Advance vs Elite Ques... worth the hassle?

tigerariestigeraries Member Posts: 3,492 Arc User
You probably get more Marks but do you also get more Elite Marks?

Advance gives ya 1 Elite Mark... would doing the Que at Elite give you more than 1 Elite Mark? Or you just get a small boost in regular marks?

While I prefer playing Elite from a reward to time factor it tends to work out worse then advanced. Most of the time I can complete an advanced before I can even get the Elite to start. But I find Elite more fun.

Depends on how much of a challenge you're looking for.

Overall, I would not say it's 'worth the hassle' to most players.

I personally almost never do Elites in Public Groups, I only run them in pre-mades (or at least 3/5 pre made.) If you have a couple other people that you also know are competent players then Elite Queues are not that bad at all. If you queue up public and get a bunch of players who think they're great but have no idea.. then you're in for a rough run.

If you just want to get your rewards and be done with it, Advanced is the best option. Elite doesn't reward particularly well, it's something you play because you want the extra challenge for you and your team.

Elite marks are such a pointless thing, I wish they'd remove them from the game. They are worth 100 normal marks so just give an extra 100 marks in TFOs and increase the gear price accordingly.

Way back they said there was too many currencies and killed off the Exploration Badges (?) and we have more currencies now than we had then when there was 'too many'.

Like others pointed out one gets 2 instead of 1 elite marks in elite compared to advanced and I believe the average mark pay out should be roughly 1/3 higher.

    That’s it.

What do you have to deal with to get it compared to advanced?

    - DPS min requirements 3-4 times as high
    - Fail conditions
    - No RTFO support
    - Small chance to encounter team-mates that will be able to make up for others so high chance for you to be required to contribute.

In my experience a team consisting of fife 150k+ DPSer can manufacture the same conditions in elite than I would encounter by simply pugging the same map in advanced and do most by myself. The maps simply begin to play as fluent then.

That would also answer the question of your thread title for me. 150k+ per team-mate and elite becomes worth the hassle. Below that, no chance under the offered rewards.

Elites are the only way to justify having dropped a ton of dil and effort into upgrading gear.

Queueing up on your own for them can be time consuming depending partly on the timezone you're in.

Elite space is one of those things that you do when you're "in the mood" for it. Elite ground was generally just as easy as advanced ground but I haven't tried an elite queue since the update so the jury is still out for me.

Elite gives 2 elite marks. I don't and never will care about "time/reward" felgercarb but Elite still has fail conditions so I prefer Elite for that reason rather than the auto win of normal and advanced.

Same here, plus you get Elite R&D boxes.

Some of the Elite instances are actually quite easy if you're any decent.

The Competitive ones actually are great if they actually popped. People are scared of running this and this is some of the easiest Elite queues you can ever do.

I used to also regularly PUG Miner Instabilities Elite, which isn't even much harder than the Advanced version. Why on several of my characters I got mountains and mountains of Temporal Marks and tons of the Elite Rep Tokens for it.

I play advanced space and elite ground.

I kinda play STO with a handicap where I do not bother to allocate any of my specialization points. I can do 20k to30k DPS space depending on the character. That's fine for advanced in my opinion.

I prefer doing elite ground because it is a lot easier to build for and it is also far less difficult than elite space.

I never did MI Normal but have done a lot of Advanced and Elite. The main concern is the spike damage. Advanced already has that and if you can deal with MI Adv., Elite is very much the same. The problem is people are scared now to do MINE these days and I think most settle for MIA when the Elite is the same thing, but higher rewards.

Heh, on normal you can have cases where you get focus fired to death by 6 or more enemies all at once.

It's not the same, because the Advanced qualifies for RTFO and therefore pops faster.

close to all the elite ground maps are super easy if you have a propper kit layout, decent armor, some of the good personal traits a nakuhl shield and a good weapon. compared to space, ground is super cheap to equip, shouldnt be more than maybe 50m ec if you're not going for a lobi weapon.

in general you get more dil, 2 elite marks and a salvage technology for a elite queue. the mark reward is sometimes a bit messy, because on some queues (rhlo station) the reward is basically based on the amount of devices killed and there you kill just a minor amount at elite.

overall ground tours (doing the fastest queues in a row) are pretty common to be run.

I'm just now getting into some of the Advanced space maps. I doubt I will ever be able to do Elite, though that's fine too. Advanced is fine, especially if I need the elite mark.
Now a LTS and loving it.

This isn't a matter of worth it. It's a matter of need it.

You can get everything you need from Normal and Advanced.

Elite is just there if you want to do it. So, overall, no it's not worth the hassle.

As for the random TFO boxes. Well, guess what, they're random as well. I've gotten an Epic one from a Normal TFO.

Normal and Advanced have a different random box (the Advanced one is, no surprise, bigger). They both come in all rarities.
