    I never understood why the Alliance needed the Weapon Ship to open a rift 200,000-years into the past, when time travel has never been difficult in STO...it just seemed like a waste of the ship, when I thought the danger to the Iconians was the Krenim erasing them from history with it and their temporal science allowing them to decimate their ships.
    The Alliance may have used the Annorax for the time rift because of the exceptionally long time difference. Usually, time travel in Star Trek takes place over a few hundred years at most. Or, it could be just because it was conveniently available.

    Erasing the iconians was undoubtedly the threat the iconians themselves wanted to preempt when ordering the krenim destroyed, but it would never have been a real option for the Alliance. It would've changed all history for 200,000 years. As it is, we tried stopping just the destruction of Romulus with the weapon, a relatively recent event, and even that went majorly pear-shaped right away. Exactly like Annorax's 200 years spent erasing things with his original weapon ship, never with desired result.

    In the plot, the temporal weapon was always meant to be a failure, just like it was in Voyager. As well as setup for the Future arc. First as the perfect example of why you don't want to mess with history, and then as the tool of Noye's temporal temper tantrum.
    They mentioned in the time-sim mission that they started by simulating the erasure of Iconia. Problem? The computer barfed when trying to simulate the present because literally the entire Alliance didn't exist and it had no idea what to replace it with.

    As I recall, Nog mentioned that trying to simply erase the Iconians was the first computer simulation they tried.

    According to him, this resulted in a new timeline in which the Hur'q never obtained warp drive, which meant they never attacked the Klingons, which means the Klingons never developed into a warrior culture, which resulted in a chain reaction of events where the Vulcan Empire conquered most of the Alpha/Beta Quadrants, and was locked into a life or death struggle with the Dominion.

    Now, there's a new season of STO for you ;-)

    Armada 2 and Armada 1. Good times.
    Some of the ship designs and ideas in those games were awesome.

    Also played a TC for it for some time called Fleet Operations.
    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    FleetOps was fun! Still is. It made the move to this laptop and runs well. Armada II was fun to mod. Did more than a few mods for A2. Physics Mod. BSG addon. Some ships. Doing the BSG addon was a blast. Especially because people kept telling me things like, "You'll never be able to get Galactica to launch Vipers.", or, "You'll never be able to make the Colonials or the Cylons Jump like in the show."

    Yeah. My fleet used to meet above the door of the beam in room for PvP events weekly in those days. That was also back before they stripped a lot of dev commands out of the chatbox, like Q teleporting. That also reminds me of something else I miss. The tailor commands to use items in your costumes and characters that were normally locked out, like tails on non-cat creatures. :D

    I already miss being able to invite friends to my ship's bridge, that we had in earlier days of STO(nobody said how far back earlier we had to go). Being able to get a little bit of lobi from Featured Episode runs. I also miss the old DS9 with higher population caps. Yes, I know the new version is more in line with the show, but it's also far more cramped feeling nowadays, with npcs still clogging everywhere or hopping on the bar. I miss the spiderweb pattern that the NPCs in the old Quark's bar had for walking around. And I miss Woadie. I miss a Quark's Bar where there wasn't a Nog taking up space and mad-dogging people walking in like he was a primate on the porch. Day/Night cycle on Risa and Bajor. Permanent duration Stealth Module for roleplaying and combat bypass. Old kit frames like Bunker Specialist.

    > the iconian in game are badly writen anyway. The only way to "defeat" them: oh! cool they can't do time travel; this is so ridiculous. burnham's mother can create a temporal suit (this is also ridiculous), but the iconian - the most powerful race in the galaxy - can't find a solution to do time travels!!!!

    So a random scientist named Rodger Corby, who knew nothing about robotics or AI can transfer his mind into an Android and thats fine. A body can have its brain removed and be run around like an RC car and thats ok. However a scientist established as an expert in temporal mechanics designs a temporal travel device and thats ridiculous? No sorry, doesn't work that way.

    what are you talking about?

    All the temporal TRIBBLE present in sto but also in a lot of content (tv shows, etc), is the just the symptom of a lack of imagination. In my opinion, they have created a too powerful specie (iconian), and they use the ridiculous temporal trick to erase them for the game (in the way that they are not a threat). I don't blame the sto staff, because they are not the only one to use this trick.

    + the way how this temporal trick is used, doesn't follow the current theories.

    Some of y'all need to make up your minds. You can miss stable servers, or you can miss Exploration Clusters, but you can't have both at the same time. Or do you truly not remember why they were removed?

    But you can still miss them.

    we've never had truly stable servers, so you can't miss something that never existed

    Consider this a double-quote, mate.
    Agreed on all possible levels!

    Not agreeing with someone doesn't give you the right to be an TRIBBLE.

    Ci sono tre tipi di giocatori:
    - quelli a cui non va mai bene niente... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
    - quelli che sono talmente imbesuiti da credere a qualunque cosa i dev dicano, perfino che la luna è fatta di formaggio... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
    - quelli che credono a quello a cui è giusto credere, sono d'accordo con quello con cui è giusto essere d'accordo e sono critici con quello che non va;

    Ai giocatori dei primi due tipi, gratis in omaggio un bello specchio lucente su cui arrampicarsi. E una mazzata in testa per la loro poca intelligenza e compassione verso gli altri giocatori che non la pensano come loro.
    Agli appartenenti al terzo tipo, invece, dico grazie. Anche se non sempre si riesce a mantenere la calma, siete quelli per cui vale la pena incazzarsi.

    How exactly? It was a computer simulation.

    Episode one, change the timeline. Episode two, a story set in that altered timeline. Episode three, restore the timeline, etc. I'm not saying it was ever a viable option, but it would have been fun to do.

    I didn't realize that had been taken away! It was great to be invited to the bridge of a ship you couldn't afford, like a Tholian one and I remember inviting friends onto my Tuffli to use the services.

    Currently the function isn't working. Tuesday's patch busted it. As of Friday, I've had fleet members telling me that it still doesn't work.

    Have to agree with a lot of what folks have posted as to what they miss. One thing I would add to that is BGO and the old Borg DSE before Delta Rising hit the streets. Loads of fun for me when some of my old fleetmates wanted to do some borg farming. :)

    I miss in the Dyson Ground Battlezone being able to run between capture points without rubberbanding several plus times. Or travelling between points in sector space without rubberbanding, or running across a social zone like ESD or DS9 without rubberbanding or simply just loading into this game and not rubberbanding every 30 secs-2mins
    maR4zDV.jpg

    Hello rubber banding my old friend, time to bounce around the battlezone again, where are all my bug reports going?, out of love with this game I am falling, As Cryptic fail to acknowledge a problem exists, Shakes an angry fist, And from Support all I'm hearing are the sounds of silence.
