Is kinetic and physical damage the same?

specifically, the Voice of the Prophet's weapon, it does 5 time the damage as the standard electric weapon, but iare either electric or physical damage negated by shields like torpedos are?

Kinetic and physical damage in game aren't the same thing, even if they may sometimes behave similarly. Kinetic damage is something like a standard quantum or photon torpedo. It's fired at extreme speed and that kinetic energy (the energy making it move) is part of what causes the damage. Physical damage effects the actual physical item and doesn't need to be loaded with kinetic energy to do damage. This could be something that shakes a target or does something to the physical form of the target to deal its damage. Hope that makes sense.

In STO terms no physical damage is not the same as kinetic. But look at the TR and the Chocrane Shotgun, one is physical damage, one is kinetic, the physical shotgun ignores shields, the kinetic TR needs 4x mods to bypass shields.

This is essentially correct, though I have one minor nit pick that most folks miss. the 4xShPen on the Tr-116b is actually a singular mod instead of multiple mods stacked together. Threw me for a loop when one of the devs said that several streams ago. Either Borticus or Spartan and I can't remember which one of them said it.

and is electrical treated as energy like a phaser or disruptor? are there any of the heavy weapons that are boosted by the tactical consoles?

No, because 'energy weapons' are technically particle weapons, which electrical isn't.

I'm pretty sure as far as the game is conserned "electric" and "radiation" are an energy school not boosted by any consoles, for example the Borg can adapt to electric damage on ground (as well as radiation damage) but not physical or kinetic.

"Energy" is a group keyword for the standard six: phaser, disruptor, plasma, polaron and antiproton. When you something says buff energy damage, or energy damage resistance, it means those six. Nothing else.

There is one console and another 2 part set that boost Radiation. Saying that Radiation it odd as there are two forms of Radiation damage which are not the same.

Nope. Electric and Radiation are seperate damage types from Energy and are classed as Exotic. Radiation is EPG boosted, as I think Electric maybe.

There are two Radiation damage types; Only 1 is exotic and boosted by EPG. The other is not exotic and is boosted by +Radiation damage like the damage console. There are also a few odd items that are Radiation but not boosted by anything.

"Exotic" is a parameter of the ability used, not the damage type. No damage type is inherently "Exotic."

So a better way to say it is only some radiation damage is boosted by exotic. While other radiation damage is boosted by +Radiation damage.
