Assault on Boreth -- am I just too newbish?

OK, new to KDF but not new to STO. Not, however, any kind of expert or anything. Never PvPd, and I'm still not up to speed on the finer points of tuning consoles/weapons/abilities/boffs/etc.
Having said that...PvE hasn't been too tough for me, but this carrier at Boreth is just kicking my rear in no time. I'm wondering if anyone has some strategy suggestions for beating this beast. I'm a Cap 9 flying a BoP -- and maybe that's my problem right there. I try spamming him with a variety of things -- Jam Sensors, VM, etc. -- but inevitably he starts spamming mines and tortured souls (??) and whatnot, and in a blink my hull is just gone.

Maybe a BoP is just too fragile. Even with RSP, ET1, ST1, etc. my hull evaporates.
Maybe I'll try a Raptor.
BoP is all I fly (and have flown) so its possible. Keep moving your shield facings to keep a strong one in the line of fire and hit and run/cloak to get a chance to heal up between strikes. I may have just gotten lucky when I did this last.:) Good luck to you.
