Jem'Hadar

waffels1waffels1 Member Posts: 34 Arc User
Soo, recently I made a Jem'Hadar and got him to lvl 65. My question is this, are the default weapons/gear the character top level or is there better gear out there?

Also, as far as ships go, whats a good combat ship or is it all personal preference? I'm leaning towards the dreadnaught carrier but wanna be sure that's ok before I start spending Zen.

I should also add that I'm a returning player. it's been years since I last played. Any advice would be much helpful

If I'm remembering right the starter bug comes fully loaded with mk12 gear. Decent, not great but decent though that cannon & beam mix is somewhat awkward.
Top mk is now 15 and you're only getting that through upgarding your mk12 stuff, the game is very doable with all mk12 but on advanced TFOs you'll feel the difference. Episodes & patrols are will still mostly be a more like walk in the park.

As for how to get gear, later mission rewards got some really good sets, same goes for the rep system. Fleet holdings have some outstanding stuff if you're in a fleet and it's got it's holdings built up enough.

The ship issue is mostly a matter of taste & playstyle, if you like the ship's design and it's stats then go for it.
The Vanguard ships can be unlocked for all your factions if you grind each ships mastery to T6, takes a while but totally worth it. Pretty much the same goes for buying the big packs as you save some serious zen in some cases, wait for a sale though.

If you like Polaron for lore or the purple beams, you can craft some Mark II VR with the PEN mod using common white mats. If you have no R&D skills ask a friend or fleetmate, or buy them on the exchange. You want Mark II because then you get an extra 10 cheap chances for them to go to Ultra Rare and Epic.

For bonus points, use Omega Tech Upgrades from the event to level up those Mark II beams, for 4x the quality improvement chance.

I like the Dread Carrier, it's a fun ship to fly with the pets + wingmen.

I agree with Dave, the Dread Carrier is lots of fun to fly on my J-H. The two extra wingmen are great.

Of course, it's a slow-turner, but there's things you can do to improve that.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

Seems like all rewards are MK12, when will I start seeing upgrades?

You can grind out some Omega Tech Upgrades if you are on PC.

On console you could buy some Superior Tech Upgrades from the Exchange. Don't use the green or blue upgrades they waste much more dil per tech point.

Also, like I said it's better to start with Mk II VR for the cheap chances to go Epic, and with PEN mod (if you want it) since you can't get that mod from re-engineering.
