What if they said the holoemitters were on the outside now? Make it a playable ship that has the ability to turn into other ships, a bit like the Romulan drone. I have no idea how that would work but it might be interesting to play.
It would be ironic if it was a twist on the Galaxy-class ship, with civilians onboard who have no idea that they are actually on a ship in a holographic simulation. Meanwhile, just like the Enterprise-D, they are endangered every time you and your crew go into combat.....

That's a bit too close to the USS Incursion from Star Trek Away Team and Star Trek Armada II. Holocloak tech was explored in Away Team, and there was fallout from it in Starfleet Command III when the Romulans used it to destroy Unity 1 and cause tension between the Federation and Klingon Empire.
Based on the size of the Holoship she'd probably end up being considered an escort if they go the combat route, which would be way too close to the Incursion, which was a ship created by another company, which falls under legal protection. Yea we have the Drone ship that does something similar, but that was actually canon seen on screen.
I don't think we'll see Incursion tech outside of the holoemitters we already have in game.

The only other thing I can think of to make it unique is to let you pick from any ground map in the game to use as your bridge. If it's just another escort then there's no point in it being the holoship.
much less freighters that were obsoleted with ViL's holo-trader device.
The holo-trader is just a ground version of the Azura.
"Just?"
It means there you can now use bank/exchange/mail on all bridges (or any other ground map), therefore no point having a special ship with those built in.
Comments
b: it was basically a mobile holodeck with no shields or weapons.
this means it'd be more likely to get the freighter treatment than a regular ship release.
My character Tsin'xing

Cool but idea .

I seriously doubt they intend to ever release anything under T6 again, much less freighters that were obsoleted with ViL's holo-trader device.
