I like the escape pod part of the mission. Killing Klingons gets ya nowhere during that part, anyways.
Grabbing the escape pods seems to be the only thing giving out points!

I can not figure out the first part of the mission.
What am I supposed to do with the U.S.S. Shenzhou...what is that ship doing, anyways?

I know the last part is kill 60 Klingon ships.

I have NFI what that woman is thinking, but she seems to just want to wander around aimlessly at 1/4 impulse occasionally taking pee shooter shots at Klingons. However it's your job to protect her little ship, so that's what you do for 2 mins.

Best fun of all is if you have one or 2 Sci captains with good Grav Wells - You can wipe out entire Klingon spawns in seconds by creating a couple of ship "furballs" and letting the WCB's do all the work for you

That's correct. Prior to Discovery, the designation "D7" was used on screen once in DS9 and once in Voyager, and they referred to different ships.

well...okay. I'll go with that, it definitely puts down like a crippled dog the use of previous canon, since the canon's not consistent and I'm fine with judging shows based on their OWN merits, rather than using the flaws of previous shows as defense for the flaws of current shows if you guys are.

In all honesty I think that this sort of blooper just happened because they were trying too enthusiastically to satisfy the special needs of audience like you. The rest does not care.

In the next season they will try even harder, think a more adequate d7 was already seen in the trailer, just to earn more disappointment from you. Fortunately the rest will still not care. ;)

Using Grav Well 3 in this mission is almost obscene, I find I can easily suck up the entire map minus a few flank ships and then vape them with gravimetric or neutronic torp spreads; creates a ball of fire brighter than the stars in the background lol.

Makes the mission fly past once you get two science vessel in there causing that much mayhem! :D

Played a run yesterday where someone was using a pretty nice 'Megawell' build and it was hysterical. He just kept throwing it down around the middle of the map and it pulled enemies even from the furthest edges. It was great in the 'escape pod' phase because the enemies would spawn on top of the pods and then just go flying off the edge of my screen.

Megawells are great in this map, I was running an Arbiter with Dual Cannons/Heavy Cannons.. I just parked and fired Scatter Volleys at the Gravity wells.

Was it something from the TV show??? Perhaps??? I will see if I can find a clip of this Battle of the Binary Stars on You Tube.

I cooked the turkey yesterday, as it was already defrosted. So, I actually have a bit of a reprieve from chores today!

Could have easily been me doing that, I target the ship closest to the middle and with a 24km wide GW3 you can take pretty much everything on the map in one go. Makes the escape pod part a piece of cake.

Only issue I've found with the tactic is that some of the NPC ships use TBR and mess up the effect of GW, but nothing can be done about that.

Yeah, the bottom line is that there's a minority part of the fanbase that likes to rant about inconsistencies when the producers don't care and most fans don't notice.

Well I noticed right away that some of the Stardates in a Discovery Episode were later than those in 'Where No Man Has Gone Before'.

Point of order, they definitely weren't trying to satisfy people like ME. If they were trying to do that, they would've spent more time working on writing good stories and less on trying to drag in nostalgia notes, special effects artists, and hyping connections to nonexistent continuities and more time building an internally consistent setting with characters that are relatable and villains that are actually interesting and complex rather than a stack of nostalgia-addict stereotypes wrapped in an HR Giger inspired latex wrapper.

you know, spending time building their setting and characterizations instead of trying to 'jazz it up' with poorly placed and poorly timed references to better shows.

It was not my intention to start a discussion but only to remind you that not many peeps seem to share your pain. There is more Discovery coming up, there are more shows from the peeps that gave us Discovery coming up. It’s set in stone, the audience will like it so more and more will be released and you will hate it. I'm sorry for you but happy for everybody else.

It's also interesting to fly Pilot Escorts in this mission, because then you get to see pilot maneuvers and ships that normally can't do them.

Some animations do not exist then. Obviously, anything that directly changes positions of ship components on the original Pilot ship doesn't happen, but the thrust/exhaust animations still partially play.
For example, the reverse thrust pilot maneuver does not show any reverse thrusters (presumably because most ship models simply don't have a spot for them), but the regular impulse engines fire when the break in the animation happens. The side-ways movements still through thrusters, though it seems unclear where on the ship these happen. (I wonder if that is a hardpoint for another animation that is used to position them, and which one.)

I suspect the devs didn't carefully design the new ships to have all these animations built in, but instead, their animation system is robust enough to handle this. Pretty neat.

ah, tis true, tis true. (and why my current leveling toon is so happy when some Tacticals show up with their BFAW boats to mop up the mess she's swept up into a nice ball for them...)

Been using this set on my Reman Sci for the last few days:
    https://sto.gamepedia.com/Allied_Dogfighters_Set

It's just annoying to kill stuff without getting any XP, otherwise this would be a nice spot for mastery grinding, so playing with GW and Gateways makes the medicine go down a little easier.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

It can only be used on the Andorian, lethian and Dewan escorts so the setup doesn't allow for megawell builds, but it is a nice CC build on a pilot vessel.

I'm starting to wonder if this will be the new model for TFO's.

Not a lot of XP and no loot dropping, except the occasional lockbox. No loot from this or Starbase One.

I hope not, no loot makes TFO's garbage.
There's a reason that CCA and HSE are my favorites, and its not for parsing.

HSE shines in providing a crapload of loot for salvage and vendoring.
CCA shines in being the only TFO that gives you a shot at loot with some actual value, some consoles fetching between 1-2 million on the exchange.

Game needs more loot, not less.

I don't mind the battle of the binary stars being easy for easy marks until December 6. Makes getting marks for the reps easy. Maybe after December 6 if cryptic wants to make the TFO a advance or elite form of it, I would play it. Considering the rest of the TFO's are dead.

I have yet to collect any escape pods, as far as I can tell; most every time the meter runs down, I get a "rescue failed" message in the middle of the screen. Most runs I've been in, there are scads of KDF ships swarming the doomed ships, so I'm shooting all the time the meter is running. In several other TFO's the meter won't even run if I'm being shot at, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...
