Assimilate the Barbarians

in Star Trek Online General Discussion
Sometimes this Borg deep space encounter changes focus from a planet to the player ships with more Borg warping into the fight which includes a tactical cube but I wonder what the trigger is. Is there a specific number of player ships be present for this to occur or is it random? What do you think?

    the more players show up the more Borg there are to shoot.

    The second stage of DSE is randomly triggered from what I've seen, and usually requires numerous players there. Been that way for years.

    Maybe it does so to compensate for the players which missed out on most of the action.

    My experience with all DSEs has been the same. If I'm the only one in there, one group of enemies appear at a time. A second person comes in and they now appear two groups at a time. I could be wrong on the number of groups as my senile brain now seems to remember more than one group while in there solo, but the groups were so far apart I was never fighting more than one group at a time. More players resulted in more groups, with some now spaced close enough together to actually engage two groups at once.

    I don't remember ever being in a DSE without at least one more player popping by the time the mid point was reached and I've never tried counting how many players are actually in there. I usually move away from other players in DSEs. If I'm a lot higher DPSer than they are, I don't wanna vape all their targets, and by the same token, I don't want an actual high DPSer vaping my targets either as I usually only do DSEs if I'm in a ship where I'm still working on mastery.
