This event is ok but with all the NPC's included in this map I feel kinda cheated that there's very little Experience Points to earn for Starship Masteries or Specialisation Points to put towards the Spec trees. Why are Cryptic being so gawd dam tight with recent TFO's releases.

Hello rubber banding my old friend, time to bounce around the battlezone again, where are all my bug reports going?, out of love with this game I am falling, As Cryptic fail to acknowledge a problem exists, Shakes an angry fist, And from Support all I'm hearing are the sounds of silence.

Quality of Life Improvements: TFO Mission Briefing and cut scene skip

So playing the TFO "The Battle at the Binary Stars" across multiple characters. The first time was like cool, but after my now 40th play though of the past week. There need to be an option where if everyone agrees, (ether by clicking on the close window or a new “ready to go button” just jump to the gameplay. This should be easy enough to implement. The interruptions in gameplay are more annoying than anything after the first dozen time playing. We get you are typing to tell a story, but if all the players in the match say "skip", just skip to the gameplay already.

And this goes for all TFOs and Missions

It's got nothing to do with NPCs per se. Alsmost all the TFs have it designed where you'll just not get XP for destroying a ship, as Cryptic knows some folks will find ways to farm it in a manner Cryptic doesn't want.

I can't find the Blog with the exact date this Event ends....I got the 10 Tokens with Zen but.....

I have to get to the grocery, tomorrow, but that doesn't matter because they are doing maintenance. Wednesday I go pick up the turkey....special ordered. Thursday, it is Thanksgiving, I can forget getting on STO then.

How many days are left for this event AFTER Thanksgiving?

Every time I hear T'Kuvma's speech at the end of the STF, I replay this quote from an actually good villain:

"You are in a position to demand NOTHING. I, on the other hand, am in a position to GRANT nothing."

I mean, come on, I know it's supposed to follow the events, but his fleet is always getting TRASHED. BADLY! The optional objectives are even here to humiliate him even further.

It's pretty comical, I'd say. As comical as having my gigantic Valkis turned into a sluggish tiny DSC Miranda. XD

OK..so, I did this Battle again tonight...I am sort of getting it. But it is still crazy in there....and I barely see anything going on. LOL!

(Video game part of this game is not my forte....that is for sure.)

But this time I had a list of tips before I went in....these really helped....

If you have more to add, please do:

Part 1...nothing I can really do, it is timed, so just shoot at Klingons. So, I just shot at Klingons and played with some new Engineering BOFF buttons. IF the U.S.S Shenzhou is supposed to be doing something...I can't tell what it is.

(This character is in a T-5 Vor'Cha Battlecruiser, now...used to be in BoP. I am more used flying the BoP. Yeah, I was checking out the T-5 Vor'Cha on this character, and I, inadvertently opened the Zen pack of 10 Event tokens on her. Turning is culture shock! Need more practice. LOL! It is even weirder because I can't see the ship I am actually IN because it is some Fed ship. LOL!)

Part 2, after the FREEZE (which is weird, I was frozen sideways in a turn)....collect as many Escape Pods as possible. I was told, there is no interruptions by the surrounding battles while doing this. I assumed that meant: no point in engaging in an exchange of fire because we need to get as many pods as possible!! ?????? So, most of that round, I just waited for the F key prompt and kept heals going, when needed.

Part 3, after the movie....Kill 60 Klingons. It is a free for all. Again. I was told to try to kill BoP since they have less hit points/go down faster. I tried looking for big ships other people were shooting at, too.

Then, I got my prize package. Two more to 14 tokens.

I guess, since I concentrated on the collecting Escape Pod part in the middle, it didn't seem as bad as the first time. It is still a zoo. Maybe I should try to stay on the outer edges. LOL!

Well, since I have a problem seeing everything going on from every different direction....I was thinking out on the edges where the fighting would be from one side. ???

For the sake of clarity I'll refer to the spawn point as "front". fighting on the side or back means aggroing enemies that might not get in firing range of the mission objectives in phases 1 and 2. Also it means you're more likely to be alone.

Stage 1 - Shooting ships gives no drops nor xp so follow the shenzou, when its getting pinged, heal it and keep doing so -maybe do some A-S-SIng in between heal activations

Stage 2 - Again you get nothing so activate the trait sphere o' shield heal and grab the pods while tanking - once one side is done, head over to the other and repeat..try not to fall asleep.

Stage 3 - After Klingon Troi crashes the Cleave, its party time - xp now works and drops so go wild and murder all before you. Knocking out the Sarc helps but aim at killable ships -once 60 ships die, you are done

Get loot, get token and go do something more rewarding without timegates.

Emani likes feeding him HY plasma torp volleys because it incapacitates him. Oh and I also feed plasma to, well, everything that moves to be honest. Also I love spamming Tyken's rift. Emani is setup so that her Tyken's also does electrical and proton damage to enemies in addition to the power drain.

I usually try to ignore the flying coffin, but the flying coffin has a tendency to follow me around on that map.
Granted, my characters cheat dead on numerous occasions but is that really a reason to keep following me with a coffin?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I use the sarcophagus as the focal point for my grav wells, if the buggers going to sit there shooting me it might as well do something useful.

That said I do tend to fly around and in from the side for the first section so as to only aggro half the spawns and also be parked up by the clark or yaeger for phase 2. In case folk haven't noticed they stop moving around an audio clip about engines trouble, that point is pretty much where the pods will be whether or not the ship decides to wander away.

Sad but there's no randomness about any of it. Ships always spawn (not decloak) in the same spots, pods are always at a or b and the cutscene always moves you back to the initial spawn.

THAT is what Stage 1 is???? Follow the U.S.S. Shenzhou around healing it?

    ++++++++++++

I took some time today and watched the "Battle of Binary Stars" clip on You Tube.

Yes, the U.S.S. Shenzhou did defend the U.S.S. T'Plana-Hath from the Klingon attackers.
But by that time in the battle...it looked like the Starfleet allies were being decimated by the Klingons.
No one was there to support the Shenzhou until the Admiral arrived with the Calvary. ????

Well, the clip ended when the Sarcophagus crashes the Admiral's ship.
I think that was the end of that.

So, supporting the Shenzhou is probably not the ideal, uh, tactic? But it is for this TFO???

The whole setup for the TFO is something of a joke.

Although after a perusal of youtube clips not quite as amusing as the ensign being asked for a damage report only to have his console blow up in his face.

A holosim to analyze what happened during the fight and yet its a cakewalk because the ships and abilities are beyond the capabilities of the tech from back then.

Well, the clip ended when the Sarcophagus crashes the Admiral's ship.

It is not the Sarcophagus, but a different ship, clearly visible from the footage. STO calls it a Cleave battleship.

I suppose if the TFO was available on Elite, it might make sense to try and protect the Shenzou. Fewer, tougher enemies with lots of actual teeth, that would be fun.

Oh? How many of the Klingon ships had cloak? I thought it was the special one T'Kumva was in...and that was the Sarcophagus.

But it has been a while since I watched the show, and details escape me, more and more with age...and was not thrilled by Discovery, so wasn't paying that close attention to it, on top. I am more thrilled for Orville coming back at the end of December....not the new season of Discovery.

T'Kuvma apparantly had more than one ship already equipped with cloak, but the Klingons in general still didn't have it yet. The use of the Cleave ship was apparently also to show the other houses that he had this tech. (Especially since they weren't there for his ship to decloak, the rest of the Klingons came later. So both the Federation and the Klingons in the battle had plenty of time to scan the area and never detect that ship, until it finally decloaks.)

Later, when Kol takes over the Sarcophagus, he uses the offer of cloaking technology to get the other houses to swear loyalty to him.

Nah, it's more generic and better phrased as "keep Shenzhou from dying". Heal it, vape whatever's attacking it, you have options.

Also: someone mentioned this in char yesterday and I'm not 100% sure it's true, but it seems like it might be. I'd noticed several runs where we picked up all the escape pods we could interact with but that phase ended without us getting all of them. In this run one of the other guys mention that he thought that the pods could take damage from Klingon ships, and that warp core breaches could kill the escape pods.

Well...I did this one more time tonight.
Part 1.....I tried to see if U.S.S. Shenzhou needed healing. It did not.
I am not even sure any Klingons got close enough to the ship! ????
So, I just flew around for a bit, firing at whatever.

Part 2....just clicked on Escape Pods, again. Since everyone else was doing very nicely kicking off the Klingons without me. So, thought I should make myself useful. LOL!

Part 3.... OK those gravity well make this pretty much a cake walk. I just had to pick a spot..and just keep up with my buffs.

All I can say is: I am pretty sure I don't like TFOs at all. Thank GOD I only need to do this one more time.

Just my luck, there was something I want to try out shows up in an event, and I buy the Zen token bundle.....and the item turns out to be broken all to hell. So broken, that the Devs are Tweeting NOT TO USE IT. LOL!

One of the more annoying things for me when I tried this out, was the holo look of the ship throws me off for the firing arc of my Vesta with cannons. It turns my ship into a cruiser with a round saucer, which makes getting the ship pointed in the right direction to use my Captain powers to maximize my volleys effect just by looking at the bank of my ship, feel way off.

@where2rl - On your screen, on the right side is the health status of the Shenzhou. What I usually do is stay near enough to the Shenzou that I can heal it if it needs it. Other than that I tend to view my role in this stage as backup. I tend to stay close to the Shenzhou fighting the Klingons near by her to keep her from getting "overwhelmed".

In the second part the Holodeck will "freeze" to tell you about the lifeboats. At this point I tend to normally concentrate on rescuing the lifeboats and just fire enough potshots at the Klingons to try land keep their numbers in the area down, or you could just concentrate on your ships health and rescue the lifeboats.

When all the lifeboats are picked up, you will have the cut scene where the Klingon cleave ship will ram the admirals ship. At this time, move to the side to keep try and keep the Klingons in your forward arc as much as possible, and let the fast and more nimble ships do the dog fighting.

It sounds to me like you may be having trouble seeing the action that is going on when "the fog of war reigns upon the battlefield". Is there a problem to much action to be displayed properly on your PC? Is the action slowing down? Too much glare or brightness going on to really see the over all battle? Because some of this might be due to the brightness and alpha settings on your display. If you are physically having problems seeing the battle because everything going on is overwhelming your display, or your game settings/hardware then that is a different problem. This is one of the most "busy" battles in the game.
