Where should I start? I want to continue off with my max leveled character and re-familarize myself and then max level him again.
I am a life-long startrek fan, enjoy the story more then anything else.
I'd start a new character and do the story again from scratch as episodes have changed, been moved and added so its the easiest way of catching up. While you do that get your 50 toon to start on the reps to get them building ready for your new toon as it gets there.
I would leave your preexisting characters intact and start new. It will give you the best starting point to learn about how the game works now and all the things that have changed. Maybe even start a Jem'Hadar since you at least won't have to worry much about hardcore grinding to the max level.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
I agree with starting a new toon just to re-familiarize yourself.
If you never did a Romulan, I'd do that. Different ships w/ different mechanics to do.
If you did do a Romulan before, maybe a TOS toon?
Jem'hadar start at 60, so you'd be at max level in no time. If grinding a lot isn't what you want to do. And you get to start out in a T5 bug ship.
Take your time, enjoy the game.. re-familiarize yourself with everything and enjoy. Just remember, there is no need to race, take the time to enjoy the progression and you'll learn on the way.
So much has changed in 5 years it's just too much to explain in a thread. At this point, it's a whole new game for you.. but the bright side is that in most ways it's a lot better.
Take some time to enjoy it. You're only 'new' once.. or in your case.. twice.
set course to kerrat system, close of drozana station,
great place to farm xp and gears, best place to have fun.
Or...avoid the cesspool that is PvP these days and make a new toon like everyone else says. I recommend romulan myself...and not only because they are my favored faction. They do have some mechanically very powerful ships only available to them.
They also have the hands down best introduction mission in the game.

Do this.. make a Romulan.. they're great!
And the most amount of unique missions, by a country mile.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
So I decided to just keep leveling up.. only level 59 did not realize its not up to what 65 or 70 for levels. Also just realized that we could make a TOS toon. Not sure how that will work so that's my new toon.. made him an Andorian. I will see how leveling my main (liberated borg) goes up to max level. So far the game seems great. I am concerned though that the focus going forward is just discovery content.. not sure how that will hurt progression.. etc..
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
And btw, when you left 5yrs ago, I called dibs on all your stuff. You failed to give it to me then. I've been counting the interest! You are now up to 1000000000000000000000000000 EC in extra debt.

This was a reply i made earlier to someone asking what had changed during the last 3 years so it may be a good place to start.
