"The first ship to come out of the New Romulus shipyards was the Ar'kif Tactical Carrier Warbird..." Quote from C-Store description of the Ar'Kif Tactical Carrier Warbird Retrofit

The mission "Taris" has us chasing after a rogue imperial Romulan named Taris and her Imperial Reman supporters, which lends that they are NOT in any way allied with D'Tan and the Republic at all. Quite the opposite, she's trying to unseat Sela and wants to be the Praetor of the Romulan Star Empire. So when we are in that mission and her general, Arranhu shows up in an Ar'kif then it goes against the developers own developed canon of the ship. The Republic is stated to be using repurposed Star Empire ships, which makes sense all things considered, but the Star Empire isn't stealing Republic ships. I know it's a small thing, but it bugs the TRIBBLE out of me to see something so obviously wrong in a well developed game storyline. A minor change in the mission is needed, to put Arranhu in a more fitting ship for his role in the story. A Mogai, T'Varro, D'deridex, literally any ship besides an ar'kif or any T6 ship.

Or they could have stolen the ship or even more like the Tal-Shiar would do, steal the design.

Which says absolutely nothing about whether the Empire had them.

My Liberated Borg Romulan is flying a stolen Tal Shiar ship. The Tal Shiar did not (willingly) give any of their ships to D'Tan.

I'm fine with the developers changing the ship it's just way waaay down far below the list of anything I care about.

Really? REALLY? The first ship to come out of the shipyards kind of signifies its a New Romulus design. Plus, it doesn't have an IRW prefix meaning the empire never had it.

The Empire remnants could have done a smash and grab at the shipyards, or forced the crew of one to surrender without scuttling it.

Ever watch Star Trek IV ? Kirk is commanding a Klingon ship. Ever watch Star Trek II? Khan is commanding a Federation ship.

ugh ur all looking at this from the wrong angle. TARIS ISN'T TAL SHIAR she's a hunted criminal of the Romulan Star Empire, Starfleet, and the Romulan Republic. They can't do a smash and grab, not enough forces to take on the Republic. And if the Tal Shiar raided the New Romulus shipyards, those ships would be under the control of the Star Empire - Sela. Kirk and Kahn were exceptional people not everyone is like them.

I'm not sure why you believe this.. why would the Star Empire not capture and re-purpose defeated ships? They can't be much for resources in their current state, I doubt they have the capacity to build ship yards and develop their own ships.. at least not in mass.

Again, a lot of assumption here. To capture a starship, you don't have to raid a starbase. Ships usually patrol space alone.. you defeat one in combat and capture it.

They don't actually say outright that the Ar'Kif in this mission is a stolen ship.. but honestly, it doesn't seem implausible at all to me. In fact, it makes far more sense to me at that point in the story line that outlying criminal groups rely on stolen technology as opposed to constructing ship yards and building their own ships.
    Insert witty signature line here.

I wouldn't call STO's story line "well developed." Sure it's an older game now and there's A LOT of story so maybe that's what you mean. Besides that, yeah, there are certain self-contained parts that are well done. On the whole, it's a convoluted mess that only gets more convoluted and incoherent every time there's a revamp or new story arc introduced.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

No, it just means the first ship built there.
