General feedback and suggestions

To Devs:

So first off, let me start off by saying I have been playing this game pretty much since it came out and I absolutely love it. It is the only MMORPG I play and I thoroughly enjoy it. I think Cryptic and all the Devs have done a fantastic job in creating a very beautiful, believable Star Trek world, and I always look forward to the next expansion or latest update.

As a Star Trek fan and a gamer there are always things I would like to see to improve the experience, so I have made a few suggestions below. I am by no means criticising the game or the developers in anyway as I believe the game is great as it is. However, these are some things that I personally believe would enhance the experience further, at least for me anyway. Any feedback on this is welcome :)

1. BOFF uniform selection in space: I know a few people have requested this in the past and I feel it would be a great feature if we were able to select our saved BOFF uniforms in space or out in the world, much like we can with our character uniforms, rather than having to go to a tailor each time. It would add a great level of immersion and be a welcome feature if possible.

2. Fed & Klingon Characters being able to group for story missions: So, the main storyline has progressed to the point where the Klingons and Federation of the 25th century are once again on friendly terms. The war is over and they are united against the many enemies they both face. Therefore I think it would make sense for characters of these factions to be able to group together. I would relish the opportunity to ally with some of my Klingon friends and complete story missions and patrols together!

3. A Holodeck on DS9 / Spacedock / Kronos: I would love a chance to visit a holodeck or holosuit on one of the space stations like DS9 and partake in a holo-simulation. I think it would be a great place to test new kit, builds etc, and a place for those of us who wish to roleplay to socialise. There could a be small selection of "programs" to play ranging from combat simulations to short roleplaying missions or social areas. Would definitely add to the immersion I feel :)

4. More to to at the Captain's Rest: As a lifetime subscriber I have access to the Captain's Rest (I think that's what it's called) and I was very excited to visit there, however when I arrived there wasn't really anything to do except walk around and view the station. It would be great if there was something more to do here to make it seem more worthwhile. Perhaps a mission or two, or a dabo table, vendors, that sort of thing. Just something to make it worth visiting.

5. More hairstyles and facial hair etc: I know this has been mentioned a lot so I'm not going to labour the point. More long hairstyles for male characters too please!

6. Better graphics: I realise I am pissing in the wind with this one as I know this is highly unlikely for a multitude of technical reasons I don't understand, but thought I would mention anyway. The game is still beautiful though :)

7. More variety in missions: So this might be a bit contentious, but a lot of the missions I feel are quite repetitive and follow the same format, namely: Space combat, beam down to said area and engage in ground combat, then beam back for another final space combat. It has become a little too predictable for my liking and is one of the reasons I miss the Foundry missions :( I'm not criticising the writers, but it would be great if there was a little more variety in the missions and if the format could be changed a little more frequently to add some degree of unpredictability and variety to the stories. It would be great to have some missions that don't revolve around combat, and are perhaps more focused on exploration or problem solving of some kind. I also used to enjoy some of the patrol missions where you would beam down to a planet and explore it, maybe collecting stuff or investigating the area and then beam back without firing a shot. I know I may be in a minority here, but for me those little missions were quite nice as they broke up the monotony of combat focused missions and felt more like a Star Trek episode. More of those in my opinion would be good :)

8. Lastly, I think it would be great to have more worlds to re-visit. We have the likes of Vuclan, Pjem, Defera, Risa Nimbus etc., but of those only Nimbus and Risa have anything on it to do. It would be great if we could visit some more of the worlds of the Star Trek universe and have some things to do whilst we're down there, even if it is just a bit of shopping or games. But if possible, a mission or two would be cool. I personally would love to visit Betazed, or Andoria, or Trill and get to do a bit of exploring. I realise this would be a big Dev task and is probably unlikely to happen, but it would be a cool addition if it is possible.

So, that's my list but of course these are entirely my opinions. As I said, I love the game and I love the work that Cryptic and the Devs put into it, so thank you guys, you're doing a great job! Comments and feedback welcome. Thanks :)

I just thought of one more thing I would like - and again this might be a bit contentious - but I for one would like to see fewer storylines focused around Star Trek Discovery. I realise this is the latest series and the game would obviously like to keep up with current programming, but let's face it, Discovery is a bit TRIBBLE. That's my view anyway, but I know I large portion of Star Trek fans feel the same. I'm not expecting STO's approach on this to change, but again just voicing my opinion. I loved the Gamma story line which focused on DS9 and the Dominion, and there's so much more that could be done with this and other storylines. I'd like to pretend Discovery doesn't exist, and I suspect I am not alone in this! Not expecting that to change anything of course, just my opinion ;)
