D'Deridex T6 Feedback

slifox#0768 slifox Member Posts: 379 Arc User
This is my feedback on the Romulan D'Deridex T6 and for the most part, it meets my expectations of the ship. However, there are two things that really bug me. Enough to write this thread and I hope somebody (Dev) is reading.

1. Quad Cannons. I like how I'm able to mount them, but not how they're layed out. Instead of 4 bolts horizontal on the upper hull, it's layout should be 2 on the upper and 2 on the lower.

2. I think part of what made the ship a scary threat on TNG besides it size, was the notion that it could decloak and have a real good chance of destroying its target if not badly crippling it. In keeping it a "TV Show Cannon," a 4 & 4 setup for weapons doesn't seem right with the available weapons. A 5 fore and 3 aft setup would stick to the theme and allow a beam array, 2 single cannons, a quad Cannon, and torpedo. I've found with the 4x4 setup, running 1 single cannon, is pointless. The single Cannon doesn't fire fast enough and fires too fast on any rapid fire ability.

However an alternative to the 5x3 setup. If it had 1 single "heavy" cannon, then I would stick to the 4x4 setup. Don't want to do the Lobi Tetryon since it should be plasma or disruptors.

That's all folks!

    I own d'deridex T6 too.
To be honest i feel it heavily underpowered if compared with new miracle warbirds or even the "command battlecruiser warbirds".

D'deridex has the look, the vanity, to be the most beautiful romulan ship. But it should have better turn and better inertia.

To put it short...the new miracle warbirds are almost d'deridex looking, but with better stats. And i fly the miracle one now.

I almost got a D'deridex since it was in the shows, but because of the stats I am instantly turned away from it.

Really, the main problem the D'deridex has odds that it's got no specially. Console set bonus and components aren't that great compared to the smaller Warbirds, doesn't have a specialization mechanic, etc. Only plus is the BOff seating

The DD is beautiful but its stats are just...blegh. Why does a Jupiter carrier get a 6 for turn when the DD only gets 5? Same for Scimitar. Agree with the 5x3 weapon arrangement. I fly a DD on my Rommie since I'm not really minmaxing that toon; mostly just RP and dilithium refining.

I will gladly accept the label of 'heretic' but the DD's aesthetic never really appealed to me. The deadspace between its upper and lower hull and its overuse in TNG and beyond left a sour taste. However, I would have overlooked that if it had better stats.

I actually fitted the T6 DD with plasma turrets and single cannons and it works like a charm.
Used correctly it can draw all the enemy attention unto itself allowing vessels with less bulk to do their thing.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I just wish mine could use the I.R.W. prefix. So many romulan T6 are broken that way.

In my opinion, i would be very happy if i could use d'deridex or d'khellra skins with my miracle warbirds.

If you are happy with that inertia and turn...enjoy!
I just say that similar ships of class and size have usually better stats and better handling...just look at miracle warbirds again.

Why? Have you ever canonically seen a Derpi do anything except park and shoot or fly in a straight line?

Not many ships pre-Enterprise moved all that much besides the Defiant, and the vast majority are faster turning in game than the D'Deridex is. Also, The D'Khellra ships are 25th Century ships made in the same shipyards as the T6 Scimitar line, surely the tech that allows the much bigger Scimitar a turnrate of 7 could be applied to the D'K?

Not that big of a deal to me any more, since strapping on the Competitive Wargames Reputation engines I can move like an escort if I can keep my heals timed right. However, without the engines from that Rep, it's rather annoying.
