Ive never understood this:
Way back when the battle of Wolf 359 happened, that was one cube right? One cube destroyed that whole fleet right at the doorstep to Earth?
There are thousands... THOUSANDS of cubes. Hundreds of thousands of cubes, maybe millions. What the hell is stopping them from opening a transwarp conduit to earth and pouring through a few thousand cubes? Or did they somehow forget where Earth is? Or forget how to build that type of cube?
BIG plot hole Ive never understood
I asked it in General but this is a better place for the question
First off Pichard was a major deal in what happened. Pichard understood all the tactics of the federation, weapons ect. Also this was the first accurance, other then the episode from Enterprise that the federation met the borg face to face in battle. Borg at the time, and like always are a little abit ahead in technology aspects. But overall I think it came down to Pichard.
As you seen later like in first contact ect, the borg were always stopped. The federation in away adapted to the borg and made technology to fight against them. Which made them very resiliant. But I always woundered the same why dont the borg just take every single borg cube, tactical cube have and assimilate earth ect. But again the borg are fighting countless species, espeically species 8472.
And finally....if they did there would be no show :P
There is also the fact that the Borg seem to cause everyone they meet seem to want to fight them, and even with the numbers they have it would be hard to take out Earth and keep it without loosing other points.
Bare in mind Species 8472/Undine, who seem to wipe out a cube with one small ship. Do we actually know how long they have been a threat?
lol no show
however... Picard's distinction and... was added to their own, but they did a memory wipe when he was removed? lol
Well, when worf and data not sure if anyone else beamed over in best of both worlds episode...been awile since i seen it lol. But They basically did a commando manouver and took "Locutus/Pichard" from the borg and then took him back to the ship. The connection between pichard and the borg was "terminated" in aspects but I always pondered because he always seems to have some sort of connection with the borg, in some mysertious way lol. He new what the borg wanted ect, understood everything after his experience with the borg, also their vulnerabilities like in the scene from First Contact, where if you see Pichard takes command of the fleet and orders all ships to fire on certain quardants on the ship and within seconds BOOM cube no more. So as fo a memory wipe, there was never a "wipe" just a disconection from the collective mind of the borg. Borg contained all of pichards older thoughts while Pichard kept what he learned from the borg. But seeing he was disconected they never learned more about weapons ect from the federation and attemps from the borg later resulted in loss.
There is also the fact that the Borg seem to cause everyone they meet seem to want to fight them, and even with the numbers they have it would be hard to take out Earth and keep it without loosing other points.

exactly and well said. The borg may have millions of ships but they in some ways calculate on a certain level. If the borg did make some sort of huge scale attack in the alpha quadrant...it would most likely lead to a few factional alliances between the feds, roms, klingons ect and all would combine to fight for the "greater good" and the borgs attack would lead in falure leaving them open to other assaults from countless species they have aggrevated lol.
Picard didn't have a mind wipe, but trauma does give a reason for amnisia.
He has several flash backs to when he was assimulated. And the Borg Queen had a thing for him and seems to be after him in First Contact still.
He still has the implants and it's been a repeat case that no matter implant you have it can give a connection to the hive mind.
Okay, this may hurt your heads, but the truth is The Borg simply said 'why bother'. you see it all comes down to the first thing they said "we are the Borg, your biological and technical distinctiveness will be assimilated", which was accomplished after Wolf 359. they had the federation's tech (analysis of captured ships), a sampling of the people (again those captured, possibly sent back on a sub craft)). so why bother expending resources for one small plant?
also did any one else find it creepy that they also added the line "you will service us." given what that can be a reference about.
[Mod Hat] Wow, that's an epic necro. @karistasogare#3038, if all the posters are "System" and "Archived Post", it's probably too old to post in (our cutoff is thirty days for most subjects). But if you want to talk about this, you can make a new thread. [/Mod Hat]
