Is player housing really not wanted?

varzecvarzec Member Posts: 129 Media Corps
After watching this weeks Ten Forward i've been mulling over the statement that no one is interested in decorations or even the idea of player housing. So often the character creator is called the true end game. With the loss of the Foundry the only real way of being creative in the game is the tailor. So, as a way to pass the time between these new featured TFO and a story stuck in the past with the Discovery show, we should be able to be creative with our interiors.

To me being able to display my accolades or be able to choose decorations inside my Star ship interior seems like a fun way to be creative. So I submit this proposal for the consideration to the developers.

A single updated interior created for each faction that has the basic rooms. We would also be able to control the uniform of the wandering crew.

Bridge
No Customization just choose your bridge from our options we do have. IF there is any customization is maybe allow the msd display to change with the type of ship. Allow the ability to remove the bridge crew to open up the seats for Role Players. Also the helm could access the Transwarp list that when you leave the ship your in that area.

Ready Room

The current ready room be the the starting option with its trophy slots. Variants could be purchased either with dilithium or our most unused currency gold pressed latnum.

Crew Quarters
A Basic crew quarter room but with several trophy slots for decorations that can be earned by accolades, mission or purchased.

Sickbay
Basic sickbay that could be replaced with purchased variants. It could have trophy slots but that is not necessarily the purpose for a sick bay.

Mess Hall
Generic Mess Hall with Trophy and Decoration points.

Engineering
A Basic engineering room but with choices of choosing different visuals for warp cores and perhaps other consoles. Or a different variant of the room.

Transporter Room
Basic Transporter Room.

Specialty Rooms
Science/Engineering Labs - Could give bonuses to crafting/upgrading/ and re-engineering.
Astro Metrics Lab - The voyager Astro Metrics Lab
Holodeck - Visit Vistas that are not normally visit-able in the game outside of missions. Pahvo being an example.
Game-Rooms - Holodecks that might have games such as velocity. (Pong with phasers) Games could be played with friends invited to the bridge.
Target Practice Areas
Training Holoprograms - Worf's training sim
Bridge Officer Crew Quarters
Etc.

Now to find decorations could be from our earned accolades, vendors in the social zones or the traveling ferengi that has historic items. AKA Tom Paris' Retro TV. Andoria could have the Ushaan Weapons as a wall trophy available for purchase. Bajor could sell the Bajor symbols of the prophets for crew quarter decorations. Basically sell items of cultural value that could liven up our quarters.

If we need a way to actually spend money or zen. I would pay for the ability to do this. I paid for foundry slots that never even got published so I am willing to purchase the ability to even do this. However, because I am willing doesn't mean everyone else is so I would suggest a base option be available, but the changing of room variants requires spending money, Just like us buying the bridges.

I feel the most stellar part about this proposal is that its only requires some new art, maybe some new mechanics, but we use the already existing Trophy System. How hard would it be to transform some of the assets used in the foundry into trophies?

Whats the thoughts, is it really out of the realm of possibility?

I know one of the first answers be we can't do anything on our interior, but just like player housing in any other game, it should be about creativity and to show off stuff to our friends.

Not 100% sure, but I think this is an FCT. I however would love customizable interiors.

Not sure what an FCT is... if it is bad the moderators are free to take it down.

I guess it could be considered a general demand thread. I just wanted to share some thoughts and see if anyone else shared my thoughts.

not fct yet, but the fact someone think it is should tell you how often it gets brought up.

so yeah at least some people are interested, but, and this a a common problem with cryptic, because people don't bother with the basically useless version we has now. they say we aren't cause the holy metrics say so.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

I sympathize. I advocate for Starship Interiors myself and have offered up ideas for them as well. Unfortunately, those that support Starship Interiors are apparently a minority of the population. In the recent livestream it was stated that Cryptic's data doesn't show support for player housing. That said, Full Custom Starship Interiors is an FCT topic. /Thread
