Formal Name Order

I'd like to import characters from my roleplay setting into STO. But, the main government entity's naming custom echoes Ancient Rome's with a "private name," a surname, and a "public name." While I know that exact system is impractical in STO, I'd like to echo the East Asian (Chinese, etc.) surname-first custom, if possible. A while ago, I remember being able to set the display order how I want it. Now—however, that seems to be impossible, at least, with the Steam client. Is that option still available in Arc's client? If not, when was it removed?

My current main has her name in the eastern order, I use the steam client though IIRC the PC clients are essentially the same apart from how you launch it.

Your "character name" that's displayed to other players without checking the player stats won't change though. Your character screen should have a button that says "edit records" press that to open the records part of the character screen that there should be drop-down menu that allows you to change the formal name order between "first middle last" and "last first middle".

EDIT:it might not change order in the character records screen but it will when NPCs address your character by the chose full name (or first and last name).

Thanks, spiritborn. I remembered the option being directly on the creation screen as a selection bubble. Unfortunately, I can't change name order due to lack of EC.

As far I can remember changing your records is 100% free I could be wrong though I've not messed with those in ages (as for the character creation I dunno, could be something they've changed when they did the overhaul).

If it's a first name-change, it's free. If it's been changed already, then it costs EC.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

There is no such thing in STO as Steam or Arc Client. They are both only portals, not Clients, which launch the same Cryptic Client (startrekonline.exe). So launching by Steam, Arc or by the original Client has no affect on anything in-game; it's all the same.

If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
