The jacket and vest is under Off Duty - Jacket Loose Long as DSC Civilian Leather Jacket. Selecting the jacket automatically forces the DSC Terran Security Vest - Tight under Undershirt to be selected as well. Only the vest is currently available in uniforms as the DSC Terran Security Vest in Chest Gear.

While I dislike the fact this queue is a rehash of an existing one, I will at least give credit for the Devs giving us something that seemingly wasn't on the schedule. There is supposed to be another queue released next month according to the 2018/2019 content roadmap, and the graphic for it shows ground combat aboard a Terran(?) ship. Now, the graphic could simply have been a place holder and Pahvo Gauntlet is the queue we were getting all along. If so then it is more of a disappointment.
If y'all watched the livestream last night, then you'd have known going in that it was a reskin of Dranuur Gauntlet, as Kael said as much. Just FYI.

I appreciate the fact these livestreams happen at all. I personally do not have time to sit and watch them. I also understand that any kind of synopsis or write up of these livestreams would be unofficial and/or done by a volunteer, that would be the only way I would get the information contained in them. So thank you for informing us that the Dev team let it be known this was a copy of Dranuur Gauntlet beforehand.

I'm happy with the fact I don't have to worry about facing Vaadwaur, Tzenkethi, or Heralds though.

I will agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment. Being limited to two possible groups makes this version much more palatable.

The rubber klinks are as weak and pathetic as they were in the last one.

Terrans are only tricky if multiple escorts turn up and spam their broken 20k per hit torps.

Dreadnaughts for both are at best mediocre bullet sponges.

In our latest Featured TFO, Peril over Pahvo, Captains will face an invading fleet of enemy ships to defend this mysterious planet.

So a recycled Dranuur Gauntlet with Discovery enemies. Great well thanks for changing the map to at least represent Discovery. This is just lazy.

While I understand the sentiment behind a TFO that is a carbon copy with some slight tweaks, I don't think everyone understands that there is probably a reason why they did this one as a carbon copy.

My take on the situation is that they're likely putting the finishing touches on the next big content drop that is coming to STO, which is Age of Discovery Part 3. They bumped up Personal Endeavors, which were supposed to have gone out this month, so it left a hole in their "something every month" kick that they've been on recently, so they got VanZyl's actress to record lines, slapped together the map and the points for the critter groups to spawn in, and they sent the TFO on its way.

Next month we're getting another TFO which seems to be ground based once again. Until then, we have this to run for rewards.

If so, they should had simply reskin Dranuur and not create another TFO with the same mechanics.
Dranuur is a mess and indeed need some work, the event should had been something different.
I could excuse them only if they want to use the event as a benchmark to redesign Dranuur, but even in this
case the players already gave quite some feedback (that have been completely ignored).

oh it seems like draanur gauntlet got the same changes/improvements they introduced for the new queue. basically we just have the same queue x2 atm, just with different enemies

No, it isn't. Just like saying the revamped story arcs are reskins and revamps of the old story arcs isn't misinformation despite the fact that the new story arcs have their own things the pre-revamped ones didn't.

That's a false analogy, wide of the topic and your original point, to cover misinformation. The other TFO's in AoD are not reskins (at best you can make thematic comparisons but the objective structure, maps, and mechanics are very different,) whereas Peril over Pahvo was created by making minor alterations to the Dranuur Gauntlet TFO (source: Ten Forward Weekly.) Even revamped episode series undergo deeper alterations to maps, objectives, and progression (hence the word: revamp as opposed to reskin to mark the changes made in mutually intelligible ways.)

This is a very basic summation.

As a point for devil's advocate: deeper alterations to TFO's do take time which isn't easily budgeted from dev schedules (there's only so much they can do for a given piece of content to respond to feedback, at a certain point they have to move on.) So a reskin like this could very much be a targeted opportunity to improve Dranuur enemy spawns to fold into the original TFO (CCA style). That said, it would help to lead into the marketing of the TFO with this reason (if it was the principle one in deciding to reskin Dranuur Gauntlet, in particular) since then it avoids setting up errant expectations and helps bring players into the dev process.

Even if folks still don't like it, there's at least more to appreciate in the effort.

It was just an FYI, no need to get huffy about it. For those that seemed surprised at the reskin, perhaps if they had seen the livestream, they'd have been less surprised by it.

If whoever decided to take AFK gauntlet as an inspiration for PoP actually played that damn thing on holodeck once in a while, he would have been less surprised by the reception of it.

But that's not even the thing what bothers me. Putting out blame for not watching the livestream is.
Guess what, some people actually live in timezones that are not compatible with cryptic time. Kaels livestreams happen in the late night for me, and the sporadic PVE livestream that happens in a time I 'could' watch is a) sporadic and b) in ze gERmAn..... TIEFENRAUM NEUN!!!

Thank you for demoting me to second class player. I appreciate it.

Am I missing where to get notified of a livestream in the Foums? I never see a mention of such a thing so I assume I'm never in the right place at the right time.

Or is there perhaps a Twitch or Youtube channel to which I should subscribe?

You mean the 400 people who follow the livestream wouldn't have got huffy, however the rest of the player base who don't follow the livestream wouldn't have known anything about it would they? So, assuming the playerbase is more still considerably more than 400 players that's the vast majority knew nothing until they played it and found out it was a reskin of DG.

As usual, the problem relates back to Cryptic's appalling lack of communication with their players, unless that is they are selling them something. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw an actual Dev commenting on this forum.

Oh, and I'll just leave this here, it's from their patch notes on Thursday:

Pervil over Pahvo Featured Task Force Operation
Peril over Pahvo is an all new Featured Task Force Operation, where five Alliance captains will deal with the invasion events in the Pahvo system.

    Bingo.

Just because they talked about it on a live stream watched by like.. 1% of the player base, excuses nothing. As pointed out, it's advertised as a all new featured task force operation.. not a revamp of an already unpopular queue. It would have been much better to just release nothing and give everyone the armor/costume as a 'thanks.'

All I can say is, I had 900 zen from a while ago. It was sitting there, so I bought the 10 vouchers. Simply because I want the outfit, but I am not playing this copy and paste TFO for 14 days to get it.

In my opinion, they should just give the outfit to everyone as compensation for the this. I would have rather went a month with nothing, than have this.

I have to agree, it would have been better to do nothing.

The biggest issue I have is that I actually look forward to this new content. Even if they had been up front and said in the announcement blog that it was a re-skin.. at least then I wouldn't have had any real expectations. Instead, they mention it casually.. the day before, to the few people that happen to be watching the live stream.

The crux of my issue is the disappointment I felt when I logged in to experience this "new" content.. and saw that it's just an old queue re-skinned and in ultra easy mode.

Jesus! You people, I swear. I didn't mention it to "excuse" anything. It was FYI only.

And I'm not "blaming" anyone for missing the livestream, nor making anyone a "second class" anything for missing it either. But hey! They are recorded and available to stream via Twitch or Facebook at any time.

And for those unaware: Ten Forward livestream happens every Wednesday via Twitch or Facebook, and those announcements are usually posted on Twitter and Facebook.

Most people in here know that information is put out on multiple platforms: Twitter, Facebook, etc. And yes, those are official sources as well. If you chose not to avail yourself of those avenues to gain information, that's your choice. But you cannot blame the devs for lack of communication when they put out information ALL THE TIME.

And better to have done nothing? Ha! Yeah. This bunch historically doesn't react well to that either. :smirk: The devs literally can't win for losing. There's always going to be some subset of the playerbase unhappy with whatever they've done.

Lol, yeah right. You're old enough around this forum, you joined only a few months after I did, to know exactly how badly this would have gone down.

So I'd very much beg to differ.

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

The excuse part was directed at Cryptic, not at you. Also, no one ever accused you of blaming anyone. No one has taken any shot at you personally, you're just taking it that way for some reason. You raised the point about the live stream, we gave our opinion on why that was insufficient from Crytpic's end. None of that is your fault, nor did we imply that it was.

If there was an expectation to begin with.. then yes.. but there wasn't. The roadmap had a feature set for this month that we have already received (Personal Endeavors,) so no one was expecting this. It was out of the blue, not something that was put in to curtail expectations. I had no expectations of anything for this month until they made the announcement.

Even still, advertising it honestly would have alleviated part of the issue. Yes, some would have still been unenthusiastic about a re-skin for dranuur.. but at least we wouldn't have been logging in expecting something new.

A lot of this is just a furthering of already built up frustration over the poor communication that Cryptic has with it's player base. Hence the reason people are upset over announcing it on the live stream, at it's root.. what we're really upset about is a continued lack of communication between the development team and the player base. These frustrations are snowballing into other areas and blowing things that normally wouldn't be that bad into far bigger issues.

Cryptic would communicate more if the forums weren't a hive of petty insults and misrepresentations of what they said, hence why they talk more on reddit then here.

I don't entirely disagree with that, but we're in a sort of 'vicious cycle.' Players lash out because they believe that communication is sub par, and the development team doesn't communicate because of the forum vitriol. I have noticed though that when a Dev actually does reply, people seldom reply with hostility, most of that hostility comes in the absence of communication. Still, part of the responsibility is absolutely on the community, I have been guilty myself for the very reason of being fed up with the lack of back and forth and difficulty of obtaining information.

Then my apologies to all for misunderstanding and becoming frustrated myself. I'm simply doing my best to get information out there as best I can.

It could have been better handled on both sides, apologies to you as well for any miscommunication. Sometimes general anger comes across as focused at everyone, even those that clearly don't deserve it.

I'd like to add: NOT A FAN of it showing up in Random Queue/TFO like, oh 4 times in almost a row on one character. I took a Leaver Penalty to escape it at that point. Please for the sanity of me, and others, remove Pahvo "Gauntlet" from the Random Rotation. It's like having Romulan Minefield show up, pointless to consistently have people random queue for something that is either a dilithium or mark farm, and there is no cool down on said TFO.

Ah cool. Thanks for the scoop!

I'll admit that the devs find themselves in a pickle jar. There is a reason they don't frequent the forum, at least under their Dev title. If a dev mentions in passing they they like teddy bears in formal wear someone will eventually accuse them of not delivering on the promise to add said formal teddy bear to the game.

Conversely a near absolute lack of communication on the "official" game forum is viewed as bad PR.

I wouldn't want to have to do that balancing act.

Never mind all the other stuff like politics in the workplace, budget cuts, questionable leadership, etc... You know, the same stresses everyone has to deal with.

The devs have my sympathy. But there are other elements, generally those in charge of purse strings and those who make certain decisions, who have earned my scorn.

I'll try to be better at making that distinction.

Thanks again for the info BMR!

I chose to avail myself of the information in the official patch notes, in there it says, and I quote: "Peril over Pahvo is an all new Featured Task Force Operation

It is not ALL new at all, therein lies the problem.

"Luke, you going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view."

It is new in that the queue itself, Peril over Pahvo, did not exist before now. I will not speculate on how you choose to define and interpret "new" anymore than you should speculate on what the devs intended by using "new" in this context. Fair enough? For now, your disappointment is noted in how this particular was developed and implemented. As stated before, there's always going to be some subset of the playerbase unhappy with whatever they've done.
