I ran it for 4 toons for the dil boost. Easy fun mission...lots to do and lots to shoot. What's wrong with that? Isn't that what the game is about at base level??
There isn't a lot to shoot as its a time gate with a limited amount of targets. If you are in a decent group with decent DPS once you have killed and closed a bunch of rifts nothing else spawns and you sit there waiting bored with nothing to do waiting for the timer to hit zero.

The problem is the time gate. Nothing you do has any impact on how long the mission takes making it feel like there is no point in doing anything.

EDIT: Another way to look at it is if we are forced to sit AFK for half the mission watching a timer tick down we may as well sit AFK for the entire mission and get a higher reward while doing so.

Have you actually played the MI since they tweaked the rift spawn?

Going by your edit I'm assuming you've either afk'd or done the fake dc with miraculous reconnect after 13-14 minutes rather than actually seen what happens with them now.

Yes there is a timegate but to say there's nothing to do is simply false.

^He's not wrong. There are now infinite spawns until the dreadnaught appears at the end of the countdown.

Yeah, the rifts spawn until the timer counts down. As another person said it didn't slow down till the end when the Dreadnought appeared and there were only five rifts to close.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

Man, infinite spawns....I really got to get in on this before it is over. I still have pilot raptors to master. LOL!

Time to go play with a new torpedo launcher.

Before the tweak I think 40 rifts was the highest I'd ever seen and then the five minute wait, but I was in an instance last weekend that managed 60. Great teamwork going on, the type of thing I wish happened much more often in a PUG. Those rifts just kept coming and coming right up until the end.

I've adopted a compromise solution: I rightclick -> follow the guy with the most expensive-looking ship and autofire. This puts it up to the team how we play things. That's all most of my ships are good for anyway since I don't have enough money to buy proper boffs or equipment, as I'm not Crosis and I'm not made of money. Some people still aren't happy, but well, those people are never happy.

What??? Armada Leader, YOU are claiming that you are space poor???

You don't happen to fly a d'kora do you? I had one sniffing the bumper of my f2p's vorgon carrier for a good chunk of one run.

Which was fine although they didn't seem to know where the F key was. Couldn't tell if they were trying to be a sneaky afk or not so didn't lead them into death and dismay.

If someone knows, please remind me: is the prize for the Mirror Universe Event account-unlocked once earned, or character-unlocked?

    Thanks.

    Answer ✓
The most recent reward (The agony phaser torpedo) is an account unlock, as for past rewards it gets a bit fuzzy. I don't believe many of them are, the account unlock for Mirror event rewards is fairy new I believe.

    I believe the point is:
No matter what you do, or don't do, you're still in a mind numbing 15 minute wait every day for 2 weeks.
I think if the MI is tweaked (again) to get rid of the timegate, it might actually make the 2 weeks bearable.

One of the core things in STO is killing stuff so surely if you find it mind numbing then the majority of the game is also that way.

Waiting 11 minutes for an autowin timer != killing stuff

Well I finished the big project and hooked up my old Fed tac captain with the phaser torpedo launcher. It's kinda fun to play with and works like the Disruptor, Anti-proton, and plasma variants do. Not sure I like the over hand throw animation it does for the torpedo shots though. Still it works.

They weren't denying that it existed, just asked for evidence.

It really does sound like a bug too. I've never experienced the 'big' ships coming out first either. Three frigates, two frigates and escort/science/cruiser, then the heavy hitter command cruisers.

Perhaps Cryptic could look into it and fix it for next time. We certainly don't need the heavy ones first.

While this is how it's supposed to go, that's not how they are spawning. I sat on a rift last and watched. First spawn, 1 frigate and a escort, another rift, first spawn, 1 frigate and a cruiser. Most spawn normally but there are rifts that spawn random ships it seems. On some rifts the ships never move away and when you arrive there's all 3 spawns sitting there waiting for you.

What you don't normally see early are things like command cruisers. Regular cruisers? yes, but not command cruisers.

I think, it would be much better if Cryptic would change the gameplay like this:
close about 30-40 rifts, the less time your group needs, the more marks you'll get!

  • postagepaidpostagepaid Member Posts: 2,899 Arc User
I've seen occurrences of double spawns from early rifts.

Nothing at the rift and while closing it you get a spawn of 2 cruisers and frigates or everyones favourite the double escort and frigate.

It now over on PC but sadly just begun on console and due to the autofire setup insisting on triggering over and over for 30secs of so after your final target died closing rifts is a small piece of hell.

twice I had to stop closing rifts and go heal the station

I will say this, the spamming of Mirror ships from rifts has been really nice to my ship mastery grinds and salvage collecting. With energy torpedoes those things pop like zits on a teenagers face. My nausican set geared engineers and my AP crystal torp Romulan have been loving the ships going boom.

i've played few days but that is about it. it is another grindathon and i found the need to subscribe on to SWTOR more than tempting after that experience. i wish i were kidding, but the fact is that i didn't really find the event worth my time.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

The phaser damage torpedo launcher made it worth the time for me. Though not everyone else would be in it for that I'm sure. It was something nice I could drop on my old Fed tac phaser captain I hardly play anymore. Also <3 SWTOR, they hide the grind better when sub'd.

Only played as active twice this year so I either missed the change or forgot about it. I ran it twice but as its still broken, boring and frustrating I switched to doing it AFK. Which I only did a few times then thought this is a waste of time and gave up.

I found it frustrating and broken as even as an Engineer I cannot close rifts or trigger the power satellites. Due to the ship builds I fly I get interrupted every 15seconds when closing a rift or doing a satellite even when there are no enemy nearby. Add the constant 15 seconds interrupts onto the ones caused by the Mirror ships and it’s next to impossible for me to close rifts or trigger power sats without a lot of messing about.

There is no way I am going waste time changing builds just to fly the mirror event to then have to change back to my normal builds. Loadouts are broken for me so it’s too much messing about.

On PC there's no reason that abilities will cause you to stop channeling unless you use them yourself.

Console on the other hand does kind of push you into disabling every ability if you're inclined to take on rift or satellite duty because the autofiring insists on carrying on far too long after the last enemy died due to most of them prolonging the red alert status.
