OK, not sure if this was asked but this question is burning up inside me.

I want to know if I have this right, I happen to love using the Defiant and it has gone like this for me. First I get the T3 version, but then they release a refit that I have to buy. Then we have the T5 version, which the goes to the retrofit and the Fleet version, this was good for a few years. Then we get the T6 versions and of course the Fleet version of that ship .....

So now I have to buy a new T6 version of the Defiant? ... and probably need to get the updated Fleet version.

I don't know about anyone else but re-releasing a ship that people have already purchased is really problematic for me. Don't get me wrong, I love this game and I've been playing this game since Beta, and have also been a LTS since then but having me re-buy ships that I have already purchased it really low. I'll probably wind up getting it in the future but I just can not afford to buy a pack for 20 new skins .....

    Just my 2¢....

If you already have the other variants then only need to purchase the new version if you want the new skins and full pilot spec+maneuvers (and I believe the Legendary ships are already at fleet level). If you don't have any of the other variants then purchasing this one will give you ALL of the consoles in one single purchase.

As an individual buy I'd love to be able to pick up a new set of skins for a favorite ship. Ex. Sovy. I enjoy my existing T6 variant but having a few new options and a new take on the platform would be very gratifying. For the full bundle: no. Not every ship carries the same level of significance and while I'd love to be able to reconnect with some of my favorites I'm not prepared to spend what Cryptic's apparently asking to do so (with Thomas's comments and no other clarification.)

I had $20 or so slated for individual c-store buys this anniversary (in addition to zen savings) but there's a real possibility that Cryptic might say "no, we don't want you participating in this part of the love letter. Unlike previous years, we only want those who can pony up to the highest level."

This as the 10th anniversary. What the hell?

(To be clear, the last bit's not directed at you, but on the topic of rebuying ships a more open approach allows more circumstances where it works out well.)

What would have made more sense in the Premium Pack to justify 15,000 Zen uplift is:

10x Epic Universal Upgrades rather than the 'Enhanced".
30 Keys like the Legacy of Romulus Pack.
    20 R&D Promotion Packs
    100,000 Refined Dilitium
    200 Lobi
    20 Phoenix Packs
    1 Epic Token

The flaw in the reasoning is thinking you "have to" buy anything. You don't. You may WANT to, but that is a completely different issue. Honestly, it's a lot like a new version of your phone coming out that performs a little better. You are under no obligation to get it, nor do you actually need it. It's called "self control".

See now this makes sense. I still probably wouldn't buy it for the increased price but atleast I would be able to understand the extra 150 dollars. As it stands now there is no reason to purchase the premium pack, everything in it would be cheaper to just buy yourself

Too bad my favorite ship the Prometheus isn't a hero ship so that won't receive a new version.

So what is the new mission? Was it that: "To Hell With Honor" TFO or is it yet to come maybe? Thinking & looking back though I amend my original statement as there has been small additions of playable content, but unless this anniversary mission has been released already you're predicting the future & being disingenuous about the current to be nitpicky.

The new mission hasn't been announced yet, but it soon will be.

Just read the patch notes. You're correct about the new mission(s) 2-parter as it is. I like how it states after the part 1 you can immediately begin part 2 without leaving, intriguing.

So...will the ships be available individually?

This is really the only question that I (and I suspect I'm not alone) am interested in the answer to at this point.

The fact that it's been repeatedly asked across multiple platforms without having been answered suggests to me that the answer is probably not what I'm hoping for.

Actually, the pilot defiant is a 5/3 weapon vs the 4/3+experimental of the normal one...so...yeah that is a big difference right there. Which is why I asked about individual ships...cuz I want that as the defiant is pretty much the only fed ship I like.

Yeah, the 5/3 Defiant is a huge upgrade. I know a lot of people will be interested in that so hopefully the ship is available 'stand alone.'

For me, I am not terribly interested in anything they have coming up ship wise.. I have all the ships I really want. I do however, hope they're able to sell these and make money for the game. I honestly think it will be far more profitable for them if they also sell ships individually. Many players aren't going to pay $300+ for a bundle and would rather buy ships individually.

I have most of the ships in the bundle. The bundle effectively then is a bunch of new skins. I fail to see any attraction in this bundle. Im a real self confessed STO fan but even I cant get very excited about this. Whats the difference between legendary and existing zen versions. A few stats and a skin? or am I missing something??

An extra console, better hull and shields than the Tier 6, different Bridge Officer layout, a new skin, and a new starship trait. So they are essentially 10 Tier 6 Fleet ships with all the skins and consoles from previous versions of the ship. This bundle is not for people that have most of the ships, but for those that have none or a few of the ships.

If they sold 100 ships for $1000, that would be great. I mean, come on what a deal. It’s only $1000!

Yeah, it happened: I lost track. :o

So far, this has been a rather unusual start towards the Anniversary. I see no sales of any kind announced. I *think* the Picard lock box is supposed to be released today, and rumors of 43,000+ Zen multi-packs in March? All pretty vague so, far. I mean, are we even sure Anniversary starts today?! LOL.

Oh yeah, and I saw the Priority One vid of the new TFO. Is that going to be happening today too?

Anniversary starts in a few hours, Cryptic. If there was ever to be more announced about it, *this* would be the time to do so.

are we likely to see anything like this for the klingons and romulans???
  • jcswwjcsww Member Posts: 6,455 Arc User
When it comes to lock and promo box ships offered in these types of bundles, the price would seem a little more reasonable, at least to me, if this was an alternative to the R&D Promo and Master Keys to open boxes. Whether we get any lock box ships in these bundles though is yet to be seen. Personally, I would be very tempted for a TOS Connie, Universe class, Ambassador, and TOS KDF and Romulan D7's.

Well, based on what I've read already, I definitely don't think this bundle is aimed at me. Given that I'm not really a fan of the "standard" Starfleet design, I don't really like the saucer, neck, hull and nacelles on pylons look, I always preferred the Miranda over the Constitution, the Nebula over the Galaxy etc.

However, if Cryptic wants to throw in a curve ball and surprise me by making my favourite ships (the Akira and the Luna) something different, hopefully light cruisers, then I'll definitely get behind that 😁

Probably not. Us KDF mains get to sit this one out unless you feel like dropping 300 bucks on traits.

For me the problem is not value per ship but overall price. I get it, that there are 10 reworked ships + consoles. But it is 20000-30000 ZEN for Q sake! If this ships were sold as single for let's say 3000-4500 ZEN I would consider to buy one, maybe later second. But not all of them for $300.
  • kronin#4685 kronin Member Posts: 325 Arc User
The asking price is way too high. Period. For me, that is the end of the discussion. I don't care if it's a good value. It's out of my price range. For that price, I could buy a library of games on Steam. So, if the ships become available individually or in smaller packs (and once we know what the ships even are), then I will offer my opinion on the ships and such.

It's like how you can get a burger for $1 at Mcdonalds.

Not to derail the thread, but all the McDonald's in my area got rid of the dollar burgers YEARS ago, I believe the cheapest is around $2 now, and even the McChicken is at least $1.50. I completely agree with your points regarding the bundle though B)

In my country, it's $10, more or less, same for a coffee. So yeah, its quite expensive... i just hope the pack is available for a long time, because it will take long to get some savings! (i'm also getting savings for an apparment, housing is also expensive here)

There is significant time, but will be direct, that so far it feels it will be a somewhat worse anniversary compared to older ones, not better. There is time to change that if we see more things revealed and the episodes can save it too but they did at least start slow and generally it is a mixed bag so far:

-Anniversary ship is fairly good but worse than most of past ones
-New TFO looks it will be fun
    -Omega event is downgraded
-Giveaways are nice but slightly worse than other times - lets see if it will have a ship - since ongoing reserving judgement
-Story, reserving judgement, I expect it to be better but not as much as it was hyped as Geko made me believe we will have 4-5 episodes arc
-Anniversary pack apart from being hard to obtain, not due to the value, but due to the high investment upfront is totally one sided(if you see leaks around and aready announced ships we only dont know two ships left) it does make feel anyone who doesnt main a Federation toon and likes to fly classic Federation ships as unwanted. You will see a lot of "Does cryptic want me to play their game anymore?" around the players who do not main a Federation toon.
-Sales during anniversary so far hadnt been significant
-Borgbox and its ship and other contents seem to be good, if not a bit OP for some contents

Does it make it a bad anniversary? no, you get your hands on a lot of freebies so everyone gets at least something free(most games give nothing or close to nothing on their anniversaries so cryptic generally is generous) and by default that is positive but it feels worse than past ones which isnt fit to a milestone like a 10th anniversary is

Forced to agree. Whilst I'll concede the Dev/Communications team are likely very busy its still disappointing that we haven't had a proper infodump. I mean, it may come later today I guess, but still.....

I doubt we would see them drop from the 5/3 loadout

The only reason I think it's a possibility is it would keep the existing TOS Connie desirable. But if their goal is truly just to give fans what they want then your right, they probably won't change that.

As a KDF main, you summed up how i've felt about this pretty nicely. I get to spend 200 bucks on traits! I'm just dripping with excitement over that.

My gripe with this free ship is the fact that it is a "Command" ship. I was hoping for a box that when opened, will offer between Intel, command, and miracle worker.

Its only 30k worth of zen on paper, the value diminishes significantly if one or more ships are only for the trait or console or simply never flown.

Anniversary begins today (has begun by now) so it does seem like no freebie store ship, which ties into the giveaways being reduced by a couple of days.

The mission is usually getting teased earlier than the day it begins, hopefully it'll be better than walking geordi through the new galaxy interior hoping he decides not to glitch into a doorjam and force a reset before you fight stripper kurland.

Likewise this bundle of "epic" still only has two ships unveiled on the news section and it's landing today. 10 ships makes it a very obvious "hype" builder for 10days prior unveiling one each day instead of unveil 2 because you forgot and kick the rest out the airlock seconds sometime after it goes live.
