Account Bound 5 Days Items

What's with the sudden binding of items from lock boxes for 5 days? There doesn't seem to be any logic behind it as items such as VIP mining claims are bound to account anyway. It doesn't make much sense to get 3 like items and 2 are locked for 5 days and 1 isn't.

The Account Management System has noticed 'irregular' purchasing on your account, so your purchases have a limited time Account Binding. This has been happening for a while, and some would say the sensitivity of this detection is a bit high, however it is only temporary for accounts. The system is supposed to protect you and PWE/Cryptic from fraud.

Define irregular. I forgot to purchase Zen last month so now that I purchased Zen this month I'm flagged? Let's be honest here, their intentions may be genuine, but the implementation blows.

Yeah, that's the general consensus. I got flagged just trading Dil to Zen and using that to buy Keys.

I'm still confused as how this is supposed to safeguard against fraud. I thought safeguards set up when purchasing cryptic currency was enough. Now a five day wait before I can sell keys after buying from the c-store (for me that was the experience) is a bit much in my opinion. They really should come up with a better way to do this that doesn't require such a long wait.

I believe it's to discourage scam weasels from (censored word) your account and then selling off the contents as part of their gold selling and gear selling scams.

With the delay you have time to realize your account has been taken over, contact support, and take back the account before it is looted.

If you take away the means to profit from doing that, for-profit weasels will ignore your account and try other scams instead.

Sorry for the delay in reply. Thank you for your explanation! :) I guess in that light it does make sense for a 5 day wait if only to recover anything stolen.

I have found if you buy your Zen through Arc that you wont get this 5 day account bound thing. Havent tested to much yet though.

You still get account bound through Arc. I had it happen once or twice as in the past i used to go through Steam for my zen purchases or topping up my wallet. Of course i have swapped to arc in the last 12 months so if i tried steam now i am certain something would happen :)

It is also a myth that Steam always causes account bound locks. The system i suspect works on sometimes randomly locking certain zen purchases through a complex system looking at your past purchase history. Naturally if you mainly purchase through Steam then go through Arc highly percentage chance of it happening as well as vice versa.

Even a regular purchaser might get locked as a randomly "stop" more safety and other measures. The system might annoy people, but just wait it out and you will be fine. The system is there for our protection. Sometimes protection is painful.

Just want to add my opinion that this both sucks and blows.
I just signed in to the website, logged in through the account guard thing using the code they send via email as confirmation, and still got my purchases as account bound for 7 days.
It's a good idea in principal, but as usual, they end up punishing genuine customers!
When somebody has the account guard in place, surely that's enough to prove who you are, and paying by paypal with the same name as is on the game account should pretty much tell them that it's a genuine purchase.

    Highly disappointing.

Guess I'll go back to freeloading again; just trading dilithium for zen in future.
