Ship packup feature

How would you feel about the ability to pack up loot box ships and transfer them to other characters on the same account -- say for a zen cost?

    Yes but its reasonable to be asked again, for a price, its a win-win scenarion, for cryptic(due to fee) and for us because we can corrent a potential error

    Just put in in the FCT, and done with it.. it's not in Cryptic best interest to have a feature like that...

    A couple of months ago Kael said they are currently discussing if they should make lockbox ships account wide, but no decision has been made.

    Stuff is frequently closed without being in the FCT so it is not really necessary as this topic has been brought up by the Developers themselves. Many new posters need to be instructed in the ways of the Ee'd Plebnista first.

    they should just make it an account unlock... or after you own one you can buy an account unlock on the zen store for 2k zen (that's $20).

    Ok I have this ideal and I am sure it could cause problems in some ways.
    The purpose of this thread is to see what if any amount of the game players would pay for such a system and how you would consider the best way to go about implementing the ideal in general.

    We several times in the past have people request account unlocks for lobi and lockbox ships. In addition to this for new/returning players or those that have had real life issues and missed event ships that now need phoenix box tokens to get. Also some requests for reruns of featured episodes rewards such as the shard/cane and other trinkets.

    With this in mind I was thinking of a zen/Dil option to box up these items and let a person transfer them to other characters. This could provide a dil sink the developers are looking for. I could see these effecting sales of ships and keys. It could also cause a drastic change to the exchange as ships could be overloaded on it. To prevent some issues in this regard you could make the repacked ship bound to the account.

    As a second ideal of a way to do this transfer and may be more practical is we have a drydock already. I am guessing the storage of the ship in reality is a database entry holding only mastery and the ship no fittings or other info need be stored with it as far as I can see.

    Sale an account drydock letting a person dock the ship and undock on a different character. You could limit this in several ways to only select ships preventing a moving a federation ship to your klingon for instance.

    As to the cost of this you could make it be in zen/dil as a per use transaction. Also as a much higher unlimited transfers or tie the free/unlimited to a lifetime account as a perk to sell them as well as for having one. And even if the perk is to make it cost Dil only as opposed to zen or some combination of the two.

    Depending on just how well the programmers have set up the system to start with this could be a matter of a copy past with edited pointers to a different/new part of a database. I don’t know but given the account bank and drydock already being set up as systems in game it could be a simple(simple being relative to the programmers perspective) hybrid combination of the two systems code. Or this could present a nightmare, impossible, unholy, depraved, hack of coding. I don’t know.

    On to the problems I see for this.

    Traits from a starship are added to the character once leveled it could be hard or impossible to remove this from the character. So would it be left as earned or removed if even possible? May be left as is but deactivated on the character unless the ship is present on the characters or the personal drydock? Likewise as to the hanger pets with the ship unlock.

    The issue with moving the consoles weapon access that comes with some ships. Would all this be as a deactivated case or unusable unless the ship is in the characters ship list?

    Would this be possible to be monetized to compensate for ship sales, or keys? I am sure this could present a loss or gain dependent on how it is implemented. I do think deactivating the ships bonuses on a character when not available to the character would provide a reason to have more than one and not affect current monetized setup regarding ships.

    I think it would be possible to have this transfer ability of ships and a possible way to pay to move select items around my account. Why I would not buy a second ferengi whip for my account. I can see me making a single use purchase of a few $ to box it or transfer it to a different character such as if I make a ferengi. Likewise to move a shard to a different one on my account or even just to box up for a future creation, or race.

    To close on this wall or text.
    Why I can see it being a possible source of issues if not implemented in a fluid and automated setup requiring little to no actions on the devs past providing a tag to select items as to what is available to transfer.

    And as I am sure that cryptic can come up with their own way to make this ideal provide an income to the game and also provide new options to the players.

    So in the end:
    1. Would you pay for this type of feature?
    2. How would you change this ideal?
    3. In the end would you consider this paying for the dev time and resources to implement such a system or not?

    Yes, this has been proposed countless times now, the Dev's have looked at and at the moment, the word is no.

    Thanks for the comment. I and others i had been speaking to in game were not aware of such being proposed. And felt it was worth a post.

    Why i had figured the ideal was not something that would happen any time soon or if at all as you point out at the moment it is a no.

    But on the subject of the ideal. What if anything from what was posted would you change and what and how much if any would you pay for this type of a feature?

    To be honest, a special transfer slot would be fantastic, but I wouldn't pay for repeated use of it, and no more than 500z. It is still going to be a considerable amount of work to reprogram all one-off character bound ships for this capability, as it can't be done with one swipe of the wand, as C-Store ships are reclaimable. However, the best idea floated was to use the T6 Ship Mastery that the used with JH ships.

    Something like this maybe considered again in the future, as they do come back to this sort of thing, but as long as they have decent income from Lockboxes and Promo Boxes, it's not something they will do in the immediate future.

    Agreed, thats how SWTOR does it, pay a few to get account unlock of items.

    I would even be happy with a T5U or T4 version being the account unlock
