you assimilate? Would a federation captain that stumbled upon such a situation consider the aggressor, the assimilator, liberated and not borg? I just don't see how they don't catch a phaser to the face.

I mean if i came across such a scenario I don't see how i wouldn't detain or destroy the liberated borg.

Thank you devs for new borg items, really enjoy the kits, weapon and armor, can't seem to get borg ship tho - no luck :(. Can't wait till I used the outfit for my boff. Just asking if you can add that borg exoskeleton suit that you can breath in space and land on Tholian world (maybe add a helmet to suit). Can you also add Seven of Nine hand device to suit option and those borg hologram - armor items, new borg gloves please. Please I asked if you can make the Borg Vanity Shield for all ships, found out the hard way when I bough it. Keep up great work, enjoy the Borg faction and Happy 10th Anniversary!

PS: Will we be getting a 10th Anniversary logo in your collection?
