All of these changes appear interesting (and make me wonder if they're also going to be updating the various Borg models in the process); hopefully the devs have realized that timegates are one of those 'extra hoops' players despise and will keep that in mind for future content and revision of previous events (consider for example this proposal for Mirror Invasion).

As for the cyclic modulation ground weaponry... that's an interesting concept, but I would recommend moving the 'cycle' action to a special button (see: EV suits; Terran guerilla armor) instead of having it replace the melee strike. Also, the longarm model isn't bad at all... such a shame that weapon skinning doesn't exist in the game; I would at this juncture again put forward this proposal on its implementation.

Glad to see this. The Borg were pathetic after all these years of power creep; not the unstoppable techno-nightmares they're supposed to be. [Stops rant about how Voyager made Borg stupidly stupid.] Any updates Cryptic does *should* be welcome.

    Legacy Progress

Veteran players that have participated in previous Featured TFOs may still be in possession of multiple “Featured TFO Commendation” items, which are no longer used in the new Event System. In an effort to maintain the value and investment attached to these legacy items, we will be taking the following actions:

Logging in as any character that possesses one or more Featured TFO Commendation will trigger an automatic conversion which will remove the Commendations and grant your account an equivalent amount of “Legacy Event Progress.”
Players will want to log in each of their characters, in order to apply all of their existing Commendations to this new Account-Wide pool.

Each upcoming eligible event (typically only Featured TFO Events) will have an option to Apply Legacy Progress to the requirements present, allowing you to ‘cash in’ your already-earned (and/or already-purchased) progress, toward these new Events as they become active.

So, this isn't specifically about the Borg event, but it's in the same blog post.
I'd like some clarification on what this means.

When you log in with a character that has the legacy tokens, are they automatically applied to the current event? Or do they go into a pool (say, like marks), from which I can choose to apply a variable amount of my choosing from that pool to whatever the current event is (including future events)?

What about the costume pieces that were once unlocked via the Elite variants, in regards to accolades.

What about the extra costume unlock pieces that could only be obtained via the accolade achievements on Elite - nothing was ever addressed.

"Participating in this Event will give all players the opportunity to win a set of Cyclical Modulation Ground Weaponry (Pistol, Rifle, Assault) for their entire account!"

Grinding it out for 14 days is only a win if you happen to be doing something like the giro d'italia.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. Every time you log on to a character with Featured TFO Commendations, all of the commendations on that character will be converted to Legacy Event Progress.
    1. What is the maximum amount of Legacy Event Progress you can have?
    2. What is the conversion rate? Is it going to be a scaling rate like we got with EDCs when the Omega Reputation was introduced?

This is the exact same as it was with the last two events, all FTFO Commendations have already been converted into Legacy Event Progress tokens at a rate of 1 to 1, you can have as many LEPs as you did FTFO Commendations.

Did you miss the part where the conversion is automatic upon character login now? That is most certainly not the same as previous events, since I have plenty of characters with Featured TFO Commendations left over.

very disappointed not by the rewards, but by the content. Again the same old stuff, nothing new.
Infected will still be the viable DPS check

please remove this tfo from the random queues, I'm fed up of doing ad nauseam this mission. If players want to check their dps, ok it is fine for them, but not at the expense of other players
popularity among the player base and the quality of their content.

    really? are you kidding?

The conversion was already automatic, which is why FTFO tokens were able to be slotted into the projects to begin with. The conversion process hasn't changed, the only change is that they are now automatically applied to the event.

What are you talking about? Are we talking about the same thing? By "automatic", I mean "removed from your inventory and converted for you upon login." That never happened before. Compare the wording of this blog post with the previous two. They're completely different.

My understanding is that now when you log on to a character, all Featured TFO Commendations on that character will be consumed and turned into a new account-wide "currency" called "Legacy Event Progress". That new "currency" can be applied at your discretion to new events. But once you've logged on to all your characters at least once, you should have no more Featured TFO Commendations. That's different from how it worked before, and they haven't told us what the new conversion rate will be or whether there will be a cap on Legacy Event Progress.

Ok this looks better than what I expected based on previous posts on the Forum.

The (re-)release of elite missions is a great choice. Making ground missions especially more of a guided experience should also help beginning players greatly, if it is done well.

    Oh, and this was wonderful:
For you veterans – Advanced versions of these TFOs are also available to really test your crew, or deliver them screaming into the comforting nanite embrace of The Collective.

Thanks to the team for their continued efforts to ensure that this content keeps up with the game.

I'm really hoping that we will see these again. They're still the best reputation outfits in the game if you ask me.

These new weapons and the new mechanic they introduce are also interesting. These weapons should be great not just for fighting the Borg, but also for completing 'deal x amount of y type damage' endeavours.

It's interesting. The way I read it is that the new normal Infected is the same as the old advanced. And now advanced will be harder. Difficult to compare old elite with new as so much is changed. As long as timegates are not added it seems fine to me.

I'll explain in simple terms. I have 32 Featured TFO Commendation Tokens on one and only Character. When I log in with that Character next Tuesday, they will be converted to 32 days of Featured TFO Progress. That will be indicated on the Event UI by that number. The 'Apply Legacy Token' button will be probably be renamed something like 'Apply Legacy Progress' and as before you apply progress (days) to the TFO.

No muss, no fuss. Tokens are now gone and you still have the ability to use that progress and don't lose anything.

The new and good thing, Tokens from all across your Account are now put in one big 'bucket' that can be used until exhausted by ANY Character on the Account. You will continue to be able to use them (up to 14 days progress per Featured TFO) to Infinity and Beyond.

The exact same thing you are.

The only difference now is that the tokens are automatically applied the moment you log in. They already established the conversion rate of 1 to 1 in the previous TFOs.

Suppose you have 114 Featured TFO Commendations on a character, and that is the first character you log on to after the patch. Is it your understanding that, after logging on, the event should be automatically completed for you, and you should have 100 Featured TFO Commendations left. My understanding is that you should have no Featured TFO Commendations left, 14 days left on the event, and X amount of Legacy Event Progress.

Is Defera Invasion zone set to be deleted from STO?
Can any DEVs clarify since there are lots of rumors out there.

I could care less for the Hive ground. Defera is the most BORG ground FUN these days and hope they will improve rather than close it down. How about remaking it or create something similar to it.

I'm just thinking about possible ways in the future that the Borg could be made more threatening. What occurred to me today was the trait that comes with one of the cardassian ships and provides a random buff on entering combat.

So, each time they spawn, they get a buff, and each successive wave gets their own plus some portion of the previous. In this way, they successively evolve and each run is a bit different.

Then, on higher difficulties, for each one you get rid of there is a chance that it will be replaced with something one rank up or with multiples. Thus, if you leave them alone for too long or pose too much of a threat, they ramp up the response.

Just spending spare brainpower at work spitballing things that don't require creating new mechanics whole cloth.

Remember when the Omega Reputation was introduced and EDCs were converted at a scaling rate? Remember when they replaced the doff requirements on the colony projects with dilithium and you assumed they would use the same conversion rate as reputation projects? I no longer assume anything about conversion rates until we get explicit confirmation or I see it in-game.

You know, I'm not sure this new Cyclical Modulation gimmick is worth giving up the melee attack for, especially with such a long the animation (as shown in the GIF). Knockback is actually useful in both Cure Ground and Infected Ground.

This would be a great way to slip the Harvester-pattern armors back into the game after getting denied the chance of getting it six years ago when my accolade progress was reset to zero just one Cure Ground away from completing all Elite missions.
