Since the start of the new expansion I have encountered an issue with gaining access to the Sol system : basically I can't.
The launcher crashes every time I attempt to enter Earth orbit from the Beta Quadrant or beam up a test alt from Spacedock. It is affecting the Federation characters on account and yet as far as I can tell it is solely the Sol system I am having the issue with (so far managed to access Deep Space Nine, Drozana Station, K7, Starbase 39, Delta Quadrant Command, Dyson Sphere Command and New Romulus without the launcher crashing). No issues whatsoever with the KDF characters on account going from First City to Qo'noS orbit to Beta Quadrant and back again. I've switched off Lighting 2.0, set the graphics to the lowest setting on the assumption that the issue is my laptop, but to no avail.
Frankly at this point I'm am at a loss to know what to try next. It either has to be my system set up isn't coping with entering the largest social zone in the game (patching prior to launch did reset everything) or it's a unique bug (so unique that I'm the only one affected by it so far - not very likely..but is that possible?). Any suggestions or ideas will be gratefully received.

Right now I'm stumped. I've reduced the graphics settings to it's lowest level, switched off lighting 2.0, cleared the cache, force verified the files more times than I care to admit, uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled again and then reinstalled again, installed and uninstalled and then reinstalled Arc to see if would make a difference, played in Safe Mode and along the way sent about a dozen Starfleet cadets to their deaths in Earth's orbit (I salute you Test Alts 1 through 12. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten! ).... and every single time the launcher still crashes.
The only odd thing I can think that might play a part (and yes, I am grasping at straws) is that since the launch of "Victory is Life" Philip Crey has been hailing my temporal agent (and only my temporal daily to start "The Once and Future Agent" mission, which is far as I can recall was the mission to kickstart the three episodes for non-temporal recruits. I'm wondering if in some way that is creating the issue I am having, so much so that I am considering deep sixing my temporal agent just to see if I finally gain access (tenuous I know but I'm desperate).
Also I’ve found the customer service in this game is very helpful just be nice in your wording in the ticket and they may have a solution for you and every bit of information you can give them would help to , they may even be able to wind back your account or toon and fix it that way just give them some time to do it no doubt there very busy at the moment with the update good luck with everything .
.
Also make sure your graphics drivers are up to date
And you could also try changing your direct x from 12 to 11 or what ever the options are.
And I think in the in game options there’s an option to revert to standard or original settings
Anyway I hope something helps you To get back to playing
I have that with a Klingon character, named Qapla. ;-)
Upon exiting orbit of Q'onos, the game crashes. Always.
@Cryptic : Kindly fix this bug. Thanks.
Best of luck mate.

> From what I can tell, these crashes are being caused by corrupted model data on the client. Force Verify or a reinstall should've corrected this issue. Are you able to try a different computer?
>
> Is it possible your hard drive is damaged or full? Have you tried a disk check?
If the model data is corrupted it would certainly explain why I crash when trying to enter the Sol system (so far it appears to be the only system affected). Would corrupted model data also account for Crey's daily hailing of my Temporal Agent to play a mission (The Once and Future Agent) she should have no access to? Or is that another matter?
I should be able to temporarily install Arc on a relative's computer and try to access Sol later today. Then we'll start to have an idea if the problem is my end or yours. Wonder why I didn't think of that earlier?
Pretty sure my disk isn't full but damaged? Possible I guess. It is a few years old now. Again, I will check that out later today and post a response once I know.
Thanks for the suggestions engineerb4
> yeah and for now, beam down to the academy, and use the beam to sector option, might get you out at least. Can't think of any work around to get in... transwarp to sol system crashes i assume...
Oh for heaven's sake...Transwarp. I've not even thought about trying to Transwarp in! Honestly..give me a braincell and I might be close to being dangerous...
Thanks iamjmph. Will give it a go. Probably won't work but you never know!
> This is a rough one, along with the Cat's recommendations of ensuring everything is in order with your graphic drivers and such, I'd also start an in-game ticket to get Cryptic's immediate attention. I do not believe avoiding ESD is a solution, you have to be able to enjoy everything this game has to offer!

> Best of luck mate.
Absolutely agree - would rather not avoid ESD if I can help it, but at this point I'm not sure if the problem is at my end or Cryptic's. Either way I may have to adapt my method of gameplay on the Fed side until the problem can be rectified.

> You know what you could do is just not go esd ,you can get to all the services on deep space 9 I think ? And if you want to start a new toon it would have to be a Klingon faction and just keep trying once a week after the patch and that way you can keep playing and having fun until it sorts it’s self out or you find out what the problem is.

Good idea about getting services elsewhere within the quadrants..and one that I am already acting upon. My Fed toons are now spread across the Alpha and Beta Quadrants near banking and exchange facilities, awaiting word that the path to Earth is open once more. And yes, I am putting serious thought to any future characters being KDF / Romulan Republic instead of Federation. Time will tell if that happens..
> The daily temporal agent hail is a separate issue, it happens on my personal characters too. Tracking that down is on our todo list.
Okay.. I was grasping at straws that Crey's hail might be playing it's part in some very obscure way...

Ok. Sounds great. Installing the game on to a relative's computer was inconclusive as a slow Internet connection took forever to download, followed by a 19GB patching of the Launcher and wrapped up by a message telling me the game was incompatible with DirectX version 12 (seriously?). Currently testing the Hard disk and so far nothing is flagging up. So more than happy to try the option of deleting and restoring files.
Just one thing.
Can we pretend that my knowledge of the internal workings of the game and tech in general don't go far beyond a basic understanding (also more luck than judgement), that a search by name came up with nothing and if you could point me in the general direction of these files?...
Go to
This pc
Cdrive or the drive you have the game installed on could be c or d
Program files x86
Now yours will be different here but it may give you an idea so
Steam
Steam apps
Common
Startrekonline
Startrekonline
Now you will have to go looking and there’s a heap of files and files in files someone will know a lot more than me but it’s a start
or transwarp, would crash, no matter which toon I choose. Then after restarting the game sol system worked fine
for all toons all day long...after 1-2 months it stopped and hasn't happened since...

I'm back in the Sol system.
A huge thank you and an apology to EngineerB4 for looking into the matter for me from Cryptic's end on what turned out to be an issue my end. Also thanks to everyone who commented (especially Catsupy for the suggestions). And a thanks to Cryptic's Lead Engineer too, whose comment lead me towards a new problem, namely the physical limitation of the hardware. In previous years the CPU has coped with my playing this game and Skyrim Special Edition on Steam really well, despite pushing my luck and the settings to the limits on both. I tested the CPU this morning and it is now clear that is no longer the case.
Time to start saving for an upgrade.
