How to get Experimental Weapons?

I'm a returning player from long, long ago. I have a ship with a slot for Experimental Weapons. Where can I find these? How can I purchase them? and What do they do?

I'm sure there is a guide somewhere for people like me.

    there is a basic experimental weapon for escorts found in the dilithium store's reclaim tab. any other kinds r typically found on either lock box, event, or z store ships. As for what they do it, it can depend on what ship they were from. I wish i can tell u more, but I'm more of a cruiser capt than an escort capt so i dont play arround with them much.

    there is also 1 reputation experimental weapon

    There are roughly 19 different types of experimental weapons, majority come from specific ships.
    1 is available for free from the reclaim tab in the dilithium store if you happen to own a ship with an experimental weapon slot (experimental hyperexcited ion stream prjector) ,and 1 is available from the competitive wargames level 3 reputation (experimental flak shot artillery).

    if you get a phoenix reward i tink the Bajoran ship is there. Voice of the prophets is my go to weapon. I heard the rail gun is good too, thats off one of the escorts.
