Not sure if it was just a bad run as I have not done many this year but it seems worse for us, it was only round 4 when the Maru suddenly turned and did a suicide run into a battlegroup. It was down to 10% before we even had chance to respond. This is just so much worse than the original version.
At least the original had decent tactics, strategy and skill involved and worked with a wide variety of play styles and build options. This one feels like its try and chase after a suicidal ship that is badly damaged, lost all power but somehow stays extremely agile and fast. It wouldn't be so bad if the ship wasn't so suicidal and I could track it. I lost track of it again last night.
I did not get any rewards, because one enemy ship spawned INSIDE an asteroid and could not be killed - the mission stuck on round 3 the whole time (it was timed mission) - so: around 20 minutes of PVE + 30 minutes of cooldown (unless I try on other toon) - wasted, because of stupid bug.
Why enemies stuck in objects can not be harmed, but they can shoot on players - and damage us?
It is verry difficult to harm an enemy inside of an object, BDTD way too many times than i can count. The worst thing i dont even know how to explain whats wrong to service cause i can run a mission one week and it works and the next week they get stuck. theres no tracking why they get stuck. I have had this happen more ground than space but i have had it happen in space.
I'm more angry, that the suck enemy can shot (and even kill me), but I can't even target it most of the time, and don't even get me going about killing one like stuck like that!
Edit:
And last time I checked there was some punishment for abandoning a Queue... lucky me it was not an untimed one...
If you hit a round with the off map bombardment thing happening and the maru has decided not to move anywhere it's pretty much game over given how few things are actually effective for getting its health back up.
Effects like that would ideally not be put into the first 3 waves to give folk a decent chance of not being shafted by lazy design.
Only thing that bothers me is the healing reduction on the Maru. I kinda understand why they did it... but on the other hand, it seems like you’re starting off the queue with a 50% reduction to healing effectiveness. The reduction continues to grow throughout the mission to the point where heals are almost useless. The protomatter console is really the only consistently effective way to heal the Maru. Somehow I don’t think removing the healing reduction would make it impossible for the Maru to die given how much spam and damage some enemies do. However it would make playing as a full healer just that much more useful and I think encouraging non-damage builds is important.

Well...if the tzen and terrans spawn, the kinetic bug seems to be on this map as well. So...there is that. Basically, you get tzen with the bug active and your run is over.
That might explain my last run which I am still a little unclear about what happened. It was going ok and I was just thinking this is a nice change the Menu is not doing any suicide runs this time. I killed the last red NPC at the end of the round and seconds later before the new round spawned the Maru went from around 95% to 0% in a matter of seconds and we lost. The more I play this version the more I wish we had the original one back.

small tip: if everyone on the team has Hazard emitters and keeps spamming it on the Maru things get a lot easier. Yes, there are other options available, but that one is something you can mount on literally every ship in the game. So even if your ship isn't built for team support, you can do at least something to keep it alive.
Yeah all the heals in the world can't make up for the suicidal nature of the Maru. Used a grav well. Ships got dragged in and shot down. Maru drives directly into the middle of 10 hull breaches. 100 to 0% in one second.

In the speed rounds most of the time I cannot even track it with my eyes as its moving so fast and by the time I have spotted it the ship is either dead or dead by the time I have turned my ship to face it and move. I have not figured out how to deal with that yet in my build and not seen anyone explain it.
Make sure you pin the koba ship at the start then you can see the distance to the ship all the time. Just rapid swing the camera around and it will be easy to spot.
Yeah. I am currently flying a vesta with a semi damage/semi healer setup and its not always easy to keep the Maru from blowing up too early.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Thank you, that makes a massive difference. Never even know there was a pin feature. Then again my build doesn't use the targeting feature so I never really looked at it closely. Is there a short cut key to select the pin target in the same way you can F1,F2 to heal friendly team mates?
Well, in a way, this is a difficult test of character:
See how patient you are babysitting a crew of lying, overly-confident idiots again and again before quitting or attempting to trick the simulation into making it targetable for you.
This! God I'd love to be able to target the Leeyroy Jenkins and put it out of everyone's misery myself.
I don't know what happened, but either it's harder than last time, or too many bad people are playing (myself included).
Every PUG I'm in fails at the 3rd round about 50% of the time.
Please, please, please remove that cooldown.
For accounts with only one character that can play this, this means hours spent in a day trying to play it.
Even at max aux, I can't heal it for more than 1% of its health.
Just did the tfo for this event and i have not received an weekend voucher but the timer did reset and i am now unable to do it again so how do i get hold of that voucher now? Overflow did not get activated and waiting for the voucher did not work either. I now should have 2 of these vouchers as i now have done the weekend tfo 2 times but only have 1 voucher and no where to get the second one...
*EDIT* After asking around in multiple fleet channels i discovered the problem, we did not even pass round 2 and by that it destroyed the voucher.

I noticed something similar going on with Mirror Invasion last time on heals to Vahul Station.
I don't quite understand what is happening with that. Heals used to be more effective for me.

We need a Kobayashi Maru Admiralty card, if not a T1 cargo ship
or for a Miranda skin.
Very true!
"By the Starship of Miranda, I shall avenge you Kobayashi Maru!"
And, the original, intended look for the Miranda was going to be similar to that, for the engine pods were going to be on the top, with the rollbar on the bottom. Probert designed the TMP engine pods to be connected to the ships via the bottom of the pods.
I got a video from Timberwolf Productions on the Prolonged Engagement Torpedo...reward from this event. These are tests and results at both the "budget" and "high end".
I try to stay near it, healing it's hull and shields. And what does it do? Park right in front of mouth of the Doomsday weapon. Needless to say I was very dead very quickly. When my wife hears me ranting about the suicidal lemming, her response is "the Maru is back, isn't it?"
T6 Vesta and the whole T6 multi-mission console set, the reduced cooldown from two minutes to one from the set bonus helps on keeping that kamikaze pest alive with the protomatter console.
I find that to be a nice way to get to higher rounds

I am not sure if this console's ability would do anything for Kobayashi Maru...is it considered on your "team"???
I don't think it affects the Maru - I tried using it during one of the days this time around and it didn't seem to change anything when it came to the rate of hull loss.
