besides the standard Omni beam weapon of X type, is there a list of the "special" omni beam weapons?

As for a complete list in a convenient format, not as far as I know.

If you want to compile your own and/or edit the STO Gamepedia Wiki's energy weapon list, searching for omni on the wiki would be a good place to start, though certain other things like consoles end up in the search too.

Not entirely complete, I believes there's a new Omni Beam coming with Gamma Rep, but; https://sto.gamepedia.com/Omni-Directional_Beam_Array

I wish there was a spiral wave omni.

Yeah, the rep has a inhibiting polaron (chance to knock engines offline for 4 secs) omni-beam and turret.

Can anyone remind me of the rules of what works together? I know the lockbox omnis fall into the same category as the crafted ones but I'm not sure about the rep omnis.

One crafted, and one from a set(reputation OR episodic).

Thanks, now I don't have to replay Time and Tide for my pol builds.

One from mission reward (only 2 i think) one from crafted or lock box and last from rep, I know because one character has 3 on his ship

There's no way to mount three onto a ship at the same time, unless you count the Kinetic Cutting Beam as one. But though it's a 360 weapon, it doesn't benefit from boff boost abilities.
  • spy8446spy8446 Member Posts: 585 Arc User
yes counting the cutting beam, it is 360 so ...... yeah
until we get another rep 360 weapon, wont know for sure.

I really wish they would up it to 3 Omni's, as it is right now, only the anti-protons get three .

What I mean by that, is with the Borg Omni, crafted, and say that Solanae Omni.

Sure other weapon types could use the borg one, but it would be off putting when it comes to energy type.

Tetryon has an mission omni (butterfly) as does phaser (nexus) disruptor (son'a lockbox promo mission) the antiproton you mentioned and with the new rep polaron gets a second omni to choose from instead of the one from time and tide.

Plasma should really have been given an omni before a second appeared for one of the other damage types.

And yes there will be folk who will say lockbox weapon crates drop them BUT the drop rate is stupidly low so not worth counting them as a viable option. Also the current weapon crates are putting out MK11 gear for a level 65 making them even less attractive.

That is true. No doubt about it. I just wish I could load up three in total. Tried it with a tetryon build a few months ago, but two was the max.

With Anti-protons, one of my Tacs has three on his little escort ships.

The only time three AP omnis was possible was due to a bug that let you equip an upgraded ancient, a "vanilla" one and a crafted at the same time. That has been fixed so the only energy type that's behind on numbers is plasma.

Any ship can use the borg cutting beam because it might be 360 but its not an energy weapon omni, better to leave it to one side when discussing proper omni beams.

there is a disruptor from a box that has 360? name please?

On that note, I think that we should have the ability to craft the different versions/factions of weapons.
just as an example, the Plasma Disruptor hybrid, coalition, Cardasian phasers (spiral?) and so on.

would make crafting more useful I think

Discovery and as you can probably guess it is extremely rare and expensive

The mission that was a promo for the son'a lockbox has a disruptor omni, much easier to get that than to chase after one that's buried in a gamble box.

    Unfortunately, you will, because:

this is incorrect. Episode rewards are their own category, but every other kind of Omni weapon, save for the KCB, is one category, and thus mutually-exclusive. Just tried it with a crafted and a lockbox reward Omni to be certain, and it didn't work.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

my Rom character that uses Plasma has the cutting beam, only now starting to get into the Omega assimilated ship parts to finish the job. he has the 3 Omni weapons, first target dies rather quickly most of the time.

Kinetic Cutting Beam, despite its name, isn't really a beam -- the devs have explained this several times.

Or you can just grab the Disruptor Omni from the Martok set.

KCB is basically a cutting laser.
  • postagepaidpostagepaid Member Posts: 2,899 Arc User
Closer to a water jet because its physical damage, although obviously water jets wouldn't work from 10km in the vacuum of space.

Lorewise it's a laser (it was called that in the first TV-series episode it was used IIRC), I assume it's kinetic instead of thermal or AP(that is considered the "we don't have energy type for this" type) for game balance reasons.

That said it's not 100% useless even though it doesn't work with boff abilities as when combinied with the Omega rep console it gives a nice buff to your weapons (all of them) thanks to the 2 piece set bonus.

I have a question in regards to getting Zefram Cochrane shotgun.
I can buy 10 Phoenix loot boxes for 40,000 dilithium and I’m wondering if I should take the leap. However when I go to ds9 etc to look what I can purchase with my ticket it doesn’t show the shotgun anywhere on the list.

Disruptor also has the martok one, plasma has the isolytic (a yellowish one) and Anti-Proton has the ancient.

Closer to a proton stream, rather (real protons, not what we have in-game).

The the problem with the isolytic omni is that it falls into the same category as the crafted beam so you're still only on 1 per ship.

I tend to ignore the omni's that are buried under the gamble box chance of a chance system because the odds of getting one are stupidly low from a box that's also a random chance to drop.

And I did mention the martok one, just referred to it as the son'a promo mission because we've only seen them in that one episode that just happened to coincide with that particular gamblebox.

Yes I'm a cynical git when it comes to things like that.

There's a Polaron Omni available from the "Tide and Tide" episode. The shield penetration buff proc on it may or may not make it a keeper once I have enough rep to obtain the Inhibiting Polaron Omni from Gamma rep. I haven't decided yet. Since it's any easy quest reward to obtain, it's certainly good enough to equip alongside the crafted one they gave my Jem'Hadar at character creation while I work on the rep.
