Hello,
I haven't watched the new Star Trek movie and I've always been a bit confused about Star Trek Online's storyline. Like, what happend before the game.
I think I've gotten it down correctly now, so I'd like some help to confirm if this is how things happend.. Or someone who can chime in with things and stuff.
Prime universe.
Spock detects that a star in the Hobus system is about to go supernova, and he goes there in a weird ship called the Jellyfish to use red matter to create a black hole, that will swallow the effects of the supernova before it can destroy Romulus.
The supernova in the Hobus system was actually created by Taris and Hakeev. Somewhat.
In the prime universe, Spock failed to stop the supernova in time but continues with the mission, using the same plan about red matter and to create a black hole, in order to swallow the shockwave, preventing further planets from being destroyed.
As Spock is creating the black hole, the Romulan miner ship Narada which looks ridiculous compared to other prime universe ships.. Shows up and blames Spock for destroying Romulus, they both disappear into the black hole togheter with the shockwave from the supernova.
Both are missing, and eventually Star Trek Online starts up!
However...
As Spock and the Narada was sucked into the black hole and go missing, they actually create an alternative universe.. This is the universe of JJTrek? Correct?
In this universe, the Narada arrives earlier and attacks the U.S.S. Kelvin.. Which is why Temporal Agent Daniels refers to this as the "Kelvin Timeline" as he obviously cannot call it the "JJTrek Timeline".
Spock arrives into this reality at a much later date, even though their ships was swallowed at the same time. Spock then watches Vulcan gets destroyed as revenge.
So? Did I get that... Right? Or am I missing something here? Or did I TRIBBLE it up.
Thanks!

As for the Narada's design, they kinda tried to explain it. It was a mining vessel that was heavily retrofitted with some borg tech at the vault in the hakoona system. That's also the lore behind our tal shiar ships and why they have similar aesthetics.
There's also a whole lot of other stuff that went down before the game actually starts.
The Klingons discover that the Gorn are under complete control of Undine (species 8472) infiltrators and start a war with them. Both sides gather a couple of allies (Lethans, Orions, Nausicaans) and the Klingons unltimately win and basically absorb the Gorn into the Empire with the other races kinda staying as hired muscle for the most part.
The fedearion is not happy with that and cuts all ties with the empire which pretty much leads into the cold war between them we have in the beginning.
There's also a whole lot of other stuff going on with the romulans but that's less important since the game barely touches that.
Like Donatra (the the female romulan from Nemesis) leading the new goverment before she gets assimilated and ends up as a boss in a borg mission.
Mostly right, except we're still in the Prime Universe.
You have an excellent analytical mind, Snow. Be proud of that. You've got it all right!
Welcome to the Psuedo-Prime Universe of Star Trek Online!
Everything you knew and loved bottomed out and was completely subsidized by my most esteemed compatriots of the Ferengi Alliance since 2409!
Want a Narada-esque BORG-assimilated Tal Shiar vessel that honestly should be banned and forcibly dismantled before docking a light year in civilized space? We've got what you need - in a reality altering lockbox gift wrapped package!
Galactic power embargoed Weapons of Mass Destruction to liberally wave around in Earth Space Dock or Drozana Station?
We've got 'em right 'ere!
Hurry, hurry! Get them while supplies last!

I know we're still in the prime universe. But in one mission we visit the JJTrek universe.. And ingame, Daniels refers to this timeline as the "Kelvin timeline". That's what I meant!
Yes, what about it? Spock from our Prime Universe got sucked into the Kelvin timeline never to be heard from again!
